LA CASA DI TUFO is a unique medieval palazzo that was built in the 5th century where you can experience the atmosphere of the past yet have all the modern comforts of today. Each room has marvelous views of a private garden and of the medieval part of town. There is a radio in every room as well as private bath with massaging showers and foot massage. There are stone arches, original wooden ceilings and other medieval architectural elements as well as TV and exceptional WIFI access in the living room. The breakfast is a mix of Italian (pastry and cappuccino) and continental (bread, cheese, yogurt, granola, and fruit).
The house is in the center of Orvieto within a few minutes walking distance to all the famous sights, including the grand Duomo (cathedral) with its famous frescoes of Signorelli, multiple museums, the underground caves, monuments, Etruscan ruins, the famous well of St. Patrick (Pozzo di San Patrizio) as well as many others. If you like archeological places we can organize a guided tour to some Etruscan cemeteries or to the caves of the famous “Fanum Voltumnae,” the most important spiritual Etruscan place, which was discovered in Orvieto after excavations of more than 50 years.
If you want to relax after a morning of walking you can go to the hot water springs in the surrounding countryside of Orvieto (35 minutes by car). After that we can recommend to you a typical local restaurant where you can eat pasta like your grandmother used to make. We can also book a guided tour to a local Umbrian vineyard for you to enjoy wine tastings.
Within Orvieto’s historic center there are many charming intimate restaurants where you can experience delicious authentic Umbrian cuisine which often includes truffles, porcini mushrooms, fresh vegetables, new olive oil and a terrific selection of wines from Umbria and Tuscany. The owner of LA CASA DI TUFO has a truffle dog and if you want she can show you the dog finding truffles in the woods.
If you completely fall in love with Italy and want to stay for a longer visit, you can also learn Italian cooking at a nearby cooking school.
After the second night there's a discount of 10 euros: the room is for 40 euros.
By far the best place we have stayed in our two months of travel. Not only is the B&B so beautiful and clean, but Jasmina is an incredibly lovely host that made us feel so welcomed and at home. The breakfast in the morning was a delicious way to start our days in the centrally located spot of Orvieto. Would highly recommend if you are visiting Orvieto, look no farther then Jasmina's B&B, would go back in a second.
This is perhaps one my best B and B experiences so far! Jasmina's B and B is clean, elegant and beautiful. My boyfriend and I booked at the last minute, showed up at Jasmina's door without her knowing there had been a reservation, but she was still able to accommodate us and even gave us the larger room because of the inconvenience. Absolutely quiet, spotless room with plenty of charm. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was hearty, and Jasmina simply left it for us to eat at our convenience since I woke up late. Very nice, relaxed lady.
I had a great time in Orvieto, one of the most beautiful towns i ever visited.
Jasmina's bnb is wonderful , very cosy and cute. A ideal place to stay, right in the town center. Located in one of the many small streets of Orvieto, it gives it that orvieto feel. Jasmina is a great host and she served us a great breakfast every morning. I say go and visit Orvieto and stay at her bnb. It is definitely wort it.
I can't recommend Jasmine's B&B enough. It felt like we were staying in a family member's home! The location was fantastic in the medieval quarter (the best section), easily walkable to the Duomo and restaurants. The room was so clean, spacious, and overlooked a courtyard with a beautiful persimmon tree. The breakfast was a delicious buffet of all local, fresh products --- charcuterie, pastries, and cheese. Jasmine was patient and accommodating to our schedule and recommended a day trip to the most magical hilltown called Civita. An A+ experience!
Delightful and warm atmosphere, impeccable and spotless room!
Great location. Orvieto is a wonderful town and definitely worth visiting.
- A good location in a pretty part of town
- Big spacious room
Not so positives:
- I couldn’t get to my (website hidden) when we got to Orvieto and there was no information within the airbnb page for directions so we had to walk to the address. Also no one answered the phone when we tried to call and ask. So might be best to print out the directions before you travel.
We absolutely loved this room! Everything was great - the view out the window of the (peach I think) trees, the comfy bed, the best shower we had in Italy, good selection of breakfast items, strong Wi-Fi... Jasmina was helpful with restaurant suggestions and how to figure out the bus schedule. Orvieto was a highlight of our trip!
We were attending a wedding just outside of Orvieto and needed a cheap place to stay the night prior to the wedding. This place is absolutely fantastic as is Jasmina. Jasmina is multilingual and spent much time answering all our questions about the history of the building. The breakfast wasn't your average continental breakfast - it was more like a buffet with plenty of options. We were approximately 2 minutes walking distance to all the major sites in Orvieto. Thank you again Jasmina - we hope to be back again!
We recently spent five enjoyable days with Jasmina at her lovely BandB in Orvieto. Proximity to the Duomo, restaurants, and shopping was only a few minutes walk down cobblestone streets filled with pleasant tourists and friendly locals. Smooth car rental provided 3 days of hilltown adventures exploring Etruscan ruins, grape laden vineyards, memorable cathedrals, wine and cheese tasting, and lovely hand painted ceramics. I highly recommend Casa di Tufo to other travelers, and intend to return for a visit with Jasmina!
