Callington, England, United Kingdom

The Sidings is located in the Tamar Valley which is an area of outstanding natural beauty and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The area is one of Cornwall's best kept secrets and many people pass by it favouring more well known tourist spots totally unaware of this hidden gem of a place and all that it has on offer for visitors.
The Sidings has an expansive view directly overlooking open farmland, the stunning Tamar Valley and the Dartmoor National Park with it's many tors. Bodmin Moor is located just a short drive to the west, so it's perfectly situated for those who like to spend their time taking in the countryside and sightseeing/walking and taking photos/making memories.
The local area has a wealth of things to do for every type of visitor with practically every interest and taste catered for.
There are plenty of pubs and eateries close by and also a large supermarket (Tesco) within 2 miles and plenty of farm shops providing local produce close by for those who wish to home cook during their stay.
The Sidings provides quiet, comfortable, well equipped and relaxing space for those just wanting to 'get away from it all' find some peace, tranquility and relaxation.
Plymouth is a historical and interesting city to visit with plenty to do at any time of year. The Sidings provides and excellent base for those planning to visit this fabulous and diverse city.
The Sidings sits at over 800 feet above sea level at the foot of the second highest point in Cornwall (Kit Hill), hence the extensive breathtaking views from the property. Don't forget to visit Kit hill and it's monument, on a clear day the view is spectacular and guests often visit the summit to enjoy the often spectacular sunset or, for the early risers, sunrise.

Whilst on holiday in St Mawes, Cornwall having lunch at The Pandora Inn at Mylor with my sister and brother in law back in September '14, my husband Tim and I decided it was time to make some changes in our lives and we both went on to give up our long term careers; I worked in foreign exchange and had been based at Gatwick Airport for 23 years and my husband in the motor trade in Beckenham, Kent for over 30 years. We then went on to sell our home in Surrey and moved to Cornwall in August '17 - two years ahead of our planned target! We both love everything about our lives in Cornwall we feel blessed to enjoy the added benefit of living just under 2 miles from the border between Cornwall and Devon. During our working lives, we both especially enjoyed the customer service side of our roles so it was a natural transition of career for us to join forces and combined our shared passion and skill sets together running our two holiday homes - The Signal Box and The Sidings. We believe we've achieved the perfect balance here with both holiday properties located in totally different unique and private areas of our former railway station home with both set well away from the main station house and so that guests can enjoy a privacy, seclusion and peace. Since moving to Cornwall, we have spent our time renovating our home and improving our holiday homes and the grounds of the station creating, what for us, is a unique and special place to live and for people to visit. Since we opened The Signal Box and The Sidings we have welcomed and listened to feedback from guests as well as ideas and advice from friends and family and using this valuable information we continually strive to keep improving and refreshing our offering. Whilst we were closed for business during the pandemic we were grateful that we were given the opportunity and downtime to make changes and improvements to both The Sidings and The Signal Box that we believe have added to the overall experience. Enjoying 'that view' has been the number one positive comment shared by our visitors and we feel that the addition of hot tubs and outside undercover areas facing 'that view' added to the experience and provided additional covered outdoor space for when the weather and seasons dictate. We are really looking forward to the seasons ahead and will continue striving together to provide guests with totally unique and memorable experiences at The Signal Box and The Sidings. Constructive feedback is always welcomed so that we may continue to improve. Our life her isn't just about us, we have some very much loved pets too... Rico, is our 6.5 year old big grey soppy rescued Italian Mastiff (Cane Corso) - we understand that many guests bring their own dogs here with them so we tend to keep him out of the way in our part of the property when guests advise us that they are bringing their dogs with them. Our cats Florence (fluffy black) and Dougal (fluffy ginger) are 3 years old, and brother and sister - born in the RSPCA in Cornwall and both wonderful personalities but tend to stay out of the way. The three sheep living in the paddock surrounding The Signal Box (all tame and all dog friendly/savy) are: Francis (the big boy) he's the oldest at 4 years old and I brought him down from Surrey to live with us in Cornwall, he was a tame bottle fed lamb in a farmers field and I fell in love with him and wanted to save him from his fate... The two other little sheep are Boris and Donald - they are rare breed white faced Dartmoor sheep that I bought from a farm in Devon. The breed originates from the Dartmoor area so I felt they were ideal to join the Luckett Station flock. I leave treat food available at The Signal Box for those who wish to feed the greedy sheep. We have just added another little lamb to the Luckett Flock - 7 week old Thomas joined us in July and is currently spending time segregated from the other sheep and slowly getting to know them and settling in. I also keep 10 beautiful pet chickens in a large enclosure close to the main house, (and regularly let them roam in the station grounds) 4 stunning grey, white and black copper marans amongst them. If they are available, guests are offered eggs to buy for their stay - they're delicious! That’s about it...
