« By far the best place we stayed ever at, in Paris. We go there at least twice a year on business, and have stayed in various hotels and apartments. This apartment fits the description in every aspect and it was a pleasure to deal with the owner. The place is spacious, clean, has any amenity you could wish for and perfect location. We were very comfortable there and would love to stay there again, next time.
Thank you Jean Michel! »

The apartment is just a few hundred feet downhill from one of Paris' breathtaking monuments: the SACRE COEUR and its great view on Paris.

The walk to Sacre Coeur is charming as you make your way up hill via stairs and quiet cobble stone streets.

Our part of Montmarte is a rich mix of ethnic and young Parisians, Prim old ladies, jocular bistro owners, young artists - everyone knows everyone in our neighborhood, and unlike in Paris’s chillier, more bourgeois neighborhoods, here we say “hello.”

We're in a perfect place to go and explore Paris from.

- Next to Buses and Subway lines.
- If you are coming from or heading to London, Brussel or Amsterdam, the apartment is not far from Gare du Nord

« Perfect, a beautiful, spacious and elegant apartment. Every detail is lovely. Both Jean-Michel and Martine are thoughtful, generous hosts whose recommendations and advice were fantastic. Montmartre is rich with diversity and without exception the people were friendly and helpful. I would love to return to this wonderful place, thank you so much."

« I highly recommend this lovely flat. We had a wonderful experience here. It is very light, with very high ceilings, and quite roomy. It is spare and uncluttered, but well-appointed. Everything was extremely clean and fresh. There was plenty of bedding and towels. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The neighborhood was great, and easy to get to and to get around the city. The host, Martine, was fantastic--friendly, helpful and full of great information. Jean-Michel provided a very helpful package with info on getting to the neighborhood & flat, places in the area, etc. We'll definitely come back. »

« Jean-michel is not lying when he says his apartment is big and beautiful! Compared to other Parisian apartments, which are notoriously tiny, this one is a palace in size, light and airy and very good value. We LOVED the area. It's one thing to be in walking distance to Sacre Coeur and Pigalle, but it's even better when you can also feel a part of a small neighborhood even for a few days; excellent fresh produce just across the street, the sweetest friendly barista who tries so hard to help you understand French, the excellent food, wine and staff at Cheri Bibi and other close by bars, a passionately delicious fromagerie, artisan boulangeries in morning-stroll distance. We also loved the less traveled back streets which take you up and down and around the back of Sacre Coeur and the street energy around the Metro stations very close by. We had a great stay and highly recommend this apartment! »

Most visitors and residents of Paris are familiar with the famous Butte de Montmartre, and its wedding-cake Basilique Sacré-Coeur. After Amélie and Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge, even people who have never been there before recognize the Place des Abbesses and the neon windmill at Place Clichy.

But that’s only half the story of this unique Parisian village. Look past the Sacre Coeur and the Moulin Rouge for a Montmartre off the beaten tourist path. Village Ramey next to Abbesses is where resident Parisians eat and shop – and live - without a postcard stand, tour bus, or portrait artist in sight!

Just a few hundred feet downhill from Sacre Coeur and from the overly trendy Abbesses, in the Village Ramey quartier, a more authentic kind of charm is still alive. the small streets winding down the hill are calm and seem to feel a world away. Sure, its cobblestoned streets are being slicked up by trendy boutiques (gentrification is really kicking in turning Village Ramey into the new Abbesses), but the surrounding lanes are still lined with vegetable stands and open-air cafés.

And if you want and explore paris, jump in the bus (line 80, 85, 31) or subway (Line 2). Bus 85 gets you to the Jardin de Luxembourg, Notre Dame and the Louvre. Bus 80 bus takes you along the beautiful rue Caulaincourt and zooms you over to the Champs Elysée by the scenic route allowing you to take in the architecture and grandeur of Paris' arrondissements. Bus 31 gets you to Gare du Nord et gare de L’Est if you need to take the train at one of those train station. Bus 31 also gets you directly to l’Arc de triomphe on top of the Champs Elysee.

    even a renitent television

and "georgeous" is quite true !

  • We stayed at Jean Michel's apartment during the first weekend of March and it was a perfect weekend. My sister and I were running the Paris Half Marathon and the apartment gave us everything we could want in regards to preparing for the race and then offering somewhere to collapse after. The living space is gorgeous and you do not feel like you are on top of each other.
Martine was a wonderful host and couldn't have been more helpful in showing us around and offering advice on the best ways to see the city.
We couldn't recommend Jean Michel's apartment more in regards to location and offering a beautiful place to stay whilst visiting Paris.

