Minutes from Unesco classed village St. Emilion, plus 40 minutes from the beautiful city of Bordeaux. Completely surrounded by the Entre-Deux-Mer vineyards, red and white, and a multitute of vineyards to visit, or go winetasting. All modern comforts, plus bicycle path at 500 metres leading to you 100 kms of paths admist the villages and countryside of the Gironde. There is even a vineyard that you can access easily via the bicycle path at Espiet, just don't drink too much for the bike ride back! *** FEBRUARY/MARCH 2014 SPECIAL ****
For all booking of 2 nights, the jacuzzi (spa bath) is at your disposition at no extra charge, located at the top of a magnificent 16th century pigeon house. Note that the access is restricted for the adventurous and lithe adults only, as the staircase to access this area is very narrow and steep, but once you get there you won't be disappointed! The jacuzzi is a 3 person model, so plenty of space for 2, with massage jets, water fountains and LED lights and heated at 38°C. There are 3 windows with lovely views, (see the main photo with the swimming pool and the house in the background, and this area is in the top of the building with the pointed roof and 2 rounded windows at the top).
On your arrival you will also find a bottle of chilled champagne for your first usage of the jacuzzi. All other offers still apply, such as the morning breakfast delivery and all charges including heating.

In the appartment I leave you fresh milk, tea and coffee for your arrival. There are 3 coffee machines, (see above). In this way you can prepare your coffee and tea yourselves when you're ready, and I bring you each morning a croissant and a chocolatine freshly cooked (yumm) plus bread for each person, the standard french breakfast, plus orange juice, butter and jams. If you would prefer 2 croissants, or 2 chocolatines, or pain au raisin, instead of one of each for example please let me know in advance. I usually bring the tray and leave it outside your front door around 8h00 or 8h30, let me know if you need it earlier than that.

** I can come and pick you up from the airport or train station for a small fee, only half of that of a taxi, and even less if I'm already in the area for any reason, you can just contribute to petrol.

** Likewise, if you are coming without a car (possible as there is a small shop walking distance away and we have bikes for outings) I am happy to drive you to the local supermarket when I'm going for no charge.

** For larger groups I have a 7 seater car that you can hire on a daily or half daily basis.

** Ask me about the caves, underneath our village, I can take you on a tour if you like....

** Meal of the Day can be arranged, either served in your appartment or at the family table, roast 2kg grain fed chicken with fresh vegetables and the best home made french fries in the area, cheese platter, coffee and freshly baked biscuits, plus all the wine you can drink... - all produce from within a 5 km radius and fresh on the day. Just one example daily meal. We need to know 24 hours in advance. Price from 15 to 20 euros per person, including all the wine you can drink!

** For the history and archeaology lovers, a very old region, the local church is 10th century but much older than that, roman gold coins have been found on our grounds, and just metres away in Romagne, a farmer ploughing his land for planting vineyards came across the roof of an old building, when the archeological society came to investigate (a legal obligatgion) they excavated a roman ruin. When they were finished the farmer filled it back up again to plant his vines - wine is sacred....! Our neiqhbour has a well that half way down has a tunnel that leads somewhere - yet to be investigated... Previous guests are certain of having found markings of the cathar knights on a rocky road up to the main village from us.

PETS!!! Note that we have a dog and 2 cats. The dog, Doggy is in our part of the garden and can't leave, very strict regulations about dogs being enclosed here, so for those of you scared of dogs he can't get out (but actually loves being with people unfortunately for him!) We have 2 cats, one that lives with Doggy and is very old, and another one that is our cat called Katleen and is very sweet. If you read in some of the comments, we have some negative feedback - this spring (2012) 2 wild mother cats had their babies here and due to the large number of families visiting with children, the children adopted the kittens for the length of their stay resulting in the most friendly and human loving kittens you had ever seen! We had so many crying children at the end of their trips when they couldn't take the kittens home I can't even tell you! Unfortunately (or fortunately for those of you that don't like cats) there are no kittens left, placed or killed on the road due to the fact that they were so so tame they would sleep on the road :-( and the mother cat has since been caught and desexed.... So the comments about unruly kittens invading your appartment no longer applies!

