Location
Wedgeport, Nova Scotia, Canada
Wedgeport is a UNESCO Starlight tourist certified destination with a starlight viewing platform on Wedgeport trail, however, I highly recommend a visit at Deep Sky Eye Observatory, where one can experience a most unforgettable night sky with local astronomer Tim Doucette: http://www.deepskyeye.com (early reservations recommended! – open all year)
Our award winning Tusket Island Tours offer boat tours to the famous Tusket Islands with shanty towns at http://tusketislandtours.com , as well as sports fishing charters. For a unique and luxurious Tuna sports fishing experience for parties of 1 to 8 (catch and release) please contact Jacquardstuna.ca ($ 2000 per day, includes meals) – both operate between May and end of October.
Sports Tuna Fisihing in Wedgeport https://www.facebook.com/WedgeportTunaMuseum/ (currently officially closed, but tourists may stop by in the morning while local fishermen are enjoying their coffee [before 10 or 11 AM] and take a tour of the museum)
Wedgeport has several hiking trails, including 5,4 km Wedgeport Nature Trail along the ocean, with picnic tables, look-out, and a wheelchair accessible starlight viewing platform (accessible all year, depending on weather. No picnic tables and benches from late fall until late spring).
Chebeck Trail: 1 km trail between Chebeck bay on one side, and Tusket River estuary on the other (from Hwy 334 turn unto Chemin de l’Est, then immediately turn left onto Chebeck Road. Parking next to wooded area on the left, where hiking trail starts).
Butte de la Croix: turn left at the end of Chemin de ‘Est
