LA CASA DI TUFO is a unique medieval palazzo that was built in the 5th century where you can experience the atmosphere of the past yet have all the modern comforts of today. Each room has marvelous views of a private garden and of the medieval part of town. There is a radio in every room as well as private bath with massaging showers and foot massage. There are stone arches, original wooden ceilings and other medieval architectural elements as well as TV and exceptional WIFI access in the living room. The breakfast is a mix of Italian (pastry and cappuccino) and continental (bread, cheese, yogurt, granola, and fruit).
The house is in the center of Orvieto within a few minutes walking distance to all the famous sights, including the grand Duomo (cathedral) with its famous frescoes of Signorelli, multiple museums, the underground caves, monuments, Etruscan ruins, the famous well of St. Patrick (Pozzo di San Patrizio) as well as many others. If you like archeological places we can organize a guided tour to some Etruscan cemeteries or to the caves of the famous “Fanum Voltumnae,” the most important spiritual Etruscan place, which was discovered in Orvieto after excavations of more than 50 years.
If you want to relax after a morning of walking you can go to the hot water springs in the surrounding countryside of Orvieto (35 minutes by car). After that we can recommend to you a typical local restaurant where you can eat pasta like your grandmother used to make. We can also book a guided tour to a local Umbrian vineyard for you to enjoy wine tastings.
Within Orvieto’s historic center there are many charming intimate restaurants where you can experience delicious authentic Umbrian cuisine which often includes truffles, porcini mushrooms, fresh vegetables, new olive oil and a terrific selection of wines from Umbria and Tuscany. The owner of LA CASA DI TUFO has a truffle dog and if you want she can show you the dog finding truffles in the woods.
If you completely fall in love with Italy and want to stay for a longer visit, you can also learn Italian cooking at a nearby cooking school.
Jasmina was a wonderful host who went "above and beyond". She assisted us with transportation; restaurants; cooking school and shopping. And her Villa was beautiful and well appointed. She also provided breakfast for the guests in the morning. A first for us using airbnb. The hilltop town of Orvieto was absolutely stunning. A great stay made better by a wonderful host.
La Casa di Tufo is an excellent bed and breakfast near the Cave museum in Orvieto. The accommodations are excellent, and the breakfast was spectacular. I definitely recommend staying here if you are in Orvieto
Fantastic apartment with everything you need. Centrally located and easy to get to all areas of the city. Street and other guest noise was an issue for us, though everyone was very friendly and helpful!
Orvieto should be called Villa Pleasant - the inhabitants say 'buongiorno' with a smile, are always friendly and assist you where they can. La Casa di Tufo fits this picture just as well. We received a warm welcome here. Their dining hall is well stocked with informtion of everything this hilltop-town has to offer. Everything is just around the corner and the town has beautifully kept cobblestone walkways with breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Jasmin is a very kind and gentle host. She is interested in her guests and our room was spacious with a wonderful shower.
Jasmine is simply wonderful as a host. She genuinely cares about you stay and experience. Take her advice on food and otherwise. The accommodations were clean and inviting. We had a wonderful time here.
We had a really amazing stay at Jasmina's place. I've used airbnb a lot, and am shocked how inexpensive it is to stay in such luxury. The bnb is private, quiet, and filled with light. It is an interior decorator's dream with its fixtures and renovated medieval design. It's roomy, modern, with all the amenities comfort requires! The breakfast is to die for: fresh bread with an array of cheeses and meats, all bought that morning, and Jasmina is an excellent barrista - makes all kinds of coffee you want! The kitchen/lounge area is an incredible space if you want to cook your own meals or enjoy wine with music. One of the highlights is Jasmina herself - she is charming and an excellent conversationalist, and will help you with anything. A real gem. Thanks Jasmina for one of the best stays of our lives! Jasmina's rooms are wonderful. Newly renovated without losing the atmosphere of the original building they were extremely comfortable and relaxing. Jasmina was a lovely hostess, being available when we arrived, providing a great breakfast and always happy to sit and chat with us. You can walk everywhere, even from the funicular if you choose (as we did), or else there are regular buses to get you around.
You should visit Orvieto, and when you do Jasmina's rooms should be on your accomodation list. A great place to stay.
What a fantastic place. Jasmina is a superb host and we loved our 3 days in her apartment. The accommodations are fabulous. Jasmina renovated this building and she did a magnificient job. The room and bath were great and the common area was perfect for our late night games of UNO or dice. We would love to return to Orvieto and we certainly would stay with Jasmina again. Breakfast was great. Loved it all. The conveniece to the center of town was wonderful. Can't say enough good things about our stay in Orvieto.
We loved our stay in the Serancia room. The room was spacious and clean, and the place was a short walk from city attractions. Jasmina was friendly and helpful. The Wi-Fi connection was good, and a delicious breakfast was left out for us since we had to leave early in the morning.
