The space

The house is nostalgic and romantic, yet surprisingly modern, spacious and comfortable. The house consists of three floors. The middle floor (with entrance) is one big livingroom (annex well equipped kitchen) with comfortable sofa's (and big HD-TV). Going down you'll find the bedroom, bathroom (with bath) and my longdesired shala, an empty space with mirrors all along one side where I practise and teach my yoga. On the top floor is another bedroom and bathroom and a study, with access to both terraces with wonderful views on the whole of Amsterdam. One thing! Staircases in Amsterdam are not what you might be used to in your home country; guests usually consider them as rather steep, even though compared to other typical Dutch canal houses they are rather large!

The neighbourhood, the Jordaan, is a highly desirable, residential area in Amsterdam and popular with locals as well as tourists. The area is known for its art galleries and variety of small shops as well as its many cafés, bars, and restaurants and terrace's directly situated at the canals. You can always find something to do just outside my doorstep (Anne Frank house!). On Saturdays and Mondays you can shop at the weekly market with the locals and have a coffee and apple-pie ( the best in the world) at one of the many café's facing the Noorderkerk. Afterwards you can take a walk down one of the beautiful canals for which Amsterdam is so justifiably famous. The Jordaan is a lively area, friendly and also quiet, less than 10 minutes walk from Central Station, 5 min. walk from the Royal Palace at Damsquare and only 10 minutes biking to the Museum quarter with the main musea and the Royal Concert Hall.

I came to live in this house on 18 may 2007. I engraved this date in a neckless!! And still, after nearly 6 years, I am so extremely happy with this place. As you can see the place is very spacious and light and comfortable. And i finally realized my dream... my own yoga space...Where i teach and practice my yoga, a wonderful break from my work as a public prosecutor.
Also i love the neighborhood; from the peace of my house you step into one of the best parts of Amsterdam, if not THE best part of Amsterdam; with all its facilities, nice places, beautiful people.
I am very happy to tell you where to go, but it will be difficult to choose!!!
