Interaction with Guests
Our guest apartment is a private place. We like to show our guests around Philadelphia if this is appreciated, if this is not the case we keep to ourselves and the guests keep to themselves.
This is a very diverse, some may say "bohemian", neighborhood with many fancy restaurants. Easy access to center city by trolley, and easy walk to the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. Just a great place to live.
Trolleys stop nearby, so getting to center city is very conveninent and takes not more than 20 minutes. The PENN bus stops also just a block away. PENN, Drexel, and the University of the Sciences are within walking distance (10 to 25 minutes), and bicycles are available in the basement.
Other Things to Note
When using the washer dryer, please keep the appliances clean. Also, the lint filter of the dryer must be cleaned each time after use. Finally, those guests who stay longer than a month must purchase their own laundry fluid.
No smoking, No pets. No using of my cell phone number for food delivery.
Christof is a very thoughtful host. Clean, top quality towels were provided; fridge was stocked with orange juice, milk, bagels and spread and fruits. The place was cleaned thoroughly before our arrival. Air conditioning units worked well. On the last day, we had to look for a place to store our luggage after check out and Christof offered us his basement storage. Would definitely recommend this beautifully decorated unit to anyone.
Christof couldn't have been more considerate or charmimg. He kept us up to date with local events and provided the most delicious bagels. The apartment was as described. It was very clean and very comfortable. Access to downtown was really easy and good fun on the trolley. Probably the best bit is the neighbourhood. It is vibrant and you feel part of the city just staying there. Some nice cafes in walking distance with Dock Street Brewery a highlight. I would not hesitate to recommend the apartment.
Christof was very helpful throughout, made access and entry easy, and introduced himself.
The place was just what we needed and had expected.
The neighborhood area was near Penn, restaurants, transportation; it was very friendly; mixed groups of people; growing and changing.
I had actually booked this reservation not for myself, but for two artists that I was bringing to Philadelphia to install an exhibition. Christof was very understanding of this unusual request and was very accommodating of the artists' needs. They really enjoyed the neighborhood and loved the apartment. Also, Christof really came through on the night of the artists' opening by allowing the artists to have additional overnight guests after their friends were not able to find any hotel vacancy due to a conference that was in town. Christof even went as far as to find another mattress for these guests after it was discovered that their was a hole in the air mattress. All in all, the artists greatly enjoyed their stay and I appreciated Christof's responsiveness in working out the logistics. Thank you again for a wonderful Airbnb experience, Christof!
Christof's apartment is convenient, clean and spacious. He was kind and accomodating and helpful when he stopped by to welcome us. The bagels and cream cheese in the fridge and fresh fruit were an especially nice touch (even though we can't eat wheat). Location is convenient and walkable with great coffee (Satellite Cafe) and Laotian and Thai food (Vietenne Cafe) just a few blocks away. Parking was super convenient and easy to find. Friendly neighbors as well. Will definitely be back.

About the Host, Christof
Born in Switzerland, trained first in fine arts, then in Medicine (both in Zurich) - specialized in the creation of online resources for medical education first in Berne, then at Dartmouth Medical School's Interactive Media Lab and finally Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. Very happily married with Magalene from Pirenopolis, Goias, Central Brazil where we partly live. I consider myself a very fortunate "citizen of the world" and have a real understanding of the needs of international visitors, still remembering how it was when we arrived in Hanover, New Hampshire (Dartmouth) into an empty house, waiting for the container with all our staff to arrive.
