Conny's appartment is really nice. It's fairly small, but enough for two people an has everything that you need for good vocation. If you want you can spend evenings in a nice garden yard with your own chairs. The description of the appartment is fully correspond to reality.
It has a great location over all main sights. About 10 minutes walk to the central station and city center.
It's the best choice in the ratio of price-quality!
The flat is well located, clean and cosy. Perfect for two people. Conny welcomed us very well and she is available at anytime if you need help! The only little issue was that the heating system doesn't work very well and the water in the shower is not enough hot. Not a problem during summer but the nights were cold during our holidays.
The apartment was perfectly located along the canals and a short walk to everything! The place was very clean and there was the essentials like coffee, tea, oil and vinegar. Nobody likes having to purchase those for one use - so it's always preferred when those items are stocked. She had an umbrella for us to use as it was a rainy weekend. There is a beautiful garden terrace that you can have your morning coffee in too. Conny was very accommodating and let us check in early as we landed at 6am. We would absolutely stay here again!
So my stay here began a bit awkwardly, as I realized on the plane that I had never been given the address for the place. So I arrived in town and had no idea where to specifically go or how best to reach Conny, but after a lot of wandering the neighborhood, I finally managed to find a Wi-Fi spot and make contact with Conny via airbnb emails, and got the address from her; she said the place wasn't quite ready yet but allowed me to drop off my bags while I hung out in the neighborhood waiting for it to be done. I start with this not as a complaint but mostly as a general cautionary tale to all fellow travelers: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE ADDRESS.
Anyway, the place itself is indeed right there on the canal, very close to the Waterlooplein station (which is easily reached from the airport), so quite convenient even for travelers with bags to lug. Those unfamiliar (such as myself) might find the layout of the apartment itself unusual, as basically the front door opens to the garage, which you pass through to get to the courtyard to get to your apartment door. The courtyard, incidentally, is a lovely, serene sitting area I didn't really get a chance to utilize.
Anyway, the place is basically what it claims to be, which is to say that it's a studio with a small kitchen and very economically sized bathroom (the sink is basically IN the shower. I have no idea if this is the norm in Amsterdam, nor am I complaining, just trying to help you picture it). The description of it as "self-catered" does not lie: Pretty much nothing is provided, other than towels and bed linens, a roll of toilet paper, and body wash for the shower.
The location is good both in terms of scenery and convenience; there's plenty of decent places right around the corner in both directions, and everything I specifically wanted to go to was about a 1 -2 mile walk (or bike ride, if you will).
But what I'm getting at here is that this isn't the lap of luxury, nor does it claim to be; it serves its purpose, i.e., it's a suitable and well-situated place for a single person to crash and bathe. (Yes, a couple COULD stay here, but...I dunno, that sounds a little crowded for my tastes. One is ideal.)
Conny seemed very nice and friendly; because the apartment was so self-explanatory and I had no further questions, our face-to-face time was fairly brief, but I don't doubt she'd be quite helpful if need be.
In short: If I don't sound wildly enthusiastic about the place, it's not because I didn't like it, it's simply not the sort of place to inspire passion either way. It's a Spartan, convenient, fairly comfortable, peaceful and centrally located studio, nor more or less. You'll be perfectly fine here, just keep your expectations reasonable.
This clean and compact studio is merely suitable for independent travelers that either come prepared or are fine to go with the flow. Guests booking this studio are mostly youngsters who want to stay central but at a quiet place with an outdoors. They like being on their own in a private place and they value rest and privacy. They are easygoing, fairly selfstarting and they expect from their accommodation that it is a modern and convenient place to explore the city from.
