  • The house is located in a quiet neighborhood, close to supermarkets, restaurants and the beach. It is a beautiful house with good working A/C and Joost is an excellent host! I loved my stay and thank Joost for his hospitality! Definitely will stay there again.

  • This house is beautiful inside and out. 3 friends and I stayed here for 3 nights and couldnt have been happier with our choice.Located just off the beaten path in a quiet neighborhood ,we were still in close proximity to town of Tamarindo with quick access to everything- beach, shopping, restaurants . There was plenty of room for everyone and we were VERY grateful for the AC in the bedrooms . The house was beyond clean and inviting. The pool was our absolute favorite part and was perfect to lounge around for our morning coffee or evening cocktail. Joost was extremely accomodating and helpful. We look forward to renting this gorgeous house again!

  • Our stay at the Casa Colonial could not have been better! Joost was a fantastic host and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed!

I took my wife to Costa Rica for our honeymoon, and this house was the perfect place! The pool is situated perfectly so you can spend the entire day in it without frying in the sun. The house is perfectly situated - a few blocks from the blissfully quiet beach and a short walk to the bustle of Tamarindo's touristy beaches and restaurants. It was peaceful and quiet.

The accommodations at the house were excellent - fully functioning kitchen, nice beds, laundry facilities; in short, it had everything we needed for a week of vacation. There's even a well stocked, small grocery store down the street!

Our host provided everything we needed for a wonderful stay in Costa Rica, and we can't wait to go back!

  • We absolutely, loved, loved staying at Casa Colonial!!! It was a magical experience, like no other! The house was clean, inviting and had such a uniqueness that I believe contributes to ones overall experience! An easy one mile bike into town, yet just enough seclusion, an overall joy. Joost, was super helpful, and so accommodating! Highly recommended!

  • My 4 friends and I stayed at Casa Colonial in March 2014 and loved it! Joost was easily accessible via email and responded to my questions incredibly quickly. He graciously accommodated our 9:00 PM check-in and 3:00 AM check-out, shared helpful advice about Langosta and Tamarindo, and brought over 2 bicycles free of charge. He is a transplant from the Netherlands and speaks impeccable English.

The house's unique design offers a nice balance of community and privacy. The central, open air swimming pool is the crown jewel of the house. The water was clean, cool, and refreshing. There is direct sunlight on the pool for only part of the day, so the pool can be enjoyed even by fair skinned individuals who burn easily! We often retreated from the beach to the pool during the hottest hours of the day. The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked all of our meals at home. The dining table can easily seat 6, and the living room area can seat 4-5. Multiple ceiling fans kept these common areas cool. The 3 air conditioned bedrooms (4 beds total) each had private bathrooms with showers. There was no hot water, but cool showers felt good at the end of the hot days. The washer and dryer were a welcome perk. The house felt very secure, with bars outside the windows and doors and several locks on the front door. The open air design understandably allows access to a few insects at night, but the geckos and citronella candles kept them at a minimum and no insects made it into the bedrooms. Besides, the view of the moon and stars from the pool and hammock more than made up for any insect nuisances.

Casa Colonial is located on a dirt road in Langosta, a dusty and steamy 20-minute walk (3-minute taxi ride) from the center of Tamarindo. There are multiple beach access points within a 5-minute walk. We found the Langosta beach too rocky for our comfort, so we walked about 10 minutes to the wider and sandier beach of south Tamarindo. The neighborhood is very quiet, especially at night. A small grocery store is just a 5-minute walk away, selling all the essentials (bottled water, bread, coffee, alcohol, etc.). A much larger mega store on the other side of Tamarindo is accessible by taxi. We spotted monkeys in the trees near the house on multiple occasions!

If you are looking for a luxurious, spacious, and quiet home in close proximity to Tamarindo and the beach, my friends and I highly recommend Casa Colonial. Joost is an excellent host / realtor, and it would be our pleasure to rent from him again in the future.

  • Everything went well, the house is excellent, as described in the gallery. The house is well located, very close to Tamarindo and close to Tamarindo.
We were welcomed by Joost, and he gave us all the help before and during our stay with tips on tourism, surfing etc..
We had minor problems but nothing to make us take a star from the rating.
Probably will return to Costa Rica and will stay there if we can.
Any questions about my stay can contact me directly.

  • Casa Colonial was perfect. It is in a great location in Playa Langosta, and only 2 blocks from the beach. I think it is much nicer to stay in Langosta than Tamarindo as it is more peaceful and laid back, and Tamarindo is only a 3 minute drive away. Joost was very responsive and helpful and I'd recommend this house to anyone.

  • My friend and I (6 adults) spended 7 days from January 27 to February 2 2014 in the Casa Colonial. Joost and Mark came to welcome us, for giving us informations about the house and the area! They are very nice and helpful. The house have a really nice spot, located at 5 minutes from Tamarindo downtown and about 5 minutes walk from the beautiful beach of Langosta! All in the house was great, the pool was very nice and all of the accomodations, we appreciate the safety deposit, and all the bathroom in the each room!! My friends and I founded that the house and the host was perfect! Great place, very nice area, very good restaurants at Tamarindo!!! We hope to go back at Playa Langosta and we will not hesitate to return at the Joost house, Casa Colonial! It's a 5 stars place! :) We have the chance to see a lot of monkey just above the house!!! A very great moment for us! Enjoy!!!!

  • Overall this was a great home for our vacation. I traveled with a group of five and the house held us very comfortably. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Joost at the home. We did not know what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised. The home has a very unique and functional layout. Each room has privacy with beds and a bathroom. The location is great. A five minute walk to the beach or a local market and a five minute drive to the center of Tamarindo.

The owner was very kind and friendly. He gave excellent directions and was very good about communication and flexibility with check in and check out. I would definitely do business with him again.

There are a few downsides to the rental. When we checked in the washer and dryer were not working. I specifically booked a place with these accommodations and it did cause a minor inconvenience. I would also suggest more comfortable seating for the living room, as there was only a couple of chairs and a two person small sofa. The tv was also small and could be updated.

But the good definitely outweighed the bad. We really did have a great experience and a memorable trip. I would definitely recommend Casa Colonial Langosta and may even return myself.
