There are not many places left like this on our planet, please enjoy it. Feel the breeze 300 ft. above the pacific ocean.
Please don´t trust the calender, we have three cabins, please ask for availability. Thanks
Location:: Delicias the cliff of Montezuma is a high point on the Southern Peninsula of Nicoya. This is where you could find us awaking by the sunrise 300 feet above. We are located 5 min. drive from the waterfalls. Montezuma can be reach by a fly charter to Tambor (30 min), by car, by Minibus or Local direct bus. Montezuma offers taxi services and Quad rentals.
We are about 15 to 30 min, to reach almost every top tourist destinations in our area such as: Mal pais, Santa Teresa, Cabuya, Cabo Blanco National Park, Tango Mar, Curu and Tambor. Montezuma is well known for its natural treasures, with its bohemian touch and alternative activities: Yoga, Body-mind healers, dance, health food offers, massage, meditation, spiritual retreats, film festival and art gatherings among others.
Mariposa Cabin: *The Mariposa Cabin was our first little house on the property. The details on it, tells about our way of
embracing life, our view of creation. The cabin has a little terrace on the tip of the cliff welcoming the horizon and miles and miles of coastline. The sunrise awakes on the bed. Pelicans, frigate birds, falcons and other bird species indulge the sky day by day. Cheers !
*The materials used on the construction of both cabins are from native antique wood: floors, doors and windows that we have rescued over the years, in order to avoid cutting more trees and for recycling purposes. Some of those pieces are from 1920.
Colibri Cabin: The Colibri cabin was our second project and we thought about a tree-house like. The cabin has a little loft for a double bed and a balcony direct on the cliff surrounded by tree’s, making you feel like an eagle above the ocean.
There is no obstacle in between you and the endless horizon. Further the ocean is only 600 feet (200m)away from you ,so you can sleep being lulled by the waves. Enjoy it !
For the guests without a car we offer to bring them down to Montezuma and the beaches and up when needed they can use a cab.
Every cottage has his own private parking and access. All our guests have access to the pool area.
Interaction with Guests
We are living close to you and are always reachable for any question or help.
It´s quiet, save and nature oriented area. Also called Montezuma hills. We are on the same cliff as villa paraiso, Montezuma hills and others. It has one of the best ocean views in the country and still has not over grown. Each property on this residencial area has at least one and a half acres, what makes it really private.
There is almost no traffic going on, might be there will be twice a day a car passing.
It is the best to have your own vehicle to explore all the highlights in the area. There is also taxi service available. The cabins are in a strategic point from where you can take short cuts to Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, Cabuya (Cabo blanco park) and Cobano.
Other Things to Note
Feel home and make it your own new home.
Dogs are welcomed since we have two sweet ones.
We charge 8 U$ extra per night per dog.
Non Smoking inside the cabins, always feel welcome and happy, do not feed our dogs otherwise the move in with you. Close windows and doors when you are out, otherwise the white face monkeys and skunks see that as an invitation. Always remember you are in a area with tropical forest, enjoy the wildlife it's a lot of fun.
We greatly enjoyed our stay. The secluded, quiet cabin has what I would call a "million dollar" elevated view of the ocean, and lots of wildlife to watch, including birds and iguanas, and a wonderful back deck to view from. The outdoor enclosed shower was fun and we made use of the kitchenette and ate our dinner outside, enjoying the view.
On the first morning, we saw the most beautiful sunrise I had ever seen.
We were out exploring Montezuma most of the time so interacted with Peter primarily, and Rocio and Natalie were very nice also. Peter gave us advice on a free waterfall hike, which we did. (Pls send me a link to that waterfall book when you complete it!)
We spent time at the beach, Cabo wildlife refuge, the town of Montezuma, the Mariposario (butterfly garden) and on hikes each day. Each time, it was a short drive to where we wanted to go. We had a rental car so although the cabin was a little "off the beaten path", it was a short drive for us. It's certainly recommended to have 4wd to get around.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Peter and Rocio's for over a week and we both had an amazing time. They are both great hosts, very warm and friendly people. Peter always had great suggestions as far as where to go for more private beaches and great spots to eat in the town of Montezuma. The place itself is a cute cozy cabin feel and the view from Mariposa cabin is absolutely breathtaking. A great find for sure! I feel I couldn't have found a better place to stay and call home for my stay in Montezuma. Would absolutely stay here again :)
We spent 3 wonderful days in the Mariposa cabin and we were delighted! Peter provided us additional directions before we arrived and it was very helpful. He gave us tips about things to do in the area. The cabin itself is very cute in every details. We could see the Sunrise from the bed, we could hear the sea and take outdoor showers and baths : it's a romantic nest that we didn't want to leave. Thanks this inspiring family for being such nice hosts!
Our stay at the Colibri Cabin was even better than expected. Sure, the photos looked great, but do not do the incredible views justice. The cabin made our stay in Montezuma feel so real and authentic, which is just what we were looking for. From the outdoor shower to the lofted bed with a stunning open view to the water to watch the birds and sunrise, Colibri will give you exactly what you need to rest, recharge and connect with yourself and the environment around you. I cannot say enough great things about our hosts either! There were so helpful and responsive in our questions about getting there and activities, even taking care of some reservations for us. The family is so kind and welcoming, we could not have asked for better. Natalie, the darling daughter even decorated the cabins for Christmas. As someone mentioned, the only thing worth noting is the cabins are located up the hill, which could make for an aggressive walk on steep hills in the heat. My husband and I did not ever walk all the way but the gentleman at the other cabin ran into town every morning. Cabs were super easy to take home or even schedule for pick up (I was shocked at the sharp punctuality of Costa Ricans! They were 2 minutes early for every pick up, it was great!) Peter was able to take us into town several times, which was very helpful. But being on top of the hills afforded us the absolute best views and it was cooler at night, with a stronger breeze, than when we were in town. Everything about this vacation was simply perfect. The cabin had a small table for dining, the wifi worked great, and the kitchen was perfect. We sat out every night on the terrace watching the stars and listening to the waves. We cannot wait to return! :)
You know you made a friend in us, we have been so happy to have you guys with us. There are so many things more to discover here that you have to be back. Right now I am collecting pictures of all the waterfalls in our area to publish them in a book. The only thing is that there are so many. Later on we will sent you a link.
Peter, Rocio and Natalie
We loved the location and Peter and his family were very welcoming. The view from the bedroom loft was amazing and the sound of the howling monkeys and the rolling waves, it was heaven on earth. We spent our honeymoon here and loved every moment. The outdoor shower was an excellent experience. We would have loved to stay longer and plan on going back!
Peter was great host. He met us as we arrived and showed us around the property. The cabin is well supplied with stunning views. There's plenty of wildlife to sea while having coffee on the patio in the morning. We would love to stay again!
We had an incredible time staying at Peter and Rocio's cabinas! We stayed in both Colibri (2 nights) and Geco (1 night), which were both uniquely wonderful. Colibri is wide open and airy with a rustic treehouse feel, and Geco offered a cozy and shady oasis surrounded by tall native trees and monkey visitors. In both cabinas we felt like we had the whole cliffside to ourselves.
The neighborhood is quiet and a very short and exciting drive to Montezuma. There is also a short cut to Mal Pais that you can follow as well.
We didn't take advantage of the pool, but we really should have. It's really cool and a perfect place to watch the sunrise.
Both Peter and Rocio gave us some great advice on where to explore and offered a wealth of knowledge about the history of the community.
In the end, it was exactly what we were looking for, and we'll certainly be back -- next time with some friends and family in tow!
