"The Little Nest," named when the second story was built above the carriage house and completed in 1947 for a WWII veteran son and his bride and named, our Airbnb is a fully equipped studio apartment in The Oakwood Historic district. We're a short walk to all the restaurants, bars, shops, galleries, museums and other fun things in Downtown Raleigh. Y'all come.
Clean, comfortable and fully equipped. Lots of character. Beautiful Historic neighborhood. Very close to downtown Raleigh.
You'll have exclusive access to the entire apartment.
Started in the 1870's, Historic Oakwood is a mix of Victorian, federal, craftsman and Italianate architecture. A lovely place to stroll as you make your way to and from downtown activities.
Easy access to public transportation.
No Smoking Inside the apartment.
No pets (See below)
Only fun people who like cool old buildings in a great Downtown location should send reservations :)
We do have a Golden Retriever named Lady who'll want to play with you but she can remain completely separated from The Little Nest if you're not a dog person. Sorry, but because we have a number of regular guests who have pet allergies, we Do Not Allow Pets in The Little Nest. However because we love dogs and have had a lot of requests to bring small dogs To The Little Nest, we have decide to add another adorable Airbnb a few doors away where small, quiet, well behaved dogs will be welcome. It is in an apartment we own a few doors from our home here in Downtown Raleigh. It will be coming online in June and we're calling it "Sally's Suite," where will allow small, sweet, well behaved dogs.
Our goal is for you to feel cozy like in a Bed and Breakfast, but anonymous like in a hotel. We'll be around to help you and would love to meet you, but we want you to feel like you have you own space so we won't bug you.
Great place, very cozy and warm all through the blizzard this (website hidden) and music system were great and gave me a lovely place to relax during a very busy work trip.
Only downside is the lack of sound insulation between upstairs and downstairs.
I would stay here again.
The Little Nest is a great place to stay. It is comfortable, private, and the location is perfect! You can either walk downtown or take a 5-minute cab ride. The neighborhood is beautiful. We truly enjoyed our stay!
Eddie and Kay's place is very cute and convenient. The neighborhood is beautiful :-) We met Eddie and he was very kind hearted and also a great host. When we arrived we were hungry and being in a new city when you're hungry can be daunting, especially when you have dietary restrictions. Eddie recommended a great place and we filled our bellies with a great wholesome and hot meal.
Eddie and Kay have a sweet little spot in a great neighborhood near downtown Raleigh. It was comfortable, attractive and had a nice kitchen for making coffee and a healthy breakfast. We enjoyed the privacy of being in a neighborhood rather than a sterile hotel room in a commercial area. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, but we were able to come and go without interacting. We were on a business trip so price wasn't the issue, but it was a good value and just what we were looking for.
Staying at the Little Nest was a wonderful experience. We went to Raleigh for a long weekend and the cozy space was perfect. The location is great, and was a 5-10 minute drive at most to all of the attractions and restaurants that we wanted to experience in Raleigh. I would highly recommend the Little Nest. We will definitely be back again.
Also, as a football fan, the cable package in the Little Nest was clutch because I was able to catch the game on Sunday.
Great little place. This is ideal at this price point, small and cosy but with enough space for everything and extremely well located. Eddie and Kay were very responsive. I'd stay here again.
What a treat! I stayed at the Little Nest for 4 nights on a work trip to Raleigh and to see The Black Keys in concert at PNC arena. The check in process was easy, I parked on the street right outside the house with no trouble, and it was walking distance to downtown (15 minutes). The actual neighborhood of Oakwood had a few quaint bars and restaurants (I highly recommend Piebird) and the overall atmosphere was delightful.
I think the mallard canes by the front door were my favorite. Charming, quaint, and absolutely perfect for my first Air B n B experience!

We're very young at heart boomers. We love to laugh. We also love travel, good wine, good music, good conversation, good food and interesting people. We have lived in Raleigh's oldest and coolest Historic District for over 25 years and have watched, enjoyed and participated in the resurgence of Downtown Raleigh. We love sharing Raleigh's treasures with friends and guests. You'll love The Little Nest as your Downtown Raleigh get away.
We've owned The William Gaskins House on the Neuse River in Downtown New Bern for over 14 years. It is right in the middle of the coolest Historic District in NC's colonial capital. It is a fun casual and very enjoyable place for your visit with family, friends or business associates.
We've owned and operated Gray Court apartments with great friends Phil and Pam Neari for over 12 years, as we watched Downtown Winston Salem come back to life. By 2012, Downtown W-S had become very alive with Great Culture, Music, Art, Food, Beverages and Fun. So we decided it was past time to have a get away place there so we could enjoy the fun activities which are going on there constantly. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy all these great activities and more at our Downtown Winston Salem Getaway. You'll love the 5 minute walk to everywhere in Downtown Winston Salem from the Winston-Salem Dash baseball stadium to great restaurants, bars, galleries, shopping and more!
Our philosophy as hosts is to provide "great getaways which are cozy like a bed and breakfast, but anonymous like a hotel". While we respect our guests privacy, we're more than willing to offer suggestions on fun things to enjoy and the "insider scoop" on the best of the best to see and do in our towns. We really love to get to know the real local culture from locals when we travel and enjoy offering the same opportunity to our guests. So by all means call us if you need us or would like to visit. Otherwise we'll give you your space.
