This is a small double room with a small double bed (1.4m wide). It is next door to a shared bathroom. We tend to let guests have sole use of it if we can (we use our shower room while we have guests).
We also have a new double room with en-suite shower room which is now available on AIrbnb as well.
Our house is a 5 bedroom Victorian semi detached house in a quiet residential area of Bath. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk to and from the city centre. It is down hill into town and uphill (quite steep but scenic) coming home. There is free unrestricted parking in our road.
There are also two buses that pass the end of our road from the city centre (13 & 14). Take the 13 in the Foxhill direction or the 14 in the Odd Down or Combe Down Direction. You get off at the "Bear Flat" stop (which the driver will know). There is free parking in the road outside our house. You can normally park within 50m of our house.
You will be sharing the house with just the two owners and our daughter who is back home having just graduated. One of our sons also comes to visit from time to time also (he is still studying). Or there may be other guests in the house because we let another room through Airbnb.
A cold buffet breakfast will be laid out for you in the kitchen in the morning. You can take this back to your room if you prefer - which is what we tend to do (being the lazy sort of people we are in the mornings!!) Feel free to help yourself to tea/coffee at any time and make full use of the kitchen if you like. There will be tea and coffee in your room also.
We have (fibre) wireless internet you can use.
We provide towels and toiletries.
There is a hair dryer in the room
There is also a small garden where you can sit out (if we ever get the weather for it).
Staying with Alan and Chris was my first Airbnb experience, and it was a very pleasant one! The house is situated about 15 min of nice walk from the city center. It is uphill, but that's the nature of the city, and you get some very nice views. Both the house and the room are nicely decorated and very clean, and we even had our own bathroom for the stay. Alan is very hospitable, yet relaxed, which is a perfect combination. We were able to come in and out as we wish, have breakfast on our own schedule, and there was no particular check-out time. The hosts layed out breakfast for us the night before- croissants, bagels, fresh fruits etc, which is a nice gesture. There is a large sense of trust between the hosts and their guests, and we really felt like home. I would highly recommend staying here.
This place was lovely! Alan and Kris were very friendly and accommodating, and we felt honored to be invited into their home. The unit is a room in their house in the second floor right next to a bathroom. The walls were filled with really cool stuff, like a framed article about Joe Strummer, some fancy maps of Bath, and some sort of local comedy publication. The house is to the south of the city center and up some hills from the train station, so be prepared to walk a bit. Our only regret was that we only stayed for one night and we had to leave early in the morning to catch a train. It would have been nice to luxuriate there a bit more and had more time to get to know Alan and Kris (and their cat Ruby). Next time we come to Bath we hope to stay here again!
Alan was really helpful, advising on car parking and checking on arrival times etc. The house was beautiful and we felt at home straight away. At the same time, we were able to come and go as we pleased. The room was really comfortable and there were lovely touches, like toiletries in the room and bathroom, fresh coffee, tea and biscuits in the room. Breakfast was delicious and we were offered the option of either eating in the light and airy kitchen or taking it to our room.
All round, a great stay - we would definitely recommend.
We had a great stay with Alan, he was very welcoming, the room is very comfortable and the house lovely and well located. Great breakfast.
Alan and Chris were delightful hosts and have a beautiful Victorian home with lovely furnishings. They were so welcoming and helpful; we felt completely at home. We stayed at several Airbnbs during our visit to England, and Alan and Chris were by far the most hospitable and organized of all our hosts. The little touches - providing tea in our room, a guide to the area, breakfast for us each morning with homemade bread and a delicious fruit plate - made all the difference. We thoroughly enjoyed staying with and getting to know them.
Alan was a wonderful host. He meet us at the train station and took our bags so we could start exploring Bath straight away. Excellent buffet breakfast each morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our staff with Alan and Chris and highly recommend them
Allan dropped us off at the train station upon our departure as well.
We loved Alan's house. The room was perfect for us. Shame we couldn't stay longer.
We had a fantastic stay in this lovely house. The room was very calm and quiet and everything had been extreemly well thought through, to ensure a really relaxing stay.
I love staying with Alan and Chris! The room is supplied with every comfort you could ask for and the bathroom is great! I feel so relaxed and comfortable when I am there! Alan and Chris make every effort to give you a great stay! It's so good that I just keep going back! Thanks Alan and Chris for being great hosts!
