The Space

Yellow Point, named for the native succulents that grow along the shore, is a little slice of the Mediterranean in Canada.

With stunning ocean views, this brand new home overlooks the calm protected waters of Stuart Channel and the Gulf Islands. Nestled in the countryside of Yellow Point, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, this home is twenty minutes south of Nanaimo and ninety minutes north of Victoria, a great central location for exploring Vancouver Island.

This tranquil property is peaceful, private and right on the beach. A great spot for nature lovers. Towering cedars attract eagles, woodpeckers, kingfishers and many other birds. An established orchard attracts wildlife including deer and rabbits. All are easily viewed from the living room and large deck. The tidal area is endlessly interesting to explore at low tide. The secluded pebble beach, known only to locals, is the only one in the Yellow Point area and is perfect for sun bathing and swimming in the summer months. Public access to the Beach with solid concrete steps and a hand railing (built by the Regional District ) is a very short 70 meter walk away.

This cozy, comfortably decorated home includes a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, living room with wood burning stove and double sofa-bed, bedroom with a queen bed, (cozy cotton sheets for both beds), den area with rocking chairs, electric fireplace, and desk.

There is a large bathroom with tub/shower. The spacious, sunny deck off the living room features comfortable outdoor seating with panoramic views of the water, gulf islands and mainland mountains. Wireless internet access, a land line telephone as well as a 32 inch TV with cable and DVD player are on site.

Yellow Point is a great spot for nature lovers. Stuart Channel is teeming with marine mammals and birds.

Within walking distance are three local artisan studios and galleries. Be sure to visit the many artisan galleries in the yellowpoint area. There is also plenty to do and see within easy driving distance. The area features golf courses, parks, hiking and biking trails, bass and trout fishing at Quesnel Lake, kayak rentals from Ladysmith, and even bungee jumping at the famous “bungy-zone” 20 minutes away. Yellow Point rd is a popular bicycling loop for avid cyclists, especially in summer.

The town of Cedar 7km up the road has a full service grocery and cold beer and wine for those wanting to cook in, and the Mahle House restaurant with its award winning wine list serves gourmet meals for an evening out. Or stop by the farmer's
market, every Sunday (from May to October) just down the road.

For casual dining or a morning cappuccino visit Cedar’s CoCo Café coffee house and bistro. The famous Crow and Gate English Pub is also close by serving hearty, tasty country meals and amazing local beer. The wineries of the Cowichan valley and the sandy beaches of Parksville are easy day trips.

There is one long term tenant in the suite above the garage.

Guest Access

The beach is accessible from our front yard but the hand hewn steps are rough and awkward. We do not recommend this trail. Much easier access is via the public access trail a 70 meter walk away.

Interaction with Guests

I always try to meet our guests, walk them through the house, and answer any questions they might have. After that initial walk through, I will leave them in peace. I am easily accessible by telephone to answer any inquiries and am a 5 minute drive away should any "in person" assistance be needed.

Getting Around

There is no public transit to the Beach house.
