there is some history behind the cottages -
they were built in the 1890's and used to belong to a horse and carriage business which shuttled workers down to Union Station. our neighborhood has always been a working class neighborhood starting with the Italians and then has welcomed many other waves of immigrants.
The Lower Highlands district is a thriving area due to the of proximity and the number of attractions that you can walk or bike to.
Bike paths are plentiful and you could tour the whole city on them.
you can rent a bike with a swipe of your credit card- Denver has a bike rental program named "B cycle".
At the B cycle station you can rent a bike for an hour or several days, there are many drop off stations where you can leave the bike and pick another one up to use again. I have information in the cottage on these rentals.
also, the RTD's lightrail & Amtra train station is cross the river at Union Station (16th street) which will take you across the Denver Metro area.
coming in the future is the northwest light rail line that will be several block from the cottages!

When I got off the highway I was a little nervous because the neighborhood looked pretty industrial. Boy was I wrong! This is an up and coming neighborhood with a mix of new and old housing as well as restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. There are 3 breweries/brew pubs within easy walking distance and you have easy access to downtown Denver.
The Mulberry cottage is exactly as advertised, actually, I think it's better. You can't understand how peaceful and comfortable the cottage and surrounding grounds are without visiting. I had some work to do so I sat out in the courtyard while my wife enjoyed the hammock next to the water feature.
The hosts Jeny and Gio were very friendly and helpful. Check in and check out were very quick and easy. I would definitely stay here next time.
This (email hidden) and we really wish that we had more than a few days in Denver to enjoy it. Jenny and Gio were super friendly and helpful and patient with us. They were busy people but took out plenty of time to help us out and gab as if they had all the time in the world. Very relaxed atmosphere. We were enchanted by the gardens and spent as much time at the start and end of our days as we possibly could among the flower beds before heading out to tour.
The Highlands is a residential area and Mulberry cottage is in a diverse neighborhood where there are homes being built in a new style or old ones being re-done, as well as some older homes as they are. We saw several places starting gardens on the street and in their front yards. There are neighborhood restaurants within walking distance and we enjoyed being able to walk around on our first night after hours in the car. We had no trouble finding a free parking space right in front of their gate every day, which was great!
The walled garden that Gio and Jenny have created is like a magical escape and feels so quiet and private even in the middle of a neighborhood.
We found the cottage just perfect for the two of us and we spent most of our time out in the garden anyway. The cottage is equipped with almost everything you could want for. The bed is very comfortable and has shelf and light right at the head of it for reading or putting your watch or earrings before you go to sleep. They supply a tiny iron and ironing board, a little coffee pot and an electric kettle, as well as all of the amenities described in the listing. They even leave you bath-robes, which I loved! They think of a lot of little extras like listing the area eateries with addresses and the distance from the house in blocks. They leave lots of info on Denver and the area. The leave a little dish of chocolates to welcome you. This was such a warm and happy place that we would love to go back someday.
Danny and I and our miniature poodle Gracie had a FANTASTIC time at Mulberry Cottage !! The whole community of cottages together is like its own "town" within a city ! The grounds are LUSH and inspiring as well as a relaxing oasis. The artist vibe that lives there got my "inner artist" revved up. I will take home some of the cool little veniettes that Jennifer and Gio had adorned there garden spaces with. Both Gio and Jennifer are terrific people and hosts. We felt VERY WELCOME and as if it was our HOME for a brief time. The accommodations are cozy and have everything needed for a sweet retreat !!
My husband and I were so looking forward to just taking it easy on our vacation and this place was perfect. The space is just our style and the garden was serene. The location worked out great too, close to downtown we were able to get by between walking and Car2go. Jennifer and Gio were so nice and helpful, they made sure we were set – Thank You! This was our first time using bnb and the experience was so great that we will for sure do it again.
We had a great time! The place is a green paradise in the middle of the city :)
This place was adorable. When I posted pictures to instagram, all my friends wanted to beat me up from envy. Cozy, charming, and perfect. A very safe and convenient neighborhood. Lots of nice breweries, coffee shops, and other amenities within easy walking distance, downtown not far off either. The hosts (Jeny and Gio) are absolutely amazing, creative, welcoming, and hilarious. The cottage itself is perfect for two people who like each other A LOT. And very comfortable if it's just you.
This was my husband and my's second time staying at Jennifer and Gio's place. Cutest cottage, loveliest grounds and the most fantastic hosts, as was our prior experience. Highly recommended on all fronts. We'll definitely stay again the next time we're passing through Denver! Bonus: Don't miss out on saying "hi" to Seven, Jenn and Gio's charming 7-toed cat.
Jenny & Gio are welcoming, interesting, hilarious and respectful hosts. In fact, the vibe echoed more like we were staying with long-time friends and not using airbnb. The location, accommodations and conversations were one-of-a-kind. Every recommendation they extended was pure gold -- especially Black Eye Coffee Shop (walking distance). Oh, and the tots at Highland Tavern are life altering and worth every fried pillowy bite. I hope to return soon and can't recommend Mulberry Cottage and Jenny & Gio enough.
Lovely cottage, walking distance to several restaurants and bars. Great place to relax and write. Hosts were extremely accommodating.
The Mulberry Cottage was an idyllic retreat from the noise and pace of downtown Denver. From the moment we stepped into the garden we felt incredibly welcomed and cared for. Jen and Gio were great hosts, very accommodating, and extremely kind people. The cottage itself was absolutely adorable and cozy, the perfect space for two people (and definitely the most comfortable bed we'd slept in our whole stay in Colorado)! We wish we could have stayed longer, but it was a great to have stayed in this hidden gem when we did!
