Casa de Cazadores (Hunter House) is a restored original rock cabin reminiscent of early Terlingua. It's a 400 square feet structure with comfortable furnishings and vintage flair on ten private acres. It has very easy access with a private driveway directly off the main road, and is only 20 minutes from the main entrance to Big Bend National Park.

The space
Relax in a tranquil space that offers room to stretch out, a firepit, outdoor shower, and a place to prepare your own meals after a day of exploring. Fellow adventurers will find a myriad of photo opportunities including many species of birds and other desert wildlife that frequent the area. Night skies here are jaw dropping.
The cabin is wired for all your electrical needs. It has a fantastic air conditioner that will keep you plenty cool during the summer, and propane heat during the winter. Wi-Fi is dedicated to the cabin, so you won't be sharing any of the bandwidth. There are two twin beds with very comfortable coil-spring mattresses. The beds are separated by a partial wall that offers some degree of privacy. There's a comfortable living area with a sectional sofa, and a small dining table with two chairs. A microwave oven, refrigerator, and coffee maker are supplied with cups, coffee, sugar, creamer and drinking water.
Outside there is a sturdy picnic table set up with a propane camp stove. We include basic cookware, utensils, and plenty of propane. There is also a park-style charcoal grill. You supply the charcoal and lighter fluid.
For the sake of local water conservation we've chosen to price our stay a bit lower than comparative properties to avoid doing laundry. Guests will need to bring their own bed linens or sleeping bag, pillow, and shower towels.
We also utilize a simple to use compost toilet rather than a flush toilet. We empty and clean the composting toilet before each new guest arrives and stock it with pine shavings, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer. (The compost is added to our compost piles at home, allowed to "cook" for two years, then used as food for our trees.)
Guests should plan on bringing their own soaps and other toiletries.
The refreshing outdoor shower with hot water is just a few steps from the cabin.

Guest access
Guests will have the entire 10 acres to themselves. The property is located close enough to the parks and Terlingua to be have convenient access, but far enough away to ensure peace and quiet. The Terlingua Ranch Lodge is a very scenic 10 miles away with a sparkling pool, laundry facilities, showers, wi-fi, and a casual restaurant with great menu at decent prices. They serve beer and wine, and have the best burgers in the area. Live music is often available on the weekends.

We're avid hikers, campers, kayakers and compost enthusiasts that have been living in the Terlingua area since 2007. Please, feel free to ask us anything about things to do or places to go while you're here.
During your stay
There is very little, if any, cell-phone signal in the area. Thus, we don't carry one. We do check our landline messages and e-mails several times a day to answer any questions that come up. We live a couple miles away from this property.
