Beautiful stone built bothy dating back to 19th century. Lovingly restored with original stonework around a cosy wood burner. We offer outstanding views across the Kyle of Sutherland and are situated in quiet countryside. The Bothy has a small kitchen (with limited cooking e.g. microwave oven), bathroom with shower and use of laundry facilities if required. We are situated 1 hour North of Inverness and only 1 hour from Ullapool on the stunning NC500 route. BBQ and charcoal provided.

The space
Rowanberry Bothy is an ideal escape into the beauty of the Scottish Highlands. Enjoy a romantic getaway or plan an adventurous holiday whilst staying in this cosy little bothy surrounded by woodland, rivers and lochs. There is plenty of walking, mountain biking, fishing and hill climbing right on the doorstep here with an adventure just around the corner. You may spot white tailed eagles, pine martens, sika deer and otters in this area.

Within the Bothy, the stacker beds can be utilised as one large double or two single beds. The small kitchenette has a kettle, toaster, sandwich grill and a microwave oven. We provide a continental breakfast.
There is a newly installed toilet and shower, and on the colder nights you can cuddle up in front of the cosy wood burning stove.

Parking is free and shared with the owners but with plenty of space for larger vehicles. Pets are welcome strictly by arrangement only.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to Rowanberry Bothy and hope you have a wonderful stay in The Highlands!

Full use of our large, natural garden.

Other things to note

Recommend the Pier Restaurant in Lairg for great food. There is a small cafe about 3 miles from the bothy which serves coffee and lunches. The Achness Hotel offers meals all year round and is pet friendly. The small, historic town of Dornoch is a must visit, as is Dunrobbin Castle, the Falls of Shin and Cassley Falls where you can watch the salmon leaping. We are perfectly placed if you are planning to bag a few Munros with many iconic mountains in vicinity. A trip to the many beautiful, unspoiled beaches along the NW coast such as Clachtoll or Durness is also highly recommended.

Hello, my name is Carol and I live here at Linside with my husband, Alex, our Border Collie, Morag and our 2 cats, Barley and Piseag. My husband and I absolutely love living here and decided to renovate our stone bothy in our beautiful, natural garden so that we can share this amazing space with others who also have a love and appreciation of nature and the wild. We hope that the space we created in Rowanberry Bothy will be a relaxing escape for people visiting the Highlands and we always aim to treat our guests with the warmest of welcomes and want you to feel like part of the family. Alex has travelled round the world, raising money for charity and has been to Everest base camp not once, but twice! We both love culture and enjoy hearing about where our guests have traveled from. We are so excited to welcome you to our Bothy and we look forward to meeting people from all over the world!
