We loved Linda and Floyd's cabin. It was cozy, had all the amenities and in a great location. Easy access to the wine country, Sawyer and Lake Michigan. Both Floyd and Linda were great hosts, finding a replacement TV when the picture tube went out on the one there and being extremely responsive to our questions and/or requests.
There were some minor drawbacks:
The hot water is very limited. The bed was really tiny and, finally, it's not as secluded as we thought. Floyd's workshop is adjacent (shares a walkway).
That said - we found the cabin wonderful and would definitely come back.
My family and I stayed at Floyd's cabin over Christmas to get away from the usual holiday madness. The cabin was a perfect winter retreat, we had the fireplace going from the minute we got there up until the time we left. Our two year old was delighted to see deer come really close to the cabin on several occasions. Linda stopped by to check on us and was very kind and accommodating. We will defiantly be back.
Great little cabin. Loved the wood stove and the open living area. Floyd was around for anything we needed. Nice and close to the lake and heat for Michigan winters! Very minor downside (didn't bother us) is that it is not really as private as it appears in the photos.
We look forward to returning! Linda and Floyd are charming, personable and impressive artists who have created a cozy and inviting space. Definitely recommend!
Beautiful property. We loved our stay. There were a few things that were a minor disappointment, like the cabin not having hot showers (there was either scolding hot water or freezing cold water) and Floyd was actual on the premises most of the trip. He has his workshop in between the Cabin and the Cottage. He wasn't in the way at all, just wasn't as secluded-feeling with him right there.
That said, it's a beautiful place.
Linda and Floyd's cabin is the perfect weekend getaway for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat away from the fast paced flow of the city. Nestled in the woods of Three Oaks, we enjoyed exploring the quaint little towns nearby, going for walks, and curling ourselves up by the fireplace with board games and wine at night. Our hosts were fantastic! Linda was quick to answer anybquestions we had about our stay, and Floyd had the wood stove all prepared for us to light upon our arrival. We would definitely Love to come back!
My wife took a little mini-moon at Floyd's Cabin and found it beyond charming and relaxing. The environment is inspiring - gorgeous art everywhere and windows that look out at a sea of beautiful trees. A great indoor and outdoor porch. We can definitely say that we'll be back. Linda was also really accommodating - she brought us bikes to use and responded to all of our requests.
We had a great time at Floyd's Cabin in Lakeside. Linda was super attentive to any questions, the cabin is clean and neatly decorated, and the wood-burning fireplace was stocked and ready to light the night we arrived. I recommend checking out the Journeyman Distillery tour which is only a 10 min drive from the cabin. Beach access is easy via the Pier St. access point; there's a couple parallel parking spots if you'd rather drive. Overall we had a great stay.
When our GPS took us to the end of a gravel road in the middle of the woods we were slightly nervous. Upon driving INTO the woods between the trees, we came upon Floyd's cabin. It was simple, modest and perfect. We had a relaxing time grilling out, playing scrabble and watching our 1 year old son explore all of Floyd's custom made furniture with tiny hidden doors.
Much to explore just minutes away. We picked apples and pumpkins, walked the beach and did some antiquing.
A perfect relaxing weekend getaway. Looking forward to going back for sure!
