Apartment - Entire home/apt · Plaza de las Comendadoras, Madrid, Madrid 28015, Spain

The Space

Cosy, comfortable apartment located in one of Madrid's most charming plazas, featuring a 17th-century convent, a splash of greenery in the city center, two cafés and a Mexican restaurant where you can sip on a margarita or down some tacos outdoors on a warm night. Bright and sunny, the apartment has a balcony offering open views of the square, as well as of Madrid's famous blue skies and sunsets. Great for couples, single travelers or good friends.

Cleverly designed to make the most of the space, the apartment has a living room, a sleeping alcove with a very comfortable double bed, a spacious bathroom with shower and a well-equipped kitchenette. Beautiful details include old marble floors, a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and authentic Spanish terracotta kitchen tiles.

Note: an extra mattress (also very comfortable) sleeps a third person, and a fold-up cot is available for traveling babies.

Centrally located in a lovely neighborhood with cobblestoned streets in the heart of Madrid, the apartment is a stone's throw from Gran Vía and Plaza de España, close to Tribunal and Chueca, and within easy walking distance of historic points of interest, such as the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol.
Excellent public transport connections. Near metro stations Noviciado (line 2), Plaza de España (lines 3 and 10) and San Bernardo (line 4). Also within easy walking distance of Tribunal and Bilbao (both line 1).

Elevator, bed and bath linens, kitchen essentials, washing machine, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, ample closet space, TV, phone and internet. A selection of guides and maps of Madrid, Spanish phrasebooks and dictionaries, and an eclectic library of English and Spanish books is also available for the visitor to use.

A personal pad for true romantics.

P.S. For anyone with open-ended plans that wants to explore Spain, please see my listing in Cáceres (world heritage city in off-the-beaten-track Extremadura). Great for anyone who´d like to visit a beautifully conserved medieval city, be close to nature (good for birdwatching too) and get an insider´s glimpse of the "real Spain".

Check In
  • We had a wonderful stay in Madrid. Nuria was a wonderful and attentive host, giving us clear instructions on how to get to the apartment, advice on things like where the post office is and places to go and even calling to check everything was going ok. It was obvious that she cares about people enjoying their stay in her home.

The location is excellent. It's true that it can be very noise - it is situated on a square and one night there was a very enthusiastic get together next door- but if that kind of thing doesn't bother you then the location is superb. And during the day it's quite pleasant hearing the locals enjoying themselves on the square. I assume that it's going to be noisy anywhere in that neighbourhood because everyone seems to stay up late. And being in the square made it feel very safe coming home at night.

The best part for us was being two blocks away from the neighbourhood Malasana. We fell in love with it. So many lovely little bars and restaurants and boutiques. It was such a cool area.

I highly recommend Nuria's apartment and would definitely stay there again should I return to Madrid.

  • I had a delightful stay in Nuria's little apartment. It is in the Malasaña area of Madrid which has a lot of terrific restaurants and bars. It is also close to the old heart of town--near the opera house, Plaza Mayor and Plaza del Sol. There is easy, nearby access to the Metro, which is the best in Europe and can get you anywhere in town quickly and easily.
Nuria could not have been nicer and more helpful. I was there the first of the year when it was fairly nippy, and the heater broke. I called Nuria and had another heater right away with no problem. In fact, I went to visit her in Cáceres after my stay in her place and had a lovely time there with her. She is a very, very nice lady.

  • Morela greeted us timely at the apartment as Nuria was out of town. Another guest was checking out, so Morela took our luggage up to the apartment and suggested a nearby place for breakfast while she cleaned the apartment, Bar Jose. What a delightful introduction to the neighborhood and the Spanish breakfast! It certainly is MUCH different than what we are used to in the United States for breakfast. Morela then showed us around the apartment and gave us an orientation to the neighborhood. The apartment is very quaint and decorated with love, it was like being a guest in somebody's home! We are walkers and enjoyed the proximity of SO many attractions. We arrived at the apartment the morning of New Years Eve and said good bye to the old year with thousands of others at Puerta del Sol, eating a grape at each of the twelve gongs of the bell, assuring us good fortune for the next twelve months.

  • We had a wonderful Christmas in Madrid and enjoyed your apartment in your secret Plaza very much, Nuria. It was just what we needed when we were running from one site to the next. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

  • Nuria's apartment was absolutely perfect for our weekend in Madrid. The location could not be better- very easy getting to and from the airport, close to wonderful bars and restaurants, walking distance to all the major sights. It was also a very peaceful spot and we enjoyed retreating to the little square after a day amongst the crowds elsewhere in the city. Nuria's neighbourhood tips were great too. The apartment was warm, quiet and comfortable. The delicious figs were an added bonus! We highly recommend this gem in Madrid!

Kurzum: alles lief reibungslos

  • We had a very pleasant stay at Nurias lovely apartment. She really cares for her guests and provided a lot of recommendations, which worked well for us. The area of the apartment is lively, with lots of nice cafes, bistros & shops and not far away from the city centre. Definitely a good choice for staying in Madrid!

Hi! I'm half-Spanish, half-American (dad from Spain, mom from USA), so feel I have a foot in both cultures. I teach, translate, and write (I'm the author of "Spanish Among Amigos", two books on conversational Spanish). I like drawing and painting, traveling, meeting people, bodysurfing on empty beaches, nature, animals, good books, good food... And I love Spain: its culture, people, climate, landscape, fiestas, food, wine... I'd love to welcome you to my place, and do all I can to help make your stay here maravilloso! ¡Hasta pronto!
