  • This is a wonderful cottage! Everything is just as it looks in the pictures and Babette is warm and welcoming. She provided wonderfully detailed instructions ahead of time and once we arrived so all the logistics were not something we had to worry about at all. The cottage is a wonderful getaway and perfect for folks eager to check out the local black sand beaches and enjoy the ocean breeze and sounds of nature. A short walk to magnificent coastline views, we will definitely return next time we're on the big island.

  • If this is your first accommodation in Big Island, make sure to fly directly to HILO, you will have a lot of driving while staying at Babette. However, this place is a hidden beauty. Babette was very nice - the papayas were amazing and she did everything to make our stay comfortable.

Please note, to the volcano it is about 1,5 hours ride. To the next town Pahoa where are restaurants, gas station it is roughly 20 minutes.
But the red road and Kalapana are amazing (especially on Wednesday)

  • Hmmm, how to describe our stay at Babettes.......Perfect! A lovely, bright, clean studio room with everything we needed for our 3 night stay. Babette is a great hostess, shares her knowledge freely, respects her guests privacy. We've never stayed in Puna before. Will be changing that in the future. The Puna area has many great places to discover, away from the hectic Kona crowds. Nothing beats the easy, laid back pace of this region. Happy we were able to base ourselves out of a very peaceful Oliana Cottage. Mahalo Babette! Julie and Peter.

  • Oliana Cottage is a cozy retreat in paradise! Great place to stay and explore the parks and beaches of Puna. The cottage is secluded, quite and just a minute or two walk to Kehena Black Sands Beach.

  • Babette has a lovely little cottage in a beautiful setting in a fantastic part of the Island. It is walking distance to Kehena Beach, which is a gloriously crazy little beach.

The space is small, but it has everything you need: a modest but functional kitchen, indoor and outdoor shower, comfortable bed.

Lie back and let the frogs sing you to sleep!

  • Babette's place was a perfect get away location. Remote enough to feel like you were on a true holiday but close enough by car to any amenities you would need. I definitely recommend a trip to the tidal pools and a walk along the coast.

The cottage was very clean and well kept, it has a small kitchenette enough to make a quick meal and we found the bed really comfortable, just like home.

We would definitely stay again next time we head to the Big Island!

  • Oh, I've been putting off writing a review ... because I want to get it absolutely perfect -- just like Babette's Oliana Guest Cottage. It was so perfect for us. Squeaky clean. Completely comfortable. And situated in just the right place for us to get the groovy Puna experience. We walked to the breathtaking, clothing-optional beach and were greeted by the sight of spinner dolphins jumping for joy! We meditated in the grassy park and opened our eyes to a full moon rising over the ocean. We drove to Pahoa for delightful dinners. I ran through the neighborhood's gentle hills, inspired by ocean views and orchids blooming amongst the lava flows. AND we felt right at home at SPACE -- the farmer's market recommended by Babette -- where beet kvass, silver jewelry, tibetan prayer flags, and raw chocolates co-mingled to make an indelible stamp on our cherished memories of a most amazing honeymoon. Babette and her guest cottage are treasures and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her sweet space to anyone. Perfect for couples!!!