Guest Access

Guests have access to the 1.5 hectares of our property, with the exception of an area that Doggy, our dog lives in. (He can't get out by the way, only when I take him on walks). Afterwards, there's also the pool, available to all guests, wading and swimming pool, hammocks in the garden, bicycles in the bicycle shed (please check with me first as sometimes people book them), the sauna (again on demand, and I need to show you how to light the fire), the jacuzzi, (on demand as well). There is WIFI access in the appartments, I will give you the code when you arrive.

Interaction with Guests

I am present on the property, available when you need me, but as discreet as possible! I love to interact with my guests when that is what they are looking for, but if they prefer more privacy that is fine for me, I would never intrude.

  • Our family had an amazing time at Simone's place. She is the kindest host we have had to date. She made sure our trip was perfect including booking many wine tours for us and cooked the most delicious (email hidden)e hospitality was second to none. We rented two of the bites and it was perfect for our extended family. Thank you!

  • Wonderful accommodation in a stunning location that will not disappoint. My husband and I enjoyed the perfect relaxing break among the pretty countryside in a unique and well equipped property. The loft apartment is very cute and comfortable.

We enjoyed a lovely home cooked meal with wine the night we arrived with a delicious breakfast of croissants, freshly squeezed orange delivered each morning in a little basket.

Simone and her assistant Jackson could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. Even taking us to Créon on market day with her family and collecting us from the airport which we very much appreciated as we hadn't hired a car. We used bicycles that are available for guests to spend our days on the cycle path visiting villages and vineyards which suited us fine. If you are a keen cyclist you may consider hiring a bicycles from a hire company which Simone can help you with.

Altogether wonderful! Thank-you for everything Simone!

  • In short, my husband and my experience at Simone's BnB is a lifelong memory we will never forget. If you want to relax, meet truly incredible people, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, culture, and wine you will absolutely regret it if you don't stay here. Simone and her assistant Jackson provide world class hospitality that any 5 star hotel should be jealous of. The loft is gorgeous and clean, the surroundings are truly peaceful and idyllic, the meals were incredible, and the recommendations were top notch. This is the gold standard for BnBs. AirBnB is remiss to not create a new higher class of experience with regards to Simone. She even invited us to meet her family and share a meal- what an honor. Note there are multiple cats on the premises which we adored but if you are allergic you should discuss with Simone beforehand.

  • Cute little loft apartment set amongst the vineyards outside St Emilion. Finding the place was very easy and Simone was helpful with lots of clear directions.

The bed was comfortable. We used the downstairs shower as we prefer a fixed shower head, rather than the European style shower.

Breakfast was lovely and appreciated so we didn't have to rush out on our last day in the apartment.

It took us about 20-25 mins to drive to St Emilion from the apartment and about 30-35 mins to Bordeaux. It was lovely driving through all the small village and towns in a very picturesque area.

  • (email hidden) to stay, very peaceful and Simone has some great advice on where to go!

The apartment was comfortable for two people and a great conversion into something modern while staying true to the south of France.

  • We had a great stay in Simone's unique loft near St-Emilion. The grounds are lovely and it is a relaxing location. Simone was great - she kindly arranged winery visits for us on one day of our stay, which was much appreciated as we didn't have a phone. Thanks!!

  • Simone's lovely chateau was quite gorgeous. Kittens running around, lots of bright sun in the morning serving for the perfect country escape. She even does breakfast of great French milks and croissants. Hot tub right outside the door. Great design. Outside seating over looking the country. Simone's great btw.

  • Simone (email hidden)! We arrived in the evening, she welcomed us with a great home prepared meal, wine and even a fresh made dessert! The place is cosy, it has a nice little loft to hang out in, she has a few cats and they wondered in and we became fast friends. The kitchen is equipped very well, wifi works good, nice windows that look out onto to the country side. Each morning we would find, outside our door, breakfast complete with homemade jams too! Her location was a great base for us in visiting St. Emilion and within driving distance to the winery's you would want to visit. She informed us of the area and the sites to see nearby. Tell only your best friends about this place, as it is a little gem!
Merci Beaucoup Simone! We miss the kitties!
