About This Listing
The comfortable bed is a small double and the view from the window overlooks the garden. We are in a quiet residential area with quick links into Canary Wharf and the City via the DLR, just a few minutes walk a way. Excel and O2 nearby.
Hi, I'm able to offer you a single room in a modern house for 2 nights or longer depending on your plans. There is one shared bathroom with shower and another separate washroom downstairs at the front of the house.
The room is small and simply furnished but it has a TV & WIFI. This isn't a built up area and there is quite a bit of greenery to look at and walk around, locally we have a farm and stables and riverside walks.
The University of East London, Docklands campus is at the top of the road, so there is a thriving student feel to the area.
You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare, cook and eat your meals and you can have some space in the fridge. I live with my grown up son and a cat.
There are 2 DLR stations within a 5 minute walking distance and If you plan on visiting the ExCEL Exhibition Centre or are on holiday and would like to enjoy the hospitality of a friendly Londoner who can tell you where everything is then you are looking in the right place. Since my house was in the main Olympic borough you will find that the public transport has been greatly improved and it is very easy to use. There are plenty of places of interest nearby and National Rail stations are not far away making it simple to go further afield.
There is an ASDA supermarket just 10 minutes walk away and a 24 hour Tesco's which you can walk to during the day but I would recommend the bus if you were to go late evening it is in a shopping complex and there are also High Street fashion stores and a Costa coffee shop there.
The Westfield shopping centre is just a 18 minutes DLR journey, likewise Canary Wharf both places are great for food and entertainment.
We are very relaxed and laid back and will not get in your way as long as you respect our house rules but we will very happy to be able to provide you with information to help you enjoy your stay.
Bathroom & Kitchen 24 hours.
Living room and garden during the day and early evening.
Interaction with Guests
We live here (my son and I) but have busy lives so will be in and out during the day but one or both of us are usually in from the evening onward and are happy to engage with our guests as little or as much as we both would like.
It's interesting to hear a bit about what the guests have been doing but we don't insist on it!
But we do want to know that our guest/s are enjoying their time with us so do ask for feedback from them whilst they here are with us and will do what we can to improve their stay.
This area is family orientated with primary and secondary schools just minutes away and and a small park including.the open spaces and trees. The local council have been improving the landscaping around the area as well.
We are opposite - across the water from the London City Airport and you can see the planes landing and taking off close by.
I love having the DLR network on the doorstep, it makes it so easy to get out and about this great city.
The local buses are pretty good as well and we have a night bus that stops just down the road and comes in from central London
Other Things to Note
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is easily accessed from the DLR train going to Stratford.
No smoking inside my home but you can smoke outside , just remember not to leave cigarette butts lying around or on the ground
Please clear up after you've used the bathroom or kitchen, and do not leave towels lying on the bathroom floor or dirty plates, cups, cutlery etc. around for me to clear up after you.
I provide bed linen and towels but it is up to you to put them in the washer if you stay longer than 1 week.
Here's the kitchen sink and you can watch the world go by through the window. Quite often there are squirrels about to keep us amused
Nice little room in a nice neighbourhood. I was working at ExCel which was a 20 minute walk, or there was an option to get the DLR. Daphne was good in showing me around the house, had some nice chats and also was comfortable chilling in the room after a long day working!
The room was very comfortable, and clean. Daphne provided excellent directions and stayed up late greet me - I couldn't arrive before 11.00. An excellent stay
Great pleace when attending an event in ExCeL. You can walk there and have some fresh air :)
The house itself is one of that typical brick buildings, surroundings has very quite atmosphere.
Daphne is nice host, she helped a lot to understand london's transport system (which I was lazy to study before I came there).
All in all, I was very satisfied and will come back when having a journey to that part of London.
Daphne met me at the nearest train station and was very receptive. He was very supportive and helpful. She advised me on weather, transportation and places to visit.
Her place was quiet and strategically close to my event venue. It was by the road side so I could always catch the bus and a walking distance from the train station. There was internet and TV, and that was really helpful.
I received a couple of phone calls through her and I am very grateful for that.
East London one of the best places to stay in the city and Docklands light railway is the best part of the underground train system. It's my second stay at Daphne rooms and would highly recommend the room and location. The joy of Airbnb is people you meet and Daphne skill is being a top class friendly host.
Daphne is the wonderful hostess and I recommend her to anyone! She is very friendly and was ready to give me any assistance.
I needed to buy an OYSTER card to travel around the aria by public transport, and it was about 6 pm and the post office was closed already. Daphna showed me the place and helped me to buy the card, and showed me a big shop, a nice park and domestic pub as well :) Moreover I needed the taxi to airport early morning and she ordered me the good one. Thank you, dear Daphne!!!
As for the place it is nice and clean. My room is small but very good for the one person. The bed is very comfortable. It was pretty cold outside those days so I slept with the window closed, so any sounds from outside didn’t bother me.
The location of her house is very nice – nearby the park, 3-4 minutes walk from Bacton Park Station (DLR). One late evening I saw 2 foxes on my way from DLR station. It was a big surprise for me but great anyway :) I love to remember this meeting. They was so funny and it’s very sorry that my camera was in my bag.
Daphne is great to chatting with and also very polite and give me the own space. I am very happy to have found her and if I ever go to ExCel Center (or that part of London) alone, be sure to choose this place again!
Daphne is very nice. I enjoyed my stay in her house: the room is very cosy. It's a nice place to stay!
Thanks for everything!

About the Host, Daphne
I am friendly and outgoing and enjoy meeting people, hence I've become a host with airbnb.
I am a qualified librarian and worked in education for 23 years and in Public Libraries before that, a while ago I decided to take time out, to pursue other interests and to travel, (recently travelling to Croatia with a Croatian friend).
My last job was in marketing, working in the Canary Wharf tower - Completely different from anything I've done before.
I have 2 grown-up kids and was widowed 6 years ago. I am a Grandmother now and have a beautiful Grandson, Nathan who is back in the US with his mother after a 6 month stay with us and it was very sad to have them leave but knowing that they will be back this year, makes it a bit easier
I am a vegan, I try to eat organically as much as my budget allows, a non-smoker, I enjoy different genres of music, film, visiting art galleries and markets with friends, reading is probably an obvious choice!, mainly political thrillers. I love gardening and try every year to do something with my little back yard, I enjoy walking and being by the coast, so being close to the docks is second best but it is a joy to be able to get a glimpse the river every day. I am part of a volunteer group run by my local council and I am involved with gardening and conservation projects and a listening to children read project in the borough.
I have adopted an older cat, not too long ago, she is 14 years old and her name is Poppy and she likes to spend most of her time sleeping : )
I love to travel and have been to Australia several times, where I've got good friends that live there and I hope to go back there again. I've been to Canada, Egypt, parts of Europe and Cuba at the beginning of last year which was totally amazing.... I've been to other places as well. I'm happy to backpack or stay in b &b's etc. but even stayed in a 5 star hotel in Perth, WA which was lovely for a change...
I've met many really interesting people, whilst being a host and if you have the space I would recommend giving it a go yourselves. As a host, I play it by ear and will adapt to the needs of my guests in as much as I will chat when you want me too and share cups of tea but I can work out if you just want to go to your room after a busy day or know to leave you in peace when you want to prepare and eat your meal. Some guests like to spend some time in the living room and that's fine with me too.
These are places to get a coffee, food or a drink, you can visit historical sites, beautiful parks and independent art and craft markets and stores .King William Walk London UK SE10 9JH
