The Space

Comfortable secure flat in interesting converted Historic Brickworks in Brunswick. Close to Sydney Road, lots of pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants, plenty of public transport in every direction and on the correct side of the city for the airport.

Brunswick has more than it's fair share of Melbourne's best eateries and the location is extremely well served by public transport. Buses stop at the front door which you can jump on if you want to get to Sydney Road or connect you to wherever you are headed, St Kilda Beach included. Two train stations are a 10 minute walk with a 15 minute ride to the CBD. It is a 2 minute walk to trams taking you to Melbourne Zoo and Melbourne University and the CBD.

For our guests convenience we have provided MYKI cards for public transport use around Zone 1. If you use them just top them up at any Post Office or Seven 11 so that future guests can also benefit. They are in the information folder.

The complex is large, interesting and still growing. It abuts a terrific park with a walking/jogging track, which is across the road from a large series of sports fields; so plenty of green space for your morning jog or evening stroll.

The apartment is cosy, modern and very comfortable for two. It has great heating for Melbourne winters and portable cooling available for summer. The bedroom has a double bed and we have comfortable bedding for the couch if required. We can also make available a double airbed.

The kitchen is fully appointed for when you want to cook for yourself with pots and pans and roastings trays. There is a coffee machine for an early morning coffee or hot chocolate or if you like your smoothies check the cupboard to the left of the oven for the hand held blender. This cupboard also houses a sandwich maker for easy "late home" snacks.

The apartment is one of four behind a security gate which gives you a great feeling of security. In fine weather you can leave the door open and enjoy the fresh air from the potted garden through the screen door.

Brunswick is very multicultural and generally safe and sits on the northern edge of the city neighbouring Carlton, Parkville, Fitzroy and Coburg. It is an extremely diverse area only 5 kms from the CBD.

We recommend that you check out the Guidebook which has plenty of local information and recommendations for our favourites!

  • Convenient, comfortable and in a pretty bleak Melbourne week, warm. I intend to book it again in the near future. Julie's apartment has everything in it that you need for a comfortable visit.

  • It was an absolute pleasure to stay in Julie's place, not just once but twice. Not only was it a great location (short walk to grocery store and train station), but the apartment was so warm and homely. It is exactly like it is in the pictures and definitely lived up to my expectation. The only two downsides for me was the lack of wifi I could use (which wasn't a huge deal anyway) and the closest place to wash my clothes was about a 15 minute walk away. Other than that it was perfect

Julie was lovely, she does not live in Melbourne but on both occasions had the keys ready to be picked up without hassle even at the last minute. I would recommend this place to anyway who is wanting to explore Melbourne.

  • Julie's place was perfect for our busy stay in melbourne. It was so nice to go back to such a comfortable home at the end of each day. The apartment is beautifully furnished, very clean and safe. It has everything you would possibly need and lovely touches such as a shelf full of books, tourist information and the MYKI cards already topped up. Julie was a great host and I would definitely recommend her fantastic apartment.

  • We were in Melbourne to help our Uni student daughter move house. Julie's flat was perfectly positioned and very comfortable. It was great to be able to come and crash with a cup of coffee or something a little harder and to grab a piece of toast for breakfast before heading off the next day and more heavy lifting. The walk around the park in the late afternoon was great as a wind down too. The flat is very comfortable, beautifully furnished and central to everything Sydney Rd. Thanks Julie and Celia.

  • We had a great 3 days at Julie's city pad last week: lovely space, great feeling and every convenience thought about. Loved the Aesop products in the bathroom Julie and the thoughtfulness around non-perishables in the kitchen. It's a fantastic place to have as a base particularly if you are drawn to Fitzroy, Carlton and surrounds. We had a car which made it easy for us though so close to trams, no problem if not. Super comfortable, quiet and clean. We are heading back soon!

  • Julie and her daughter, Celia, were most welcoming and flexible, and allowed me to stay for four weeks. The apartment was very much a home from home. It was spotlessly clean, and offered many little extras which made the visit special, such as quality soaps, myki cards and a coffee maker!
it's great to have basic stock cupboard essentials left in, and you just ensure you leave the same for the next person.
It's in a great location, close to public transport, lots of great cafes and the Brunswick Baths. You have parks and bike tracks nearby and are close to the city.
I loved it and really enjoyed my time as a temporary Melburnian!
    Thank you Julie!

About
My husband Ian and I are fortunate to live in country Victoria and have an apartment close to our children and grandchildren in inner city Brunswick. We are able to be near the kids and take advantage of all the fantastic cafes restaurants and pubs that surround us and just 5 kms from the CBD. We also love Australian Rules Football and Horse Racing and have the easiest access to public transport or a short drive to get to stadiums and racecourses. Travelling is also a passion and we are close to Tullamarine Freeway for quick access to the airport. We love our country home but regularly make the two-hour trip to enjoy our city pad. When we can't use it we love to think that others can have good use of it.We have just returned from a fantastic overseas trip using Airbnb all through Europe and the UK. We can highly recommend the experience we had wonderful hosts and properties right in the middle of the action that were perfect for our needs. Airbnb really works!! We have now added our spare bedroom in our private home to our listing as we realise there are many visitors to Ky for weddings, parties, work and study etc who need overnight or very short term stay. We would be very happy to host them.
