The Space

This is a small double room with a small double bed (1.4m wide). It is next door to a shared bathroom. We tend to let guests have sole use of it if we can so it is almost like your own en-suite (we use our shower room while we have guests).

We also have a new double room with en-suite shower room which is now available on Airbnb as well.

Our house is a 5 bedroom Victorian semi detached house in a quiet residential area of Bath. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk to and from the city centre. It is down hill into town and uphill (quite steep but scenic) coming home. There is free unrestricted parking in our road.

We may be able to pick guests up from Heathrow or Bristol AIrport by prior arrangement. This would have to be agreed after/during the booking process.

There are also two buses that pass the end of our road from the city centre (13 & 14). Take the 13 in the Foxhill direction or the 14 in the Odd Down or Combe Down Direction. You get off at the "Bear Flat" stop (which the driver will know). There is free parking in the road outside our house. You can normally park within 50m of our house.

You will be sharing the house with just the two owners and our daughter who is back home having just graduated. One of our sons also comes to visit from time to time also (he is still studying). Or there may be other guests in the house because of the other room we let through Airbnb.

A cold buffet breakfast will be laid out for you in the kitchen in the morning. You can take this back to your room if you prefer - which is what we tend to do (being the lazy sort of people we are in the mornings!!) Feel free to help yourself to tea/coffee at any time and make full use of the kitchen if you like. There will be tea and coffee in your room also.

We have (fibre) wireless internet you can use.
We provide towels and toiletries.
There is a hair dryer in the room

There is also a small garden where you can sit out (if we ever get the weather for it).

Overall Guest Satisfaction
Check In
  • Alan and Chris' home was very clean, close to the town center and the Bath SPA station (though we took a cab to and from the station to avoid carrying our luggage up a long hill). They had breakfast available in their very quaint, artisticly decorated home. The room smelled slightly of cigarette smoke, but we opened the window which helped. This was not an overwhelming smell, but worth mentioning for those who may be sensitive. There was some confusion when we first arrived because a key was not left for us to get in while they were out, but we were able to call them and Chris came to let us in very quickly. Overall, very happy with our stay. Alan was always easy to get a hold of and communicate with.

  • Alan and Kris were gracious hosts. They were very personable. The room was clean. The breakfast offered a variety, including fresh fruit and an offer for a cooked egg. House is within walking distance to public transit and not too far from bus and train connections.

  • Very nice big room and bathroom, professional and well organised hosts, generous continental breakfast with fresh fruit, coffee, bread, jams etc. We are very sorry we didn't stay here longer.

  • We were very happy that Alan and Chris accepted our request to stay in their lovely flat. They seemed very friendly and nice people, unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time to chat with them because of our tight schedule.

Not only our room and the bathroom and all rooms we got to peek in were very tidy. The bed is comfy too but a bit too soft for someone with back pains like myself. For anyone else, it would be perfect.

  • What a wonderful home.

Had a great stay here and would recommend, just such as shame we couldn't stay longer.

    Thanks so much.

  • Lovely and beautiful house, plus Chris was pleasant and straightforward to talk to. The feel of the house is just our cup of tea as it reminded us of North Africa, and I throughly enjoyed looking at the photos hanged on the wall. We go to Bath every year for 4 years now and this year was probably the most memorable, what with the little touches of host hospitality plus space of privacy that one cannot get from hotels. The walk to and from the house is just what we need after a moment's binge in town, and the view was just amazing. One night was not enough but it surely made our Bath weekender worthwhile. Oh and one thing! there was this drink 'somerset pomona' which was really good, but I forgot to ask Chris where to buy one. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.

    Uitgebreid ontbijt, aangenaam verblijfje!

  • It was excellent with Alan and Chris. Both are very nice, the house and the location in Bath is nice and we have loved the great continental breakfast. We felt fine in every way.

  • Alan and Chris were lovely hosts - we mostly spoke with Alan and he was a very personable, funny guy. He gave us some excellent recommendations for things to do in Bath, and the room itself was comfortable and met all our needs. The breakfast was especially good (lots of options, and in a lovely kitchen to boot), and little extras like bottled water etc in the room were a nice touch. Highly recommended!

Hi I work as a freelance mobile telecom engineer. I enjoy all sorts of music, I like to grow my own food and like foreign travel when I can afford it. I live with my long term partner and best friend Kris. She is a social worker. We have three grown up children one of whom is living with us again having just graduated. Another still at university occasionally comes home but it takes a lot of persuasion! The eldest left a long time ago and lives locally in Bath.
