The space

After being hit hard by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, the current owners of Somewhere West were the first to begin picking up the pieces of what was left behind of the wreckage. While still located directly in Negril, what's most wonderful about the newly-renovated Somewhere West is its private location, spectacular views and quiet surroundings. A twelve minute drive to downtown Negril and Seven Mile Beach, Somewhere West maintains an off-the-beaten-path yet central location within Negril. With a breathtaking ocean and sunset views from each apartment and personalized, colorful décor, there truly is no other guesthouse like it. A full menu of unique Caribbean and American cuisine is available for lunch, breakfast and dinner along with seaside dining. The property is cared for by a small-knit, pet-loving family whom have a passion for hosting visitors.

Guest access

Guests will have access to swimming, snorkeling, bicycling, sunbathing, outdoor shower, wi-fi, a washer machine, restaurant, seaside dining, 24/7 island-wide tours and transportation as well as a long list of activities to do within Negril. (Snorkel equipment and bicycles are not included. Usage of washer machine is $5 USD per load.)

Other things to note

Somewhere West is a gated and fenced, with security surveillance, five dogs, one cat and owners consistently present. Safes are provided in each apartment. Finishing work on the pool deck has yet to be completed but the pool is completely functional.

Our stay at SomewhereWest has been an absolute dream. Pictures doesn't do this place justice! It was a perfect location -- enough to experience the local and quieter side of Negril and close enough to town and resort area, as well as 7mile beach. The panoramic views of the ocean, backyard with vibrant colors, pool, and amazing sunsets had all of us speechless every time we sat on the porch. The property had so much character which we all loved. We all settled in quite quickly and really made it our home for the 5 days we were there. The rooms, bathroom, and kitchen were all very clean as well. Angela and her partner, O'Neil were the most humble, friendliest, and accommodating hosts my girlfriends and I have ever had a pleasure of encountering. They worked hard with my large group of friends and always made sure we were happy! I recommend having cliffside dining for future guests as O'Neil is also the chef -- the food couldn't have been more authentic and delicious. They were also nice enough to give us some company to walk to the local grocery and carry stuff back. They gave us daily recommendations of what to do and see during our stay as well as make reservations to restaurants. I've already recommended this home to friends and I'll be sure to stay here in the future!

I planned a family vacation a year in advance at Somewhere West and very much looked forward to returning to Jamaica with my entire family and brand new baby boy. Somewhere West was perfect. The rooms were spacious and roomy and the views were spectacular. We loved using the pool when we didn't feel like driving down to the beach and it made our vacation a lot more relaxing without the pressure of packing for the beach everyday. The best part of our stay was the incredible staff. I can't say enough good things about Capo. He made us feel so welcomed, provided transportation for our very busy family, waited for us when we needed errands, and suggested great places to eat and see. His hospitality is priceless. Maureen also made our stay so easy and comfortable. We left Somewhere West not just with a great vacation but with new friends who feel more like family. Do not hesitate to stay here.

Our stay at Somewhere West was great! Maureen was our host filling in for Angela and was really cool. The house was very clean and so cozy! The view of the ocean from the balconies were breathtaking to wake up to each morning! Easy access throughout each unit... We were a group of 10 and took up a lot of space, but everyone still had their privacy. The pool was a cool (lit up at night) and clean! Decent size, and filled with the ocean water which felt so g(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)d! Everyone there made us feel welcome and helped with whatever we asked. We did some grocery shopping for our meals... but had breakfast cooked for us on our last morning... it was delicious!!! Location was close to "downtown" and a few attractions like Rick's Cafe! We were a 15-minute walk to an amazing food place called Murphys... DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! He had everything from Curry Chicken to Lobster! Everything tasted fresh and cooked to perfection! Even the french fries were fresh and crispy (better than the US in my opinion)! My only complaint was that we only had wi-fi the 1st (and some of the 2nd) day of our 4-day stay... so it made it really hard to stay in touch with family and friends, lookup attractions or travel plans, and get some work done when necessary. Overall, I definitely recommend a stay here!

From booking to departure ANGIE and her team were on top of things. Making sure we got to our excursions in time and making sure we got the best rates for things as well. The view is breathtaking and the house is so cute.

My group really enjoyed the property, we rented out all 4 units. it's off the beaten path down deep west-end but close enough to take an inexpensive taxi to the main restaurants or hot spots. The views are incredible, pool area perfect to chill or party and house decor done very well, a modern, light, colorful beachy feel. Angela is extremely responsive and helpful throughout, as is the entire staff. A/C works well, shower hot and pressure great, clean, everything was perfect.

This was exactly as described, shown, and what we were looking for. Angela, took care of us during our whole trip and was very communicative, especially with coordinating our family of 12 meals. My family is already thinking about the next time we can stay at Somewhere West.

Somewhere west was one of the most beautiful ocean front experiences I have ever had. Angela was extremely accommodating and the fresh juices were excellent. The apartments are spacious, beautiful and very comfortable. My family and I will certainly be back.
