Where you’ll be

Bolpur, West Bengal, India

Shantiniketan is known the world over for its contribution to education, arts, and literature, but Tagore’s town in Bolpur, West Bengal is much more than that. While the Visva-Bharati University brings in the young crowd, Santiniketan’s origin dates back to 1883 when Rabindranath’s father, Maharshi Debendranath Tagore built a home/gurukul for spiritual and meditative purposes. He found the area exceptionally peaceful and called it Shantiniketan, the abode of peace. Rabindranath Tagore later lived in the same house, before going on to establish the university and build many more homes in the vicinity. Like his father, he had also found peace here, and used it to create Nobel Prize winning literature and art.

A mechanical engineer by profession, I run my own workshop in Kolkata. Books, travelling and Indian Classical music are three of my all time companions.

My interest, observations and orientation as a traveler led me to create Bimal Sudha, a cozy and well-connected Bungalow in Prantik, Santiniketan, the land of Tagore.

Inspired by the artistic sensibilities of Sri Surendranath Kar, an exponent of Tagore's favourite Kalabhaban tradition, Bimal Sudha helps you transform to world of trees and tranquility, at its purest.
