The living area windows and the second bedroom windows overlook the ancient stupa which gives a sense of calm and space in crowded Thamel.

Where you’ll be

The apartment building is within the core Thamel area but just off the main street; thus it is quieter than other streets of Thamel. It is also accessible by taxi, which is how you get here the first time with your luggage. But later we encourage you to get off at the main Thamel entrance and walk two minutes to the apartment and take in the spirit of the lively tourist hub.

Step out of the apartment and you're next door to an ancient stupa. Take a 20 second walk and you're on the main street lined with eclectic shops, multi cuisine restaurants, travel agents, trekking agents, spas and bars.

We are a Nepali couple based in Kathmandu. Subu is a marketing professional since 1998. He runs several businesses while Mala is a tourism entrepreneur. We started Ananya Apartments in 2016 after converting part of our commercial building in Thamel into three apartments. We added an apartment building in early 2020 and created nine new apartments. We have two teenage kids. We own the land and building of all our apartments.
