Guest Access

Guests will have access to their bedroom, the bathroom, and all community space (living room, kitchen, deck, parking area). The place comes fully furnished. The guests room includes a brand NEW queen size bed, closet, dresser, desk, and chair. The guest is also permitted to use the kitchen, fridge, stove, and sink area (please clean behind yourself). The guest can also use the 60" 3D TV as well. :-)

Interaction with Guests

I interact with my guests as much as is needed to ensure they are comfortable, and get everything they need. If I am around during the guests stay I will typically see them a few times and help answer any questions they may have. Beyond that I provide the privacy my guests deserve. :-)

The Neighborhood

Eastlake is an amazing neighborhood that most people overlook in Seattle. It has everything you need from grocery stores, restaurants, and cafes to bar, public transportation and views.

Eastlake Union is on the east shoreline of Lake Union (hence the name) and this provides a great location for views, walks, swims, kayaking, paddle boarding, and pleasant people. Because of the location, nearly everything is close. Pending traffic you can typically get to almost anywhere within Seattle proper within 5 - 15 minutes.

Getting around

Public transportation is simple in Eastlake. Several bus routes run north and south on Eastlake Union Avenue.

Taxis/Cabs, Lyft, Sidecar, Car2Go, and Ubers frequent the area. There are also a couple rental car places that are nearby.

Getting to and from the airport is easy. The best options are: town car or Uber ($50 with tip + 20 minutes) , tax ($60 with tip + 20 minutes), or to save some cash with the Light Rail Train to Westlake Center and a short cab ride ($3 + $12 + 45 minutes + 10 minutes). Pricing and times are estimates and may vary pending the traffic.

Other Things to Note

I recently purchased a BRAND NEW BED for my guests!!! It's a brand new Sealy Posturepedic memory foam pillow top queen size bed. I bought it in response to my past guests' experiences. I'm sure people will love the bed now. Get ready for the best sleep of your life. It's super comfortable!

  • My fiance and I decided to do a quick trip to Seattle (from Vancouver, Canada) for the weekend. We fired Derrick a message on AirBNB and got an immediate response. Once our booking was confirmed, Derrick gave us all the pertinent information we needed for our weekend trip and was very helpful with our questions.

When we arrived at the apartment, Derrick's instructions and planning to get us into the home were a breeze. His place is less than a 10mn drive to downtown Seattle and is in a very quiet area. We parked behind his apartment (free) and found the area a great jump off to our various adventures.

In terms of the apartment itself, Derrick keeps a very tidy abode. My fiance is much more of a clean freak than myself and she was very pleased with the home's appearance and overall cleanliness. Our bedroom was nice, quiet and private and the kitchen/living room area was very spacious.

All in all, Derrick was an extremely gracious host and I would not hesitate to stay at Derrick's again on a future visit to Seattle.

  • We arrived late at night and Derrick left the keys outside the building in a locker system. It was easy to access. Merlin said "HI" to us. There were towels for us and the bed was ok. We spend 4 nights at his place. Derrick seems to be nice even we haven't seen him much often. The appartement has a nice view over the town. We walked to Downtown in about 45 minutes. Nice when the sun comes up.
The place wasn't really cleaned up but it didn't bother us too much. We think that if there is a cleaning fee the place should be clean.

  • Derrick is a great host with really decent manner and personalities. My flight schedule was a bit messed up, but all the time he was very informative and we kept good communication.

His apartment is in the middle of everything and easy for getting downtown and U district. For girls, the location of apartment is definitely safe. Bus stop is close to the place, and Voxx coffee, restaurants are within couple blocks.

His cat Merlin is a sweet kid and a great company while you are there. I really enjoy my 4 nights stay at his apartment and I'm sure you will.

  • All good in Derric's home!
The room is spacious, clean and luminous. I read some non postives review about the mattres but to me was excelent.
There are restaurants, cafeterias, grocery shops and the lake 3 blocks away to see beautiful sunsettings.
I have very good communication and coordination with Derrick is a cool guy, relax easy going and always ready to help. The cat is really nice and waiting for you to rubbing it.
Be sure you'll have a great time at Derric's home.

  • Nice place, but the water bed made me fell cold during the night.

    October 2013
  • Derrick is a gentleman and a good airbnb host. We had good complete communication and he met us at the appointed time with keys and even a parking pass for a spot at the apts.

We are glad we ended up driving and had a car and with the parking pass it was the best choice by far. We did take a long walk one day and ended up at night at Pike's Place Market, a cab ride home with tip was only $13.00. There a

We saw lots of car to go cars one could use as well (if you are already signed up, that is).

The Thai restaurant just south of his place, on opposite side of street, was fantastic and as we hit there daily Happy Hour, 3pm -6pm, a good bargain for lots of great choices. Service was stellar.
Our room was spacious with almost nothing in it except what a guest needs. (No extra personal stuff of his). The air bed is a good one and plenty comfy.
The cat Merlin is the nicest, sweetest creature, and I am not particularly found of cats;-)
    Thanks Derrick

  • Derrick was away while we stayed at his place so we had it to ourselves except for Merlin the cat who was an excellent host. We both loved Merlin who has a super cute squeaky meow!

    September 2013
  • Derrick was a lifesaver after staying with friends in Seattle fell through. He welcomed us in from our late train arrival, accommodating us on both check in and check out.
The Eastlake view from his place is incredible; we could have spent all night on the balcony. Inside, the room was comfortable, with a desk, dresser, and closet to keep things organized during our stay. I loved that the room had a big open window bringing in fresh air, as well as visits from his awesome cat, who was very friendly and fun.
Derrick was great to talk to, and he also gave us space to relax and decompress from traveling. He offered recommendations for nearby food, drinks, and coffee, which was a great help before trying to explore the neighborhood in the rain.
Derrick was a perfect host and his condo was a great place to hang out and enjoy, as well as to recharge for our travel plans around the city.

  • This location was perfect for our stay. The Montlake area is a cute lakefront town with plenty of good food and access to public transport/downtown. Derrick was a great host, very personable, and we would definitely stay with him again. Even though our flight got in around midnight the first evening, Derrick had stayed up waiting to meet us and let us in. He was out of town the rest of the weekend, which meant we had the entire condo to ourselves for such a reasonable price! We spent a bit of time with Derrick Sunday evening before heading out Monday morn and just chatted & chilled...he is very comfortable and easy-going. And his cat is a people lover!

  • It's really a nice place especially the lake and restaurants around. It cost around 15 mins to go to downtown area, UW, public library any place you need to go to. Derrick is nice and his cat is cute haha, it's a quite clean and high quality apartment. However, Seattle is a city worth to go in your life:)
