2 luxury B&B suites, pool & wifi

Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Catlin Dr, Tampa, FL 33647, United States

The Space

Two large, private suites, with en-suite bathrooms, in a quiet and peaceful modern environment, overlooking a peaceful pool and lake, 25 minutes to the heart of downtown.

Wi-fi, TV with HBO and many sports channels etc, parking. Pristine condition with guest lounge and dining room, pool and peaceful, conservation lake.Access to the main kitchen, tea, coffee, etc is included, and guest lounge, and patio.

Breakfasts are included - we can make these for you, or you can make your own. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer, soap powder etc.

Suite 1: Downstairs. A large light (non-smoking) room with bay window overlooking gardens. En-suite bathroom, new TV and comfortable couch. Queen bed with high-quality new mattress. The headboard was installed after the AirBnb "official" photographs were taken, and shows the room in evening light.

Suite 2: Upstairs. This is the entire upstairs section of the house, and is a very large, light, (non-smoking) with an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower and vanity. This suite has its own fridge and air conditioning system. The bed is king-size and there is also seating with a high-quality futon-style bed. There is a new desk.

There are various photographs. I have left the AirBnb photos, with the room before the king bed, and before the new 32" television. There are also pictures of the room after the king bed and tartan headboard were installed. That also has a new 32" TV with HBO and many sports etc options.

The pool has a lake view, with a conservation area on the other side of the small lake. The wifi area reaches the pool and the deep lanai. Guests loves the pool area. There are pool towels.

There are restaurants, a coffee bar, pharmacy, post office etc and other stores with easy walking distance, and there is a bus close by, but one really needs a car in Tampa Bay. Public transit is not great. There are several malls "close by" in Tampa Bay terms - i.e. a 10 - 15 minute drive. (Brandon Mall, Wiregrass Mall etc.)

This part of Tampa Bay is the golfing, academic, Busch Gardens, medical etc side of Tampa. There are dozens of golf courses, and Hilton is knowledgeable about these. He can usually book golf. We are also suitable for CAMLS.

We believe that this accommodation is most suited to adults, perhaps with older teens. The house is not suitable for children as the pool is not fenced, and there are other places on the beach.

Our ideal guests are international visitors, business, academic and professional people, university parents and new students going to college, medical visitors, golfers, etc. We can help all of these groups with our knowledge and experience of the area.

The house is relatively close to USF and to many major medical centers like Moffitt. It is close to the I75-Bruce B Downs off-ramp.

There are pleasant walks and hundreds of great places to visit in Tampa Bay. We can answer most questions about these or provide resource material.

This accommodation is unusual in three ways. 1) The house has three master suites (and two full lounges and two eating areas) besides other rooms and bathrooms. 2) We're experts on Tampa Bay business, and on international soft landings. We are both deeply involved in volunteer economic development work. We have extensive experience of international visitors, and can help with connections and information in many areas. 3) The setting is amazing. Many guests have not wanted to leave the property, and simply sit gazing at the lake, or lie floating in the pool, reveling in the peacefulness.

  • Glynis and Hilton were the best hosts you could ask for. We would not know how to top their hospitality. We have traveled extensively around the world and met people from many different cultures, and truly, Glynis and Hilton were among the best. We were delighted by their knowledge about the area, and about the world at large, as well as their love for people, culture, and food. Staying there, we truly felt at home. They made delicious breakfast, and they shared their beach umbrella and anything else that we forgot to bring. Our only regret is that we could not spend more time at their lovely home.

  • Glynis and Hilton were AMAZING. Thanks sooooo... much for making my Mom and Sister's stay so comfortable while my Dad was in the hospital.

I highly recommend them for anyone that wants a comfortable, clean, and friendly place to stay.

  • Lovely hosts! Glynis was so accommodating of our very late arrival and had a great breakfast set out the next morning. The rooms were super comfortable and very quiet. There is a very nice pool as well. Wonderful place to stay.

    Response from Hilton:

    Hi Amelia
Thanks for the lovely review. I hope you had a wonderful time in Sarasota.

The weather is cooling and is getting towards what we call the "good weather" (winter) - perfect for walking, sitting outside etc.

We've been entertaining ourselves putting up headboards and making matching pillows, and making the upstairs bedroom a king suite not a futon. All the best :) Glynis

  • I've stayed with Glynis and Hilton for five nights during the week of the Republican National Convention, which I covered as a reporter, together with my colleague. And without a doubt: we could not have landed on a better place in Tampa. The rooms are enormous, spotless, bright and very comfortable. The house is amazing and the pool very relaxing. And foremost: Glynis and Hilton are amazingly nice hosts who provided us with all the local information we needed. Breakfast was delicious and plenty in the morning, by the way. We obviously enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Tampa.

    Response from Hilton:

    Hi Roel
Thanks for the lovely review. We loved having you guys to stay (as you know). If we can do anything for you from Tampa, just shout.

I'm glad there was more fun at the Dem Convention - you work so hard. It must be easier to report on positive and more inspiring people.

We're making padded headboards for the beds and changing your room to a King room.

We send regards to your wife and to Geoff.

If you come again, Greg will show you all the best places for beer - even your wife will enjoy Tampa Bay without the barricades :) Glynis

  • Thank you for a wonderful experience! Hilton and Glynis are the best hosts! This was our first experience with airbnb and we are so pleased! They offer exactly what they describe. The "soft landing" was so helpful to all of us as we were preparing to drop our daughter off at the university...offering suggestions of places to shop (with directions), places to eat, and sharing experiences of what the Tampa/Clear Water/St. Petersburg area had to offer. There was a perfect balance between being respectful of our need to have family time and making us all feel like family while getting to know one another. I would HIGHLY recommend this awesome experience!

We have a small training company, Competency & Performance Solutions.
Hilton and Glynis were born in South Africa, have traveled six continents, and love Tampa Bay. Hilton retired from law when we came to the US and helps Glynis with her training company. Our sons have grown up, and their suites are empty so we began by welcoming international students and found that we enjoyed this. We also hosted Moffitt patients and visitors after Glynis' father passed away from cancer. As directors of the Tampa Bay International Business Council, and the American International Business Council, we heard about Airbnb/Crashpadders from the Irish Chamber of Commerce. We saw a way to share local knowledge with visitors. We can help visitors to Tampa Bay to understand the regional business community and economy, and to make business contacts, and we are experts on how to enjoy Tampa Bay. We still host cancer patients with minimal immune challenges (and we clean things ourselves to meet the requirements). We hope to interest others in the International Community in opening their homes to international business people, and to those visiting medical and academic/educational centers in the region (Moffitt, CAMLs etc.)