  • We didn't meet Jean Michel but his assistance and communication were faultless. Martine welcomed us at the apartment and was a delight. For these reasons alone I would recommend the apartment. But add in the bus straight to The Louvre departing from over the road, the metro & Sacre Coeur a few minutes walk away, the roomy and stylish apartment - we were very happy! The neighbourhood isn't the Champs-Elysees so if that's what you want go there. It is a multi cultural mix of residential, shops, offices and restaurants and perhaps gives you a little more of the flavour of the real Paris.

  • I've spent great time in Paris because I could find great apartment using AIR BNB.
I'm thank you for Jean Michel and next time when I go to Paris again, I hope to stay his apartment.

  • Me and my family had some fine days in Paris
The flat was perfect, no problems at all

  • Myself, my boyfriend and another couple stayed at Jean Michele's place for three nights at the end of January and we couldn't have hoped for a better experience. The apartment is absolutely fabulous and very spacious. It is so beautiful and Parisian, and in a really great location. The metro is just a minute's walk, and it was so close to Garde du Nord which was handing for us coming on the Eurostar. Jean Michele and Martine couldnt have been more accommodating with us arriving late on the Thursday night, and then allowing us to leave our luggage with them for the day on Sunday, so we didn't have to drag our cases around with us on the following day.

We are already planning our trip next year. In comparison to the cost of hotels in Paris, we couldn't have asked for more. Jean Michele's booklet with tips for restaurants and bars locally etc was also really useful.

  • We stayed in Jean Michel's Vacation rental for about 5 days in January on a scale from 1 to 5 we give his place a solid 3.5; however, Paris in general gets a 5.5! The vacation rental was clean but clearly old with mildew in the bathroom. The room was not fully prepped for us when we arrived. The towels from the previous renters were hanging to dry on chairs and their old soap was still in the bathroom. That combined with the TV not working the entire time of our stay and no effort by Jean Michel to fix it are the reasons for the lower review. Nonetheless the rental was spacious and the kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and cooking pans--albeit the biggest burner on the stove was cracked and unusable during our stay.

The area outside the rental was generally safe, although not a place you would feel very comfortable going for late night strolls. The property is sort of on a fringe area that is close to the posh Sacre-Cour Basillica area and an Arab and African part of the city. You are closer to the Arab-African part and will have a LOT of graffiti to look at outside your window and expect multiple people to try to sell you black market phones and goods on your way to the metro. Nonetheless the metro is close and takes you anywhere you want to go in Paris. Overall, we had a good time and do not regret the trip; however, next time we probably would look for a different place to stay (more because of the area rather than the aesthetics of the rental itself).

    Response from Jean Michel:

We’ve welcomed many guests in our apartment – The best part of the job is to actually meet our guests – We meet great people – And sometimes, there's bumps on the road. Staying at our place is a two way street. If our guests don’t like something when checking in, we ask our guests to let us know as soon as they get in the apartment. We always propose to bring our professional cleaning crew back for free to clean the place over if it is not clean enough – It is better not to wait for the last day/check out to complain about every little details – Again, hosting and staying in our place is a two way street based on open discussion. Our guests should expect the best from us and we thrive in being welcoming, but we expect courtesy in exchange – We don’t expect them to burn pans (we expect them to be careful with them - Crystal and her party were not) – We don't expect them to leave the place a mess. We don’t expect our guests to linger in the apartment hours after the check out time and make us wait downstairs for a hour while they get ready to leave 6 hours after the regular check out time (as Crystal did). We go out of our way to explain to our guests how to navigate Paris, what bus or subway line to take to get around – All seemed fine during her stay, until check-out? -- To call the apartment old when it was refurnished and redesigned 3 years ago and praised by many of our guests as modern, spacious and comfortable is a bit dubious. FINALLY, since this seems to be the main issue: the large majority of our guests love our neighborhood and its youthful diversity. This is Paris: a multicultural metropolis (as it’s always been). While we (the black, yellow, brown, white Frenchies) still love our baguette, very few of us wear beret anymore. Times are changing. Welcome to the new Paris.

  • We had an amazing time in Paris at Jean-Michel's flat. The location is fantastic and very accessible. We were travelling with 2 young babies and found all of the amenities perfectly suited to a family. Martine the Paris host was incredible responsive when we had questions or needed guidance about the area or things in the apartment. Would certainly love to stay here again!!!

  • My sister and I had a great two week stay in Montmartre. We loved the neighborhood-small local restaurants, great shops and services and winding streets with lovely views. The back bedrooms were quiet and the beds comfortable. More living room furniture would be (email hidden)e couch might be near its time and chairs, end tables and lighting would help. The kitchen and dining room worked well. Hot water for showers was a challenge and suspect it is a function of the building. The 85 bus across the street took us to the right and left bank and the 4metro took us there as well. We felt safe and had got a good value. The Carrefour across the street was well stocked. Would stay at the apartment again.
