Lake and park close, safely nestled in a great neighborhood above Sunset's thriving cafes and shops, this upgraded architectural garden cottage has been a unique draw for the solo traveler, couples and families alike. Cathedral ceilings, travertine floors, full kitchen, romantic B & B wall fireplace with dim-able lighting, skylights, spacious high-ceilinged bathroom with antiques and New York style black-white tiling, loft queen bed, brass and copper railings with full kitchen and private flagstone patio. Lounge and BBQ on the patio facing terraced gardens and landscaped nooks. Or watch your favorite programming on the widescreen HD TV inside with high speed cable wireless internet. With fortress gate and terra cotta walls, your entry and doings will be private, allowing parties around fire pit, under the grapefruit tree, in earshot of petit pond and fountain.
In hillside neighborhood, we're in walking of Sunset Blvd. and the Silver Lake village haunts of famous eateries and night clubs, as well as in unique proximity to Silver Lake Blvd. itself with LAMILL coffee eatery, SPACELAND, RESERVOIR, and Italian & Thai restaurants. Coffee up or not and jog or watch the wildlife or picnic at the now famed Silver Lake running path around the reservoir, replete with great lounging grass belt. Downtown (Disney Hall, Angel's Flight, Olvera St., Chinatown, MOCA, etc.) and Hollywood-- reachable by car or public transport in under a half hour conservatively. Get to the Getty Museum, beaches or West Side in 30+ minutes too if not bedeviled with traffic.
We're 20 year plus residents and have enjoyed hosting travelers from near, far and wide at our other cottage on the same site for over 7 years.
Regarding Pets: A token fee of 5$ per pet per day added. We love animals and have had many on our property for fifteen years. However, above and beyond special animal wear and tear, many guests are super-sensitive to dander, thus requiring special cleaning We will try and enfold this at the time of reservation via a "special offer", but if this isn't possible, please remit in cash to hosts directly upon departure. Thanks for understanding.
Enjoy yourself! That's the main condition!
Let us know about any extra goodies you may need or of any malfunctions that we can fix. We are truly committed to making your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. Please contact Darrell, Bev or Devan for anything that comes up, night or day.
PET FEE ( 7$ per pet/per day: PAID DIRECTLY TO HOST AS AIRBNB HAS NO CATEGORY THUS FAR)-- we love 'em and have hosted many on our property. We have a beloved shepherd that we can fence in to allow separate free roaming. Since we don't take a damage deposit we do charge 7$ per day per pet for the requisite extra cleaning and wear and tear concerns that we've had to contend with over the years, including intended or unintended yard duty
A NOTE ON TAXES-- 8.75% state and city of up to 12.75% may be required in addition to the nightly. This category, too, isn't assumed via AirBnB and would be remitted directly to the host.
A FEW ECO-REMINDERS:
Please off heaters and all lights-- coffee maker, microwave light, etc. upon leaving.
Be cautious about splattery cooking next to the sofa bed. The cooking shield should help.
Lock both cottage door and back gate when leaving on McCollum Place alley.
Feel free to load and unload at McCollum Place entrance, mindful of neighbors' parking spaces, BUT park on Scott Ave. or Benton Way.
Feel free to sweep and keep tidy and/or ask us for the vacuum or mop if desired. For long term guests, we're happy to come in an do a guerilla cleaning gratis if you'd like!
If the fire pit is used, make sure the fire is out before vacating and avoid putting burned logs on the patio.
When using BBQ, please be aware of any dripping grease onto the patio flagstones that might get stained.
WASHER/DRYER (up garden path to upper concrete patio with curtain enclosure):
When using the washer, please gauge the amount of laundry and set to small, medium or full load (stuff as much in as door will allow for this.)
For DRYING, we use the lowest setting mostly, never past Permanent Press and get good results, even with setting to "delicates". Try and finish any washing/drying before 9 p.m. on the top patio, please, so as not to disturb other guests.
TRASH: can be put into black (garbage), blue (recyclable) containers on McCollum Place alley (out gate to left) or call us and we can disperse. Also, if needed, trash can be brought up yard to side of other cottage or to garden can. Or leave in bag to the side of main door on brick path at Benton Way main entrance.
