You walk to the cottage along a short path covered in bamboo leaves, across the stone patio and onto the open deck.
The deck, kitchen and bathroom are all open. The cottage is surrounded by trees and a small garden - A Caribbean country cottage.
The cottage is in the traditional Caribbean style, its walls covered in shingles shuttered windows and a large open deck. It is in the garden of Tranquil Farm, an old farm house, tucked away in a wooded valley.
The kitchen is open sided, birds flying through! A three burner stove and under counter gas fridge. There is everything you would need from espresso coffee maker to knife sharpener! The pots and pans hang on the wall.
The cabin is totally eco and is powered with solar energy, the sockets are 110v USA. The inverter cannot run anything that uses more than 1000 watts ( like a hairdryer !!) There is no mains water, only collected rainwater and the shower is open to the woods. The bedroom is large with windows on 3 sides. The door on the 4th side leads Narnia like through the wardrobe to the kitchen and on to the bathroom.
From the netted four poster bed, you look through balcony and garden to the hills covered in lemon grass. There are comfy chairs and a double hammock on the balcony, perfect for a lounge with a book (there is a selection) and a glass of wine...or two!
The cottage has its own garden on 2 sides and wooden chairs for you to lounge on.
Although we are in this quiet and hidden valley it is only a short and rather lovely drive down Fig Tree Drive ( also known as the Rain Forest Road), to the nearest beach at Carlisle Bay. Beyond Carlisle Bay are some of the best beaches in Antigua laid out before you along the West Coast.
The cottage is your home while you are here, and feel free to roam around the garden. The garden has no gate, and leads naturally into the valley and the surrounding countryside. The road is so quiet there is no problem walking along down through lemon grass and mango trees.
Interaction with guests
If I am at home do feel free to come and ask any questions, I love meeting the people who come and stay, its a treat for me - I will otherwise leave you alone to have your holiday!
Although my house is approx. 100 ft away - my house looks away from the cottage so I cannot see nor do I hear music or indeed anything from the cottage.
Other things to note
The power for the cottage is solar - please ask me to show you how it works so if you don't know these systems.
There are solar lights on the path to the cottage, but depending on the sun they do not always last late into the night - so we have torches for you to use. There is also a local mobile phone for booking restaurants, or if you get lost !
Just be thoughtful - thats the main rule.
Please don't go out leaving candles or oil lamps burning.
We have rainwater in holding tanks and no other water supply, this should be fine but we are a dry island and have been in a severe drought for a while now - so please when its dry dont have showers that are toooo long!
Smoking outside please...
The cottage has wireless internet with a router of its own. Please turn this off when not in use to save power.

I am from England originally, but have been living in the Caribbean for 25 years.
I run my own business, a Production Service Company, which helps people coming into the Caribbean for filming or photography. When not traveling for work I live at home at Tranquil Farm with my daughter,
dogs, ducks, chickens - I love to garden and reading, and the peacefulness of my surroundings.
