About this listing
Cosy, comfortable apartment located in one of Madrid's most charming plazas, featuring a 17th-century convent, a splash of greenery in the city center, three cafés and a Mexican restaurant where you can sip on a margarita or down some tacos outdoors on a warm night. Bright and sunny, the apartment has a balcony offering open views of the square, as well as of Madrid's famous blue skies and sunsets. Great for couples, single travelers or good friends.
Cleverly designed to make the most of the space, the apartment has a living room, a sleeping alcove with a very comfortable double bed, a spacious bathroom with shower and a well-equipped kitchenette. Beautiful details include old marble floors, a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and authentic Spanish terracotta kitchen tiles.
Note: an extra mattress (also very comfortable) sleeps a third person, and a fold-up cot is available for traveling babies.
Centrally located in a lovely neighborhood with cobblestoned streets in the heart of Madrid, the apartment is a stone's throw from Gran Vía and Plaza de España, close to Tribunal and Chueca, and within easy walking distance of historic points of interest, such as the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol.
Excellent public transport connections. Near metro stations Noviciado (line 2), Plaza de España (lines 3 and 10) and San Bernardo (line 4). Also within easy walking distance of Tribunal and Bilbao (both line 1).
Elevator, bed and bath linens, kitchen essentials, washing machine, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, ample closet space, TV, phone and internet. A selection of guides and maps of Madrid, Spanish phrasebooks and dictionaries, and an eclectic library of English and Spanish books is also available for the visitor to use.
A personal pad for true romantics.
P.S. For anyone with open-ended plans that wants to explore Spain, please see my 2 listings in Cáceres (world heritage city in off-the-beaten-track Extremadura). Great for anyone who´d like to visit a beautifully conserved medieval city, be close to nature (good for birdwatching too) and get an insider´s glimpse of the "real Spain".
This apartment was formerly owned and designed by Isabel García Tapia (a well-known Spanish interior designer) and has been maintained with care, attention and love. Please treat it the same way!
I loved this apartment. It's in a nice old building, tastefully decorated and very well equipped. The neighbourhood is perfect. Very central, lively and lovely. From the French balcony you look onto a charming, picturesque square which becomes very lively in the evening. On my arrival there were fresh fruits and coffee. Plus all the basic (and more) ingredients for cooking a meal. Super! Nuria was not in town on my arrival, but she called to check if everything was okay. Such a warm welcome ! I met her later. A very nice person. The apartment in on the second floor. Not very high, but if needed you can take the elevator. Everything worked fine: shower, stove, WiFi, fan, airco, tv, etc. Next time in Madrid I certainly will try to book into this apartment.
Nuria was extremely helpful and quickly responded to emails and texts which was fantastic. The apartment was in a great location with a lovely view from the balcony over the square. It has everything you need and the bed was very comfy :) we had a wonderful time in Madrid and that was made even better by staying at Nurias lovely apartment, thank you :)
My first trip to Madrid became beyond perfect - with a stay at Nuria's apartment as well as her attentions to comforts of the guests. She greets you with a personal call, at the least and I'm sure she would greet you warmly personally if she was in town.
There's a list of recommendations and a compendium of information put together by the previous guests that you feel like a oft-visiting relative in the city.
Quaint apartment is airy, sunny and spacious with all the amenities. The sense of being in a better version of my own house was so strong I had to fight temptation to just lounge around!
Nuria did warn me it might get noisy -- the sounds of diners out in the square was my lullaby every night. Had marvelous marvelous time at her apartment and Madrid. I would love to come back again and again!
Nuria was out of Madrid but we still were made welcome with speaking on the telephone and giving us tips.
The accommodation was spacious and similar to the listing.
The area was very good and central

About the Host, Nuria
Hi! I'm half-Spanish, half-American (dad from Spain, mom from USA), so feel I have a foot in both cultures. I teach, translate, and write (I'm the author of "Spanish Among Amigos", two books on conversational Spanish). I like drawing and painting, traveling, meeting people, bodysurfing on empty beaches, nature, animals, good books, good food... And I love Spain: its culture, people, climate, landscape, fiestas, food, wine... I'd love to welcome you to my place, and do all I can to help make your stay here maravilloso! ¡Hasta pronto!
