Other Things to Note

I have helped several foreign visitors with English pronunciation and reading from a book that I wrote over the years of teaching beginning reading. I also have given them drawing and painting lessons, which the children especially enjoy. I have 300 piece large format jigsaw puzzles which many have enjoyed in their spare time. Some families have invited their friends that they know in the area for swimming and eating out in the back yard.
Some visitors have asked me to accompany them to places to help them find things, which I am happy to do.
Guests staying long enough to cook have use of my staples, condiments, and general food on hand.

Check In
  • The house is delightful. Marsha was a gracious hostess, helping with referrals for places to eat, etc. When asked what was his favorite part of the trip our grandson said "Dottie!" Food exceeded expectations. Great location, easy access to the freeway that takes you every where you want to go. The pool was refreshing and lovely. Thank you for everything!

  • We couldn't believe how beautiful the house was as we drove up to her bungalow on a sunny afternoon. We were quickly greeted by Marsha and the sweetest dog dottie. As I walked in the house I instantly felt as if I were walking into a family member's house. She showed us our spacious rooms and the pool and I remembered why I went to college in southern California.
We woke up the next morning to the smell of freshly baked banana bread and a fresh pot of coffee. There was an air of absolute comfort and ease.
We stayed at her house for two days while we were at our 10 year college reunion to avoid the damp over-priced hotels in Claremont. As we left on Sunday we told Marsha we'd be back in 5 years.
We couldn't have asked for a better experience! I would recommend her house to anyone! Thanks Marsha!

  • Marsha's house is absolutely beautiful and she and her lovely Dog Dottie are wonderful hosts.

We were made to feel so at home and relaxed during our stay we didn't want to leave.

The pool in Marsha's private back garden was a real treat and the neighbourhood was so quiet I could have lounged their all day :)

It only took us 40min to drive to LA for the day and see the sights, and a 5min drive took us to the lovely Bonelli regional park.

Thank you so much Marsha for your great hospitality and your kindness towards us, we will definately be back to stay again when we are in the area.

I am a retired teacher of grades Pre-K- 3rd, wrote a textbook for beginning readers, give art and reading lessons as a community service, and the art lessons to guests who are interested and English pronunciation and reading to foreign guests who would like to improve their accent. I live with a well behaved, lovable English Pointer. I like to read and garden, and am interested in history and Bible studies. Since I always worked in a bi-lingual classroom, I speak a little Spanish, enough to make myself understood. I don't watch television, except for a little news, but I do have streaming video and every evening watch a black and white movie from the 1930s-1950s available on Amazon Prime. I can't live without quiet, greenery, books, my family, pets, and a good movie. I treat my guests like I do my family members. I look after them making sure that they have everything they need before starting off for their day, things like: beach blanket, ice chest and packs, picnic basket, umbrella, snacks for the road, art supplies for children, jacket, sun hat, seat cushion, and anything I have that might make their day more comfortable. My life motto is: You can't do what you can't do; but you can do what you can do.
