About This Listing
Our house is a 5 bedroom Victorian semi detached house in a quiet residential area of Bath. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk to and from the city centre. It is down hill into town and uphill (quite steep but scenic) coming home.
This is a small double room with a small double bed (1.4m wide). It is next door to its own bathroom, so it is like your own en-suite when you stay in this room.
Guests have access to their room and bathroom as well as having full use of the kitchen if required at any time. Feel free to help yourself to tea/coffee at any time and make full use of the kitchen if you like. There will be tea and coffee in your room also.
A cold buffet breakfast will be laid out for you in the kitchen in the morning to which you help yourselves. You can take this back to your room if you prefer - which is what we tend to do (being the lazy sort of people we are in the mornings!!)
Interaction with Guests
You will be sharing the house with just the two owners and possibly two other guests in the other room if we have booked that room as well.
We tend to give our guests as much privacy as possible but are normally available for advice or a chat if required. We seem to see our guests mostly around breakfast time.
On the Bear Flat at the top of our road is a decent pub and few small shops take-aways and restaurants. Included among these is "Rolfy's" which is an antique/bric-a-brac shop which is difficult to walk past without getting drawn in at least for a browse.
There is easy walking access to the city centre. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk to and from the city centre. It is down hill into town and uphill (steep but scenic) coming home.
There is free unrestricted parking in our road. You can normally park within 50m of our house.
There are two buses that pass the end of our road from the city centre (13 & 14). Take the 13 in the Foxhill direction or the 14 in the Odd Down direction. You get off at the "Bear Flat" stop (which the driver will know).
Taxis to and from the city centre are about £6 to £7
Other Things to Note
We provide towels and toiletries.
There is a hair dryer in the room.
We have (fibre) wireless internet you can use.
There is also a small garden where you can sit out (if we ever get the weather for it).
We may be able to pick guests up from Heathrow or Bristol AIrport by prior arrangement. This would have to be agreed after/during the booking process.
None except be nice, be happy, enjoy. :)
We absolutely enjoyed our stay in Bath. The house is beautifully decorated and located. We had everything a hotel would offer, including a good breakfast and complete privacy. Alan is a most welcoming host. Would highly recommend this place!
This is a gorgeous house in a pleasantly leafy neighbourhood with an arty feel. The house is very comfortable and relaxed. My friend and I stayed just the one night with my little daughter in tow, and could have sat in the kitchen chatting and cooking for many more hours than we did (quite a few).... Our hosts are clearly old hands at the Airbnb experience and have found a perfect balance of low-key but very welcoming hospitality. The breakfast was lovely - homemade bread and a LOT of jams to choose from, fruit salad, cereal and yoghurt. We cooked our dinner the night before too, which was no problem.
I'd definitely come back again if I was back in Bath - hopefully for longer next time!
Alan was so welcoming and gave great advice about the city!
we would like to thank you for the stay at your wonderful home. We felt welcome and got a good recommendation for dinner.
Looking forward to stay at you again.
We really enjoyed our stay in Alan's beautiful home. Alan was there to meet us when we arrived and responded to messages extremely promptly. It was perfect for a short stay in Bath and is about 20 minutes pleasant walk from the centre. The room is clean, tidy and nicely decorated. There is a kettle and tea/coffee in the room. The adjacent bathroom is spacious and spotless. A more than adequate breakfast was provided. We would stay here again and highly recommend it.
Really enjoyed our stay, we felt very welcomed by our hosts Alan and Chris. Their home is lovely with lots of interesting items everywhere. The room was comfortable and had nice touches like fresh flowers and chocolates. The house is well situated if you wish to visit Bath, just a short walk to the centre. We would definitely stay again and would heartily recommend this b&b to anyone.
Excellent one night stay in this lovely Bath house. Alan was very kind and welcoming and the accommodation was homely and very comfortable. Excellent communication beforehand and I was very grateful for being allowed to keep my wet bike in the hallway overnight. Nice breakfast spread. Thanks very much.

About the Host, Alan
Hi I work as a freelance mobile telecom engineer.
I enjoy all sorts of music, I like to grow my own food and like foreign travel when I can afford it.
I live with my long term partner and best friend Kris. She is a social worker.
We have three grown up children one of whom is living with us again having just graduated. Another still at university occasionally comes home but it takes a lot of persuasion! The eldest left a long time ago and lives locally in Bath.
