Very nice and quiet stay for people enjoying the beautiful nature of kauai!
We were blown away at our superb luck to have found this place! Such humble, simple surroundings, but after each long sight-seeing day, we couldn't wait to come back to our B&B home. Away from the hustle and bustle of your structured resort hotels, this private, well appointed home is an intimate, secluded retreat that keeps your sense of peaceful relaxation intact in a gorgeously landscaped surrounding with all your modern amenities taken care of. The house has 6 rooms, all of comfortable size. We stayed in Ekolu rm #3 and adored the beautiful forest view from our corner window. We had a very comfy king bed and private hallway bath with shower. Of the modern amenities available we made use of the laundry facilities, the full kitchen and pantry space (spices, butter, syrup, sugar, milk, pastries, cereal, yogurt and fresh fruit every day), beach equipment (fresh beach towels, chairs, coolers, snorkel gear, boogie boards, water shoes) and a 7 person hot tub (color changing lights & great jets)! Even the small things were available, such as bug spray, sunscreen, picnic supplies and ice packs for your food. Every day Hilary and Vetta (assistant) came to clean, do laundry, manicure gardens and address any needs we had. During our stay we mentioned a few fix-its (tiki torches needed more fuel, lighter for BBQ) and they were immediately addressed. Every little text we sent was responded to within 5 minutes-amazing! We did not need for anything. The retreat center is located off a country road and you experience a graceful sweep of gardens as you enter the property. No traffic noise either. You can view the ocean over a neighboring pasture and sip wine in the field overlooking it while the retreat kitty cat (Molly) happily joins you. We would recommend the Kauai retreat center to anyone seeking a true Hawaiian country home experience. We spent 8 nights here (north side of island) and then 4 nights in a resort hotel on south end to complete our trip. We both agreed that if we are lucky enough to return to Kauai, we won't mess around with resorts; we'll just stay at Hilary's place for the whole time. Just incredible.
T & R
Hilary's place was really easy to get to and it's off the 56 right before Kilauea. It is set-up as a guest house and it looks like there were six available rooms. The space itself is as described and when you arrive your name is on a chalkboard with your length of stay and room number. The room key is located in the bedroom. Room #3 has its own bathroom which is adjacent to the bedroom (not inside).
The house itself is near a cattle ranch and has a wide open backyard with chairs and a hot tub (we did not go in, but it looked really nice). Since you're up on a hill, you can watch the sunset over the ocean while while lounging on chairs in the backyard. There is also a communal kitchen. Grab and go breakfast is available in the morning and you can treat yourself to yogurt, banana, honey and muesli as well OJ, coffee and some pastries. It looks like there were some gluten free options as well.
We were only at Hilary's for one night and left early in the morning to hike the Kalalau Trail so we did not get to enjoy the place as much as we would have liked. If we were to do it all over again, we definitely would have stayed another night. This place is great for exploring both the East Shore & the North Shore. Although I did not meet Hillary personally, she was very responsive and easy to work with. I would definitely stay at Hillary's again if I am back on Kauai.
My boyfriend and I stayed in room 3 Ekolu for a brief night. It was clean and comfortable, as was the unattached bathroom. The kitchen/common area were beautiful, and the breakfast options were much appreciated. We unfortunately didn't get to meet Hilary, although she was available by AirBnB chat before our stay.
What a beautiful place to stay! Wonderfully kept and remote enough from town while still close enough to head down for some food. Loved having an accessible kitchen and light breakfast fare provided. Only wish we could have stayed longer
Amazing little slice of heaven! It was the perfect way to return from an 22 mile round trip hike along the Kalalau Trail to camp at Kalalau Beach on the Na Pali coast. Everything was so clean and organized, and laundry services was a total bonus! Thanks Hilary for such a wonderful stay!
Our stay was very delightful. Hilary is a friendly, caring, great host. The place is lovely and peaceful. The cat Molly is a great to have around, very friendly. We will stay their again for sure.
