About This Listing
Cosy, comfortable apartment located in one of Madrid's most charming plazas, featuring a 17th-century convent, a splash of greenery in the city center, three cafés and a Mexican restaurant where you can sip on a margarita or down some tacos outdoors on a warm night. Bright and sunny, the apartment has a balcony offering open views of the square, as well as of Madrid's famous blue skies and sunsets. Great for couples, single travelers or good friends.
Cleverly designed to make the most of the space, the apartment has a living room, a sleeping alcove with a very comfortable double bed, a spacious bathroom with shower and a well-equipped kitchenette. Beautiful details include old marble floors, a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and authentic Spanish terracotta kitchen tiles.
Note: an extra mattress (also very comfortable) sleeps a third person, and a fold-up cot is available for traveling babies.
Centrally located in a lovely neighborhood with cobblestoned streets in the heart of Madrid, the apartment is a stone's throw from Gran Vía and Plaza de España, close to Tribunal and Chueca, and within easy walking distance of historic points of interest, such as the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol.
Excellent public transport connections. Near metro stations Noviciado (line 2), Plaza de España (lines 3 and 10) and San Bernardo (line 4). Also within easy walking distance of Tribunal and Bilbao (both line 1).

P.S. For anyone with open-ended plans that wants to explore Spain, please see my 2 listings in Cáceres (world heritage city in off-the-beaten-track Extremadura). Great for anyone who´d like to visit a beautifully conserved medieval city, be close to nature (good for birdwatching too) and get an insider´s glimpse of the "real Spain".
This apartment was formerly owned and designed by Isabel García Tapia (a well-known Spanish interior designer) and has been maintained with care, attention and love. Please treat it the same way!
Nuria's place is in the most perfect location. We walked everywhere. Her place is nice, filled with eclectic decor. The balcony is the best thing to come home to. We cooked a few meals and enjoyed the views from the balcony.

This was the best airbnb experience I've ever had, and I've had some excellent ones all over the world! Nuria replied immediately, and there was fluid communication maintained right until the end. She was out of town, Marcel was ill, so keys were left at the cafe down below - perfectly organised and really exciting discovering the apartment alone!
It is exactly as shown on the photos, maybe slightly more spacious than it appears. We filled it with hiking gear and guitars, and still had room for lovely meals in the evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped, we cooked every day, and some supplies were already in the fridge. In the winter months it's so peaceful in the square! Amazing location, and I had already lived in central Madrid for a year so was aware what was on offer! You can see out the balcony from the bed, the nicest way to wake up in the world, with all that morning sunlight streaming in! An entertaining side note is that you can, should you wish to, avoid the morning sunlight thanks to the shutters, highly useful after an experience of Madrid nightlife!
Such a beautifully tastefully decorated apartment! From the layout to the small details like the lamps and candles, it really is perfect.
Amazingly helpful and friendly host + extras. The neighbor Carmen was on call throughout our stay and even allowed us to leave out luggage at her place after checkout. I could write about what an excellent experience our stay was for hours!
We spent about 10 days in Nuria's apartment in the cold of January with our kid of 3.5 years old, yet we felt home, warm and very happy. The apartment is not a big one but not small either, it's not luxurious yet essentials are all there. It is simple but beautifully arranged and decorated with spirit. You feel that you are in Madrid. The apartment looks to a plaza, one of the nicest spots in Madrid, located in the heart of the city with small streets, cafes, restaurants and shops around. The neighborhood is probably one of the gentrified districts of the city but not touristic at all. We visited other parts of this beautiful city but felt really much better every time we got back to our neighborhood. Nuria, the owner of the apartment, is a thoughtful, helpful and charming host. She was always there whenever we needed something. We already look forward to our next visit to Madrid and hope to be able to stay in the same apartment.
Nuria replied to us immediately, she was friendly and helpful. We were met by her friend Marcel, who gave recomendations about the area. The surrounding area is beautiful, quiet and full of places to go out just round the corner. We loved our stay, thank you very much. We happily recommend this apartments and hope to be back.

About the Host, Nuria
Hi! I'm half-Spanish, half-American (dad from Spain, mom from USA), so feel I have a foot in both cultures. I teach, translate, and write (I'm the author of "Spanish Among Amigos", two books on conversational Spanish). I like drawing and painting, traveling, meeting people, bodysurfing on empty beaches, nature, animals, good books, good food... And I love Spain: its culture, people, climate, landscape, fiestas, food, wine... I'd love to welcome you to my place, and do all I can to help make your stay here maravilloso! ¡Hasta pronto!
