Our spacious Foxhollow cabin is a perfect oasis for a quiet retreat (NO KIDS UNDER 12) —set under Texas Oaks on a 5-acre estate, Deerhaven Retreat. Features a king bed and includes WiFi, RokuTV, AC/heat, Keurig, coffee/tea, toaster, microwave, mini-fridge. A short path leads to your private, full bathroom—reserved just for you in the separate clean, modern bathhouse. Private deck, views, BBQ and firepit as well as plenty of wildlife for a Hill Country vibe that's only 8 min. to shops & dining!

The space
Located at our private residence we call Deerhaven Retreat, we are happy to offer this quiet, peaceful five-acre nature refuge on San Antonio's north side.

We have created a welcoming glamping mini-resort with a very serene feeling, quiet atmosphere, and lots of wildlife and space for meditation time.

With plenty of fresh air and open space, our Deerhaven glamping cabins, tent, and tipi are the perfect place to keep "social distancing" and to virtually eliminate contact with another person's germs. At least while you are here on site!

Every day guest bathrooms are treated with ozone* between 11 am and 3 pm. You may notice a strong fresh scent during this timeframe. Additionally your private restroom is disinfected with bleach and ozone before your check-in, after a previous stay. This includes toilets, sinks, showers and floors.

Your cabin and/or tent accommodation has had an ozone treatment just before you check in. Between guest stays, we also clean surfaces with a peroxide-oxy cleaning solution and are now laundering all blankets and bedspreads between guests.

*Ozone is a naturally occurring gas created from oxygen atoms. The anti-pathogenic effects of ozone have been substantiated for decades. It acts upon viruses, bacteria, fungi, and more. We time these treatments so that guests do not have to breathe strong ozone gas.

You'll be staying in our all-wood 17x12 cabin crafted from Norwegian Spruce set on the edge of the Hill Country. Yet...amazingly, we are only major shopping and dining is just 8 minutes away. Other destinations:
• Downtown - 30 minutes
• Airport - 20 minutes
• Fiesta Texas - 30 minutes
• Lackland - 35 minutes

Where you’ll be

San Antonio, Texas, United States

Set on a 5-acre estate in North-Central San Antonio, this cabin is for nature lovers who enjoy the outdoors and wildlife including: deer, armadillo, fox, insects, raccoon, possum and an occasional skunk. This 12 x 17 all-wood cabin is crafted from Norwegian Spruce and is a spacious, well-equipped room with its own deck. Everything you need is included: wi-fi, RokuTV, mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, and teapot. (Leaving open food is discouraged due to raccoons and other wildlife).

Guests walk 75 feet to their private bathroom in our new, deluxe bath house which is kept very clean, and has plenty of fresh towels and supplies for guests. One full restroom with shower is reserved just for you, our cabin guest! Sheets and towels are included, plus guests can do extra laundry on site.

The super clean cabin is part of a natural setting that also hosts Buddhist meditation and yoga classes in a giant 26 ft Tipi. Airbnb guests are welcome to attend at no extra charge! Cabin rental includes access to the entire grounds which includes a large main deck for parties, the tea garden with tables and BBQs, giant fire pit, stargazing field, and the organic garden.

Recreation activities include bocce, horseshoes, darts, beanbag toss (corn hole) bonfires and stargazing! Weather permitting outdoor movie nights take place on Saturdays, weather permitting. Guests are welcome to participate in the Saturday morning meditation or yoga in the tipi as well as outdoor movie nigh most Saturday nights through the summer. Drop in meditation and yoga is permitted anytime.

This cabin is ideal for guests who enjoy nature and are comfortable around wild animals such as deer, armadillos, raccoons, bugs, possum, fox and the occasional skunk. It is a natural, restful atmosphere with plenty of trees and starlight. A small pond in front of the cabin deck is under development, and will be completed in the summer of 2018.

The US Army Camp Bullis, is 5 miles away. On training days (there's no set schedule but it's about 2x per week) the sound of distant rifle and machine-gun training can sometimes be heard. So can the trumpet blowing taps and reverie!

Christopher and I married in 1977, and move to San Antonio in 1980. As artists and musicians, we headed West from Boston in search of opportunity "Out West". Christopher is a professional designer, illustrator and musician. I am a nonprofit management consultant. In addition to family, our cats, and travel our three big areas of interest are: 1. Music — we founded the San Antonio Vocal Arts Ensemble (SAVAE) in 1989 and have six commercial recordings. We've done 80+ concert tours across the country and have been featured in national newspapers and on NPR. 2. Art — Christopher is a highly-regarded designer and illustrator. You will see his work all over the house. There are 50+ children's books he's illustrated on the shelves in addition to the framed art. 3. Tibetan Buddhism — We have a close relationship with two Tibetan monks, who are our teachers and Dharma friends. Over the past 12 years these great Lamas have stayed with us at the house for months at a time, teaching Buddhism right in the living room! We do love to travel, and are DYI travelers, having avoided organized tours. We've been to India (to visit the monks mentioned above). We've also travelled to Israel, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, Canada, and Spain. We're lucky to have family in Massachusetts (where Christopher was born) and on Cape Cod — where we played music after Berklee College of Music. We have siblings and many relatives in Hawaii who've been there for 35+ years—so we know the Islands pretty well. Last, but not least, we have lots of family in California (North and South) where Covita was born. You are very welcome to enjoy the home we cherished for 35 years. In 2017 we relocated to a different part of town in order to care for Christopher's 88-year old Mother. As for the rental house, we are very hand-on, doing the yard work and laundry, cleaning (etc.) ourselves because we have loved this house for many years and want to remain connected.
