Felt very welcome, and description was very accurate. Lovely house near a babbling book near the top of a hill.
This schoolhouse is truly charming and made our friends-giving trip over Thanksgiving weekend magical. Warm and toasty with plenty of entertainment from snow ball fights in the backyard to table tennis in the basement. There's a large kitchen with all the cookware needed, even enough for a Thanksgiving dinner, warm rooms and views of a quiet creek from nearly every window.
Cynthia and Fred made sure we'd find our way in the snow with precise directions and even called ahead of time to recommend a few local spots worth checking out like Trout River Brewery. They're terrific hosts and this schoolhouse retreat is definitely worth a trip to the Northeast Kingdom.
This house is exactly as pictured. It really a lovely experience. I would like to try it in warmer weather when we can enjoy the outside more and leave the windows open to listen to the sounds of the creek. The kitchen has everything you need - all the little condiments, seasoning are there. Plenty of books, magazines, local maps.
Thank you Cynthia for this great getaway! The Schoolhouse is a warm and charming place to relax, far away from the stress and hassle of the city. We love to cook and we were therefore very pleased to see that the kitchen is fully equiped (with large windows overlooking the brook). The house was clean and it seems that everything has been thought in order to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We also enjoyed the firepit at night for a complete stargazing experience. The house is also conveniently close to the breathtaking White Mountains, where we spent most of our days hiking.
Cynthia's place is even better than the already enticing photos would suggest. Large, warm, comfortable, and fun. Two days of good food, my kids playing in the creek out back, bonfires, canoeing, and good movies. Cynthia was quick and charming with her messages. Recommend for anyone looking to get off the path in Vermont!
The schoolhouse was such a perfect joy to stay in for myself, my father and my grandmother. The place is just like it looks in the pictures and the surrounding area is GORGEOUS. Your drive in is through magnificent hills with a horse farm overlooking a valley with a dam and a lake, so picturesque! Plus the schoolhouse has a lovely brook in the backyard and a bird feeder which features all sorts of birds. It was truly great! I spent an afternoon just laying out on the sunbed on the porch and reading and it was perfectly relaxing and wonderful. I would absolutely stay here again, as would my father and grandmother!
This was our first booking through airbnb, and it turned out to be awesome. The Schoolhouse was absolutely charming!
The best part is how secluded it is, yet it's proximity to the most charming towns. Loved the flexible check-in/check-out, and how quickly Cynthia responded to my initial interest in the property (I was doing a late-night search, and Cynthia responded almost immediately). Definitely worth the trip, and we will definitely stay here when we're in the area again!
