Babette's Oliana Cottage is lovely. It was peaceful, private, clean and so close to the gorgeous black sands beach. It had everything we needed there to be comfortable. Babette was helpful with her guidelines for food and how to get everywhere, and she provided us a flashlight when we lost something and had to go search with no moon! It was just a great relaxing place to be.
Babette is so fantastic! The space was so peaceful, clean and had everything we needed to make our trip most memorable. She is so thoughtful and puts great attention in to every detail. We had a great time and the location was perfect!
Great place, clean and cozy. Bed was great with amazing water pressure in the indoor shower (there is also a outdoor shower, but we didn't use). This area of the island is not to be missed, we walked to the black sand beach (clothing optional, but you really didn't even notice). There is a steep decline to the beach but wasn't bad at all, in fact you should not be intimidated and give it a try. The path down is located right next to the little pull off parking area about 5 minute walk from Babette's cottage.
Plus drive down to the tide pools about 20 minutes, definitely worth it and you can do some great & safe snorkeling. There are some great look outs along the way.
Definitely recommend the Oliana Cottage and Babette was a great host.
We love Pahoa and so happy to return! Babette's listing is clean, spacious, and the views are wonderful! I enjoyed the outdoor shower (the CUTEST gecko lives on it!), the evening "frog song" and the morning birds. I felt like I was in the BEST part of the Pahoa "jungle." Thank you Babette, for being a wonderful host in an amazing place! When you come, and you SHOULD, bring your own coffee, breakfast foods, snacks, other food and umbrellas as these are NOT provided. Remember good walking shoes... We happily walked (left at the road along the beach) the 3 miles roundtrip to Kalani Retreat Center for meals ($13 breakfast, $25 dinner).
I love it when other AirBnb hosts stay at my cottage, especially when they have a good time exploring this corner of paradise. Thank you, Sarah, for for writing a fun review and being such warm and gracious guests. I think that will add a couple of umbrellas, good idea.
Babette was an amazing host. She was very accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed. She checked in with us throughout our stay. The cottage was stocked with all we needed and & a perfect home-base for exploration of the big island. So many attractions with-in walking and driving distance. Our favorite: the clothing-optional black sand beach 5 minutes walk from the cottage that we swam at every morning. There were always dolphins there to greet us while we swam. All was perfect! Thanks Babette!
A lovely, bright, clean studio room with everything we need for our 2 night stay. The cottage is surrounded by nature. Love it!
