"The Cottage" is situated on my farm. It is very quiet and away from the main road. It is south facing with its own garden area. Looking out the living room window is the garden area , green fields, woodland and a unique view of Knocklayde, the large hill overlooking Ballycastle. The building consists of a small kitchen with fridge, washing machine, gas cooker and sink. There is a door off the kitchen to the outside patio. The living room has a woodburning stove and leads on to 2 bedrooms.

The space
The cottage is part stone built and part block built with wooden ceilings throughout. The kitchen is ceramic tiles and the rest of the cottage is laminate flooring. The main entrance is accessed directly from the garden area. Feel free to have a BBQ! Logs etc are provided FOC for the stove and extra logs can be purchased if required. The hot water and heating is provided by an efficient gas water heater situated in the kitchen. This is a very private little cottage and a unique building to stay in. It is accessed by a well maintained lane. The main part of the cottage is over 200 years old and has been extended over the years from both ends. It is simply decorated in keeping with the character of the building yet boasts a lot of modern conveniences. In the kitchen there is a washing machine, gas cooker, microwave and fridge, electric kettle and toaster. An iron and ironing board are available as is a fold out clothes drier.
With full central heating throughout, the living room also has a wood burning stove, Smart Tv, and Wi-Fi .A sofa bed and a dining table which seats 6.
There are 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has 2 single beds which can be pushed together to make another large double.
Outside, there is a garden with patios both front and side so you can chase the sun all day. The front of the cottage overlooks fields and the majestic Knocklayde Mountain and is a fantastic spot just to sit and chill. Outdoor seating is provided as is a BBQ.
Of course if you would like to dine in then you will find pots and pans and basic provisions!

Neighborhood highlights

The cottage is less than 5 mins to the seaside town of Ballycastle.
There are some fantastic restaurants and bars in Ballycastle, my favourite is the Anzac-the food is very tasty. We are very lucky with the vast selection of restaurants and coffee shops that Ballycastle has on offer. For entertainment you can pop into many of the local pubs and bars such as; The Central Wine Bar, O'Connors and for traditional Irish pubs The House Of McDonnell and the Angler's Arms are hard to beat. The cottage is situated in an ideal spot to visit a host of famous attractions. The Giants Causeway(20 mins), Bushmills Distillery, (20 mins) Carrick a rede Rope Bridge (15mins), Ballintoy Harbour(Game of Thrones setting ,15 mins), Dark Hedges (Game of Thrones setting,10 mins) and the stunning scenery up at Fair Head and Murlough Bay. Ballycastle has a beautiful sandy beach, fantastic golf course, tennis courts, bowling green, fishing and great restaurants and bars. You can also take a trip to Rathlin Island!!
