Messenano is a village resonant of ancient times and is itself a timeless place, steeped in authentic and pristine antiquity with architecture belonging to the 12th Century while inhabited and lovingly restored by 21st Century visionaries. When staying in the village, guests can enjoy a true off-the-beaten-path experience along with famous Umbrian hospitality.
Guests are welcome to fully integrate into the social, cultural and gastronomic way of village life here. The experience in Messenano is a new, old-fashioned way to stay in Italy where the natural beauty of the landscape and medieval architecture provides a lush backdrop to a unique and unforgettable stay which allows each guest to discover their own personal and emotional connection to the area.
The country house offers many of the same services available in a traditional hotel while allowing each guest the chance to feel emersed in the daily rhythms typical of the place. The hiking and touring in the immediate area allows visitors to have a holiday that is both relaxing and invigorating.
Apartments, rooms and the cottages are all located within 100 meters from the reception and are accessible to the amenities of the entire village. The rental houses and accommodations are what you would desire in a typical Umbrian village untouched by time. They are lovely, stone houses connected by a labyrinth of cobblestone footpaths. The town is virtually unchanged for centuries, yet the interiors are thoughtfully updated and comfortable with all modern conveniences, many with small terraces to enjoy views and a glass of wine. The restaurant offers delicious regional dishes in a comfortable, country setting, with both patio and indoor seating. The sparkling pool offers a cool break from touring and offers spectacular views of the surrounding olive groves.
Just as the village has much to offer the traveler, Messenano thrives on the patronage and appreciation of the world travelers who visit and come back time and again. This reciprocity between historic villages like Messenano and discriminating tourists who are searching for a non-traditional and authentic experience proves to be a wonderful model of sustainable traveling. The conversion of small villages that are now sharing their agricultural roots with tourism, is a boon for the environment, the visitors and the people of Messenano who are proud and happy to open their village-home to the world.
Messenano is not simply a place to stay. It is a place where you are home, a friendly place where you can connect with fellow guests, villagers and the environment. Where, no matter the length of your stay, you are forever a part of the village, as surely as it will become a part of you.
the best way is rent a car.
Assolutamente consigliato!
It was an amazing location , an exquisite area, a tiny Medeival hamlet of 40 inhabitants in beautiful hills. It was a very comfortable apartment tucked in the little hamlet. What was unexpected was the vistas, breathtaking views. The hills hold a profound silence, peace and beauty-- the land St. Francis walked
Morena who lives in Messanano ( this medieval hamlet)-- will feed you a great meal in her lovely little restaurant --the only one there, Il Prata. We were well received by Emanuela's daughter and two friends and they helped us with luggage and settling into our apartment. it was comfortable old fashioned, two open -air balconies, one with wisteria hanging down. There is a full working kitchen
