MIN STAY 9 MONTHS / ACADEMIC YEAR
Our lovely studio is located in a turn-of-the-century building in former East Berlin near the Volksparkfriedrichshain. It's a wonderful holiday spot, and place to stay while researching or writing.
Approximately 40 m², it has a fully equipped kitchen, wooden floors, high ceilings, a double bed, and new green sofa.
The bathroom has an upright shower, washbasin, toilet, and washing machine.
Our apartment is on the third floor, there is no elevator.
A small balcony looks out onto the sunny courtyard. You can drink your coffee here in warm weather.
We have wireless internet in the flat.
No smoking please!
The apartment is located in an attractive part of Prenzlauerberg known as the Bötzowviertel. It is a quiet, more residential area with cobbled streets, lovely bakeries, cafes, restaurants, boutiques, and book shops just out the door. The beautiful city park Volksparkfriedrichshain is just two streets away and offers a luxurious space for jogging, picnics, and cultural events (an open air cinema in the summer). (There are also tennis and volley ball courts and a climbing rock.)
200 bus, M4 and M10 trams nearby. From our apartment you are rarely more than 20 minutes from anywhere you might want to go.
Bikes can also be hired nearby.
You are very well connected while in a very calm part of the city!
The 200 bus, which runs along the park, stops 5 minutes from the flat and you can take it direct to Alexanderplatz a major transportation hub. The M4 Tram also goes to Alexanderplatz, and continues on to the Hackescher Markt in Mitte, with lots of restaurants and shops.
The 200 is a major tourism bus. From Alexanderplatz it continues along Unter den Linden, past the state opera to Potsdamer Platz, the Kulturforum, Tiergarten and on to the Zoo and zoological gardens.
We are also only minutes (7 on the M10) from Berlin's famous Mauerpark, where there is a huge flea market on Sunday's in all seasons. The M10 will also take you south-east to Friedrichshain/Kreuzberg (Warschauerstr.) in 10 minutes.
Transportation to the Staatsbibliothek on the 200 Bus only 20 minutes (stop: Potsdamerplatz) and to the new Grimm-Zentrum in only 15 mintutes (stop: Staatsoper).
Other Things to Note
In recent years, for better or worse, airbnb has become increasingly commercialized and as a result professionalized. We rent out our apartment in the original spirit of the website - namely, sharing a characterful place to which we are personally very attached with visitors to the city who seek an experience a little different from a generic tourist one. And doing so at a fair price for all involved. If you expect more hotel-like or professional services - which are increasingly being offered on airbnb - it would be best to look elsewhere.
No loud music/noise after 9pm weekdays and 11 pm weekends. Take care on the stairs late at night as they echo through the court yard.
Please observe the specific *trash/recycling rules* for the building (details with confirmation).
This is a private apartment which we are renting as we are currently living out of the country - we expect that guests will treat our apartment as they would their own.
Things get broken - please let us know asap if something gets damaged/broken.
A great place to escape the city and the cold! Lovely and warm and with a great kitchen to cook in. Ben was extremely helpful and easy to contact so thank you. Also the position was ideal to explore the city then just hop back on a tram to the apartment. A really lovely area of the city, with particularly good bakery's!
I've spent one month in Ben's apartment, everything worked wonderfully. Lovely studio equipped with everything you could possible need, both for short or a bit longer stay. Studio faces inner court so it's beautifully quiet all day long, and that is what you actually need after a day in sometimes hectic Berlin.
10/10 for this studio and only recommendation.
Sehr netter und auskunftsfreudiger Kontakt! Hat alles ohne Probleme funktioniert!
Diese Unterkunft können wir nur empfehlen, wenn man relativ zentral, mit guter Anbindung an die Öffis, wohnen will.
Ben's apartment is very homely and is in a great spot away from the craziness of Berlin. We really enjoyed the privacy of his apartment and felt right at home. The only thing that was confusing was picking the keys up from his cleaners who don't speak English, but overall we did enjoy our stay.
Me and my boyfriend had a lovely holiday at Ben's apartment. The apartment is cosy and very clean. When we booked the apartment Ben was really helpful and gave us a lot of information about restaurants, bars etc. I would definitely recommend this place!
Spent six fabulous days in Berlin at Ben's studio apartment in Prenzlauerberg. This was my first experience with Airbnb and I was very impressed! Ben was easy to communicate with and provided some great suggestions for what to see and where to eat in the neighbourhood. The flat was clean and bright. A great place to relax after going out to explore the city! I would recommend it to anyone planning to visit Berlin!

Caroline and I are a grad-student couple based in the US working towards PhDs in art history and literature respectively.
We have a close relationship to Berlin and have lived, worked, and studied there on and off for the past 8 years. We love the cultural diversity it offers and its non-stop embrace of contemporary (and not-so-contemporary) art. We would be happy to offer you any advice on museums, theatres, or excursions!
