--------- Nearest Aeroport-------------------------------------------------------The closest aeroport is BOREAUX MERIGNAC. 45 kms Pick up from aeroport is half the price of a taxi, so usually around 20/25 euros depending on time of day and if I am available. Note too that BERGERAC aeroport, serviced by RYANAIR, JETCOST, TRANSAVIA and others can get you a cheap flight from many places around europe. 64kms. I can come and pick you up for half the price of a taxi, around 30 euros, again depending on the time and if I am available and either drop you at Libourne to rent a car or home to the appartment
----------Nearest TRAIN STATION -------------------------------------------
SAINT EMILION - 13 kms. Very small station with not much availability, but the advantage once you are there is that you can visit St Emilion, a must, very beautiful village, lots to see and do, lots of cafés and restaurants open at all hours. For a taxi service to this location, again, half the price of a taxi, 10 euros. LIBOURNE. 22 kms. Moderate availability, a big station. Again, taxi service available for 15 euros. BORDEAUX. 40 kms. Very large station. Taxi service available for 20 euros. *** Always check with me beforehand if you're interested in my taxi service, if I'm ever in the area anyway,
I just ask you to pay a petrol charge.
There are two lines that leave from Bordeaux, one that arrives in TARGON and one that arrives in BRANNE. About a 45 minute trip, and I can come and pick you up from the village, both around 7 kms away. If you are coming without a car (possible as there is a small shop walking distance away and we have bikes for outings) I am happy to drive you to the local supermarket when I'm going for no charge. ** For larger groups I have a 7 seater car that you can hire on a daily or half daily basis. ** Ask me about the caves, underneath our village, I can take you on a tour if you like.... ** Meal of the Day can be arranged, either served in your appartment or at the family table, roast 2kg grain fed chicken with fresh vegetables and the best home made french fries in the area, cheese platter, coffee and freshly baked biscuits, plus all the wine you can drink... - all produce from within a 5 km radius and fresh on the day. Just one example daily meal. We need to know 24 hours in advance. From 15 to 20 euros all inclusive per person including wine, depending on the meal provided. ** For the history and archeaology lovers, a very old region, the local church is 10th century but much older than that, roman gold coins have been found on our grounds, and just metres away in Romagne, a farmer ploughing his land for planting vineyards came across the roof of an old building, when the archeological society came to investigate (a legal obligatgion) they excavated a roman ruin. When they were finished the farmer filled it back up again to plant his vines - wine is sacred....! Our neiqhbour has a well that half way down has a tunnel that leads somewhere - yet to be investigated... Previous guests are certain of having found markings of the cathar knights on a rocky road up to the main village from us. To be investigated....... Late Check in Reduction!! For stays of 3 nights or more, think about our late check in fee, when available. In this way if you arrive late, from 9pm onwards I only charge 2/3 of the regular rate so you are aren't penalised for missing out on half of the stay - I always thought hotels should do this when you arrive late only use the services for half of the time!!
PETS!!! Note that we have a dog and 2 cats. The dog, Doggy is in our part of the garden and can't leave, very strict regulations about dogs being enclosed here, so for those of you scared of dogs he can't get out (but actually loves being with people unfortunately for him!) We have 2 cats, one that lives with Doggy and is very old, and another one that is our cat called Katleen and is very sweet. If you read in some of the comments, we have had some negative feedback about the kittens- this spring (2012) 2 wild mother cats had their babies here and due to the large number of families visiting with children, the children found and adopted the kittens for the length of their stay, feeding them and carrying them around them etc, resulting in the most friendly and human loving kittens you had ever seen! We had so many crying children at the end of their trips when they couldn't take the kittens home! Unfortunately (or fortunately for those of you that don't like or are alergic to cats) there are no kittens left, placed or killed on the road due to the fact that they were so so tame they would sleep on the road :-( and the mother cat has since been caught and desexed and the other one vanished which is common here, foxes etc.... So the comments about unruly kittens invading your appartment no longer applies!

Simone's place is cozy, comfortable and perfect to relax. Great starting point for visiting St Emilion and Bordeaux area. Although you can't use the swimming pool it's still great during winter specially because of the fireplace.
Le petit déjeuner is highly recommended and Simone is a very dedicated host, she gave us good advices about the area and she arranged us some great visits.
très bonne adresse, un accueil chaleureux et un petit panier du chaperon rouge le matin bien sympathique
Simone's loft truly exceeded our expectations! It was so uniquely decorated, cozy, clean, and conveniently located a short drive from the little town of St. Emilion and its many vineyards.
Simone was the kind of host you can only wish for when using Airbnb. She helped us start a fire in the fireplace, gave us great restaurant recommendations, booked chateau visits, invited us over for drinks, and shared her homemade jam with us. She seems to really enjoy hosting guests, and has boundless enthusiasm for remodeling and decorating. I'm looking forward to a return visit!
great house!!!!!!!!!!!!!! everything is great and beautiful. definitely a good place for a weeekends getaway
This loft apartment is a great value accommodation from which to visit St Emilion, although you most definitely need a car to get to the property and around the area !
There were six of us in the party and with hindsight we should probably have rented out another apartment as it was a little tight for all six of us and there was only one toilet (there are two showers but only one toilet).
