We had a fabulous stay in Florence and it was made that way because of this great apartment and the lovely Maria's suggestions for food and sight seeing. As the apartment is right in the square it can be noisier in the evening, all I would say is bring ear plugs if noise bothers you, do not stay anywhere else while in Florence!
Looking for a place with a "wow" factor? That's what drew us to this apartment, and we were not disappointed. We marveled each day of our stay that we could gaze out any one of the four large windows directly onto the historic Duomo. The constant hum of activity in the plaza below was a small price to pay to be located in the heart of the city. And the rental fee was surely much less than any hotel boasting such a huge suite with such an amazing view, not to mention a frescoed ceiling in the bedroom.
The apartment was furnished with all the basics you might need, albeit only "basic" in quality. (Ironic to think we were looking out at the centuries-old Duomo through the identical Ikea-brand curtains found in our own rental apartment back home.)
We were met by Maria, who was very friendly and helpful.
Overall, a great place.
Our stay in this apartment truly was wonderful.
The location was fantastic; overlooking the Duomo, on the quieter side of the square, we were able to walk across Florence in no time at all. It was incredible waking up with the windows open onto the cathedral and seeing the locals head to work. Being close to the indoor food market we followed in their footsteps and headed to buy breakfast and stock up on burrata. Lunch at the food market was also good, when we decided to make the most of the upstairs section.
The size of the apartment was perfect, conversation with the host and Maria was very efficient. Maria greeted my friend for check in and kindly provided a map of a number of places we should visit. We had no issues during our stay and would definitely stay again, if possible, on our next visit to Florence.
The view to this apartment is spectacular and the location is the best. The apartment is so noisy especially with the World Cup going on. At least two of the nights we didn't get to sleep till 3am and that was with ear plugs.
The property was not as attractive as in the photos. The bedroom lights did not work, there was a shelf in the living room that was hanging off the wall and there were swatted bugs on the wall. Also the bed that is in the photos is not the one pictured which was upsetting. We didn't expect to pay that price for two single beds pushed together. Maria was very helpful when she met us telling us tips and which places to eat at etc...she was half an hour late to meet us also. Although the view is amazing I feel that the price was too much for the actual apartment which is a shame.
We loved the location of this apartment. The pictures are accurate; the apartment really is that close to the Duomo! This was our favorite apartment during our 3-week stay in Italy. We stayed here for 6 days/nights. It was convenient to everything in Florence, everything being within walking distance, including the train station.
We were met by Maria. She was very nice, answering all our questions, and gave us tips on local restaurants and the nearest grocery store. We used her advice and saved a lot of money by shopping at the Conad market, where by the way, they sold super yummy, freshly-made paninis.
The apartment was bigger than we expected, with a very large open kitchen/dining room, a good-sized bathroom, separate vanity area, a washing machine room, living room, and large master bedroom with beautiful artwork. It was clean and equipped with a good amount of modest furniture. We absolutely loved the 4 full-sized windows looking directly out to the Duomo. The windows really made this apartment special.
The king-sized bed in the master bedroom was actually two twin beds attached, but was very comfortable. The washing machine made it easy to wash towels and clothing during our stay. We were a little disappointed to learn there was not a dryer available, despite a dryer being listed as an amenity. However, there was a large drying rack available that worked quite well.
The kitchen included a large refrigerator/freezer, an electric 4-burner stove and a small oven. The stove worked well, but the light above was not working. We did not try the oven, but it looked pretty new. We did have to purchase many of our own supplies, such as hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry detergent and a sponge, but I guess whoever stayed next did not have to. Hot water ran well throughout the apartment, so we never had a cold shower and always had hot water to do our dishes. The apartment was described to have a “large shower”, which was misleading. The shower in the apartment was extremely small, at most about 4 square feet. It was difficult to fit into, even for me at 5’2”, 95lbs. You can only imagine how my 6’ tall, 175lb. husband felt. We managed, but would have much preferred a larger shower.
