House available in the historic gold mining town of Beechworth in North East Victoria, Australia. Our house is generally only available on weekends and/or when we go away on holidays so guests would have the whole place to themselves. If we get a weekend booking it's a perfect excuse for us to travel somewhere else for a couple of days. We do not run a B&B as such but are happy to make our home available when we're not staying there. For more information on travel, attractions and much more on Beechworth and the surrounding area visit (website hidden)
The main bedroom has a queen sized bed and the second smaller room has a double bed suitable for another couple or a single. Towels and linen in provided. Free wifi (fast broadband) is available for your smart phone or computer. The house is only a 5min walk (500m) from the centre of town with a range of cafe's, a famous bakery, microbrewery, wine bars, 4 pubs and some excellent dining, unique shopping and the historic precinct available. From the verandah at the front of the house there is a great view of the gorge and the National Park. Walking trails in the National Park are also literally only a few minutes walk away. We have a couple of chooks that roam around the back yard. Help yourself to their free range eggs ! There's a big outdoor BBQ in the back yard too which guests are more than welcome to use.
Beechworth is a great destination for mountain biking...we are active mountain bikers ourselves and can help you enjoy the local riding including the local mountain bike park. The town is also a great base to travel further afield in the north-east including the wineries of Rutherglen (30min), the picture postcard mountain township of Bright (40min), spectacular Mt Buffalo National Park (1hour), Mt Beauty (1hour) and the alpine snow resorts of Mt Hotham and Falls Creek (1.5hours).
If you're travelling on the Hume Freeway between Melbourne and Canberra or Sydney, Beechworth is an excellent detour (only an extra 20min driving off the Hume) and stopover to break the drive. Albury/Wodonga is 30min drive to the north and Wangaratta is 25min drive to the south of Beechworth.
Public transport is available to Beechworth by train and coach bus service from both Wangaratta and Albury.
Paul's house is only a couple of minutes walking distance to town, which meant getting home from the Beechworth Brewery was no problem. The house is cosy and pretty and has everything you need for cooking and the bed is very comfortable. The verandah has a lovely view and we enjoyed meals and relaxing there. We look forward to staying there again.
We had a great weekend at Paul's place which is an excellent location. Paul was very flexible and patient with my changing arrangements. Thanks Paul
We had a great stay in Paul's house. I've stayed in the area many time and this was by far the best accommodation.
We stayed for a bike race and were so well rested we picked up first place in our category. Thanks Paul!
Paul's house in Beechworth was fine for a short stay. A lovely view from the verandah and close to the town's main streets. Unfortunately there was some confusion regarding the the definition of "pets allowed". We had four small, clean, house trained, well behaved dogs with us,(our little family) and had not anticipated that having them indoors would be a problem so we were quite surprised and alarmed by Paul's text message at 3am,alerting us to his annoyance!
Apart from that (!) no major complaints.
We had a great experience at Paul's house in Beechworth. The house was warm and comfortable and
Paul made sure that we had all the local information that we needed to make the most of our stay. Beechworth shops were only a short stroll away and Paul's home was the perfect base for exploring the area. We also loved looking after 'Bindi' the dog who has a lovely gentile nature and didn't bark at all.
We had a fabulous time at Paul and Narelle's place! Paul was excellent with communication. The place was in an ideal location in Beechworth - a leisurely 10 minute stroll into the centre of town. It had everything we needed and was lovely and warm for our winter long weekend stay. We would recommend it to anyone wanting a cosy relaxing weekend away! We highly recommend Beechworth for a holiday too - a fantastic town with great food, wine, coffee and shopping!
Communication with Paul was easy. He was quick to reply and confirm our booking. The day before the booking we chatted and he let me know where the keys were etc. Upon arrival the heater was on and the house pleasantly warm. The house is lovely. Clean, neat and with everything you could need for a weekend away. Beechworth town centre is a short walk up the hill so you dont even really need to drive anywhere once you arrive.
I wouldnt hesitate to stay with Paul again. The experience was great!
The best part was clear and fast communication with Paul. His house is spacious and clean as in the photo and conveniently located. We spent every morning on the veranda with beautiful view having breakfast. We enjoyed lovely walks with his dog Vindi, best behaved good tempered dog I've ever come across. I can recommend Paul's house to anyone who would like to have an accommodation value for money.
Walking distance into town, this house is a comfortable, neat and tidy place to stay. The gorgeous view out the front to watch the sun go down is an added bonus. Communication with Paul was always prompt and friendly; we would recommend the property and hosts to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the area.
Paul's house is lovely — cosy, comfortable, and in a great part of town. The street was quiet (the view over the gorge is amazing!) and we had a lot of fun in Beechworth over Easter. There's also plenty to do in the surrounding areas — Mount Buffalo National Park was a definite highlight. Paul was really easygoing, and his communication was clear and very responsive. Would definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area.