The check in was less smooth than we've experienced in other places (no toilet rolls, light bulbs not working, towels still damp) but Simone was an excellent and helpful host and was quick to help us with anything we needed, from more coffee capsules to chateaux and restaurant reservations. She really went out of her way to help us.
The only thing I would say is that if you are not an animal lover, note that there are cats who roam around the property and into the terraces outside the room- just make sure to keep doors closed if you don't want them in the apartment.
Overall we had a fun stay!
We had a lovey time at Simones place. Gorgeous location, very well equipped appartment and super sweet host! Never felt more relaxed after a holiday. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place!
The reservation was canceled 26 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This is why I love AirBNB. How else would I find myself in the beautiful corners of the world, and with the most beautiful people too.
I know this is cliche to say, but, this apartment is a little slice of paradise. Nestled away in a quiet corner of the French countryside. The apartment in a converted stable (100’s of years old) is wonderful. Very stylish, comfortable and quirky. Great bathrooms. Comfortable beds. Your own private courtyard. Shared use of a gorgeous pool surrounded by giant trees and flowers, you can seriously spend the day in and out of the water if you have nowhere else to be. There are only 1 or 2 other small units on the property so it's never crowded, but you may occasionally find other guests there to meet. I imagine everyone that meets here will end up friends, as there is a beautiful peaceful, positive energy to the property.
And I also imagine that anyone who stays here will fall head over heels for Simone. She is a very sweet and charming lady, and a wonderful host. Every morning there was croissant, and juice. Fresh milk or bread if we needed it. A really nice touch! She is fluent in English, and in French (not sure what else) so communication is easy. She has a lot of knowledge and connections in the greater area so can recommend you great things to see and do, and eat and drink of course. You are in Bordeaux/St Emilion after all!
This part of France is perfect. Great food and wine, high sunshine hours and temperatures. You are half an hour or so from the main town of Bordeaux, or 15 mins from the picturesque village town of St Emilion – world renowned by wine snobs everywhere.
Simone’s slice of paradise is a beautiful place to spend some really special time with family or friends, or have absolutely sickeningly romantic retreat with your lover, or even some total peace and solitude to yourself. I can not praise this place enough. Book it. Enjoy.
My husband and I stayed at this charming loft apartment for two nights in May 2013. Staying at Simone's property was a lovely introduction to life in regional France - a nice change after staying in inner-city Paris and London. We appreciated that it was in the vicinity of Saint Emilion, but at the same time removed from the tourist crowds.
The loft apartment is decorated in a provincial "shabby chic" style - the freshly cut roses from the garden were beautiful! It has a fully equipped kitchen and ample space for a couple or young family (it could comfortably sleep two couples, but while there are two bathrooms there is only one toilet, which could be a bit awkward for couples to share). There were a couple of kittens around (it is a farm property after all), but this didn't bother us in the slightest - in fact, it just added to the charm!
We have nothing but praise for Simone - she was a wonderful host who provided a delicious breakfast each morning and took the time/effort to recommend and book visits to wineries in the area (of which there are an overwhelming amount). Simone was very approachable, but at the same time respectful of our privacy.
We stayed in two of Simone’s apartments at this property for a total of a week. In its current condition, it does not seem to meet Air BnB's minimum standards for safety, cleanliness, or representation. It is no longer the relaxing, picturesque luxurious stay depicted in the photos and other reviews.
When a person is on vacation, one does not want to have to deal with all of the annoyances we encountered, including: no toilet paper, bath soap, dish soap, hand soap, or clean kitchen and bath towels, which we requested and awaited on a daily basis; no one to greet us or check us in or alternatively no note or instructions about groceries, walking paths, dinner food, or breakfast, etc. (it was a bank holiday, the location is quite isolated, everything was closed, we didn’t know a breakfast basket was sitting outside all day by the other door); running out of hot water after just one shower; an overwhelming sewage smell during our entire stay in the small apartment; a broken dishwasher filled with prior guests’ dirty dishes stinking in the large apartment during our entire stay; 2 out of 3 beds with broken legs/tilted mattresses; disorganization around wine tour/no reservation-based wineries arranged although we requested it more than 2 1/2 months in advance along with our booking.
Additional problems included: inability to lock our room's front door, although you can lock its back door if you jump over the 4 foot garden wall and into the weeds to come and go; broken in-room safes in both rooms; unattended aggressive rottweiler dog gnashing at the main entrance gate and through a rickety wooden side gate that must be passed to reach apartments- including our unattended arrival alone in the dark looking for our room the first night; badly stained ragged kitchen and bath towels; spiderwebs and ant nests in rooms and ceilings; grounds overgrown with weeds around the swimming pool and over an unused van in the main parking area; stray cats; property filled with piles of rubble, old wood, trash, bottles, tools, gas cans; wine tour mini-van’s seats and upholstery are stained, food-crusted, and musty.
Frankly, we were shocked at the poor maintenance and inconsistencies of the property because of all the good reviews and because Simone had been such a great communicator and emailer up until our arrival…and of course, the unfulfilled promise of its gorgeous photos in the listing. This property really could be something special and beautiful, and Simone herself has a wonderful personality as a hostess and is warm and easy to get along with both by email and when you meet her. However, it feels neglected and uncared for. This was amongst the worst stays we have ever experienced. Not the kind of place where you can have a simple, stress-free, tidy and relaxing country holiday, which is all we were looking for.