We really enjoyed our time at this apartment and did not want to leave. Our biggest complaint was just the late night/early morning noise level. It seemed every night at about 11pm, the restaurant below became wildly loud. There was even an opera singer singing outside once at 1am! One way to solve this might be to replace the thin glass windows with dual-pane windows. We booked this apartment knowing it would be loud at night. We just did not know the noise would last until about 3am.
Overall, we would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a nice spacious apartment with an absolutely breathtaking view, right in the center of Florence!
My fiancé and I enjoyed staying in this perfectly located apartment. It's right next to the Duomo so if you're walking around Florence and you get lost, just walk towards the Duomo! One negative of the location is the noise at night- many college kids party on the steps of the Duomo and you will hear them partying until the wee hours of the night. Just bring ear plugs. We never had the church bells wake us up, so that was good. The place is actually bigger than we thought it would be. There's even a living room! The bed in the master bedroom is comfortable- but please note that it is two twin beds pushed together. There isn't a big gap though so a couple will be fine sleeping here. The ceiling above the bed is awesome.
The one thing that I really didn't like was the shower stall. It is incredibly small. You can barely bend over inside of it. And I'm 5'3" and weigh 110 pounds so I'm petite and don't take up a lot of room. But if you can deal with that for a few days during your visit to Florence, don't let it drive you away from this greatly located apartment.
We were greeted by a woman named Maria who was friendly and was able to meet us at midnight when we arrived. Even at that late hour she sat down with me and gave me a map and told me all about her favorite places to visit and where to eat. Her recommendations were all wonderful!!
PLEASE NOTE: THEY CHARGED US €20 EXTRA FOR ARRIVING AFTER 8PM. This was not on their listing and we weren't informed of this until a day or two before we arrived. I believe it is also against airb&b policy for any host to collect cash on site. It was late and we were traveling so we didn't argue but you should be aware of this fact.
Overall this apartment is beautiful, spacious, clean and in the perfect location. Enjoy your stay in Venice. And make sure you eat at All Antico Vinaio to get paninis, and go to GustaPizza for the best pizza you will ever eat in your life. Enjoy!
Never met Francesco, but was assisted very kindly and helpfully by Maria Murillo. She recommended lots of fantastic places to eat and had many helpful tips. The apartment was exactly as described--comfortable, spacious and amazing views of the Duomo. My only complaint is that many of the light fixtures in the apartment were not working, and there were not many lamps, so it got a little too dim at night.
If we go back to Florence, I would certainly consider staying there again.
Maria met us at the apartment with a set of keys. She was very personable and helpful with suggestions regarding restaurants and shopping.
The apartment is located very close to the Duomo making many of the popular sights in easy walking distance and making for nice views. The furnishings are very basic and of modest quality, for example the bed does not have a box spring. It reminds me of someone’s very first apartment. We did not cook, so I cannot comment on the extent of kitchen supplies. To reach the apartment, it is up two flights of stairs without an elevator (lift). No a big deal for most, unless you have heavy luggage.
The apartment itself is extremely noisy. There are loud sirens (ambulances being dispatched nearby) routinely through the day and night. The crowd noise from the streets continues through the night and into the early morning. Much of the noise could be eliminated if the old, thin windows would be replaced with modern dual pane windows. In the meantime you will need a good pair of ear plugs in order to sleep. I could not recommend this apartment to friends until the noise issue was resolved and the furnishings were upgraded and modernized. If these improvements were done, we would stay there again ourselves.
Very nice flat with an amazing view & a great location!
The appartment is a bit noisy but I would definitely recommend this flat if you want to visit firenze.
Francesco, Maria and Razib are very nice and helpful.
The location was wow! We saw the Duomo through all 4 windows, terrific!
The appartment was good and clean, but a bit old-fashioned. We had an issue with the fridge, it wasn't closing well. Rasib came to fix it a bit, so it could close a bit. He told that after our stay a technician would fix the problem.
The bedroom was really big and the bed was comfortable. Considerating that the appartment is located in front of the main tourist attraction of Firenze, it is sometimes a bit noisy. We didn't have any problem with it, sleeping was no problem at all too.
We will for sure consider this appartment again, when we return to Firenze.
