The Roadrunner House is a labor of love on five acres of the Mojave desert. This space is the culmination of a lifelong dream for me, and I am honored to be the steward and protector of a tiny slice of this magical part of the world. Part of the Roadrunner mission is to provide a healing space. If you are a woman surviving infidelity, abuse, or other trauma, looking for last minute availability and cannot afford our rate, please reach out and I will work with you. You are enough. You are loved.

The space
The Roadrunner was built under one of the government's last homestead acts - the Small Tract Act. Homesteaders were granted five acres if they built a structure no smaller than 12 feet by 16 feet. The Roadrunner House was one of those cabins! Built in 1960 by a single mom - who lived in it for five years before electricity was added! - it has been added onto over the years (it's not so tiny anymore) but the five acres remain intact.

A quick tour through the house -

The Roadrunner has one master bed with a new Tuft & Needle queen mattress with custom crafted headboard and attached master bath with tub.

The east-facing sunroom also has twin daybed and trundle tucked underneath and is a great place to catch the sunrise. It also serves as the perfect WFH spot - complete with desk, large monitor, HDMI cable, and Zoom ready hi speed wifi. Best part of this room - the amazing hammock chair. The perfect WFH break.

The living space is large with lots of places to relax, read, watch DVDs, or pursue whatever crafts you enjoy. There's a spot to gather round on floor pillows and color, draw, or play one of many board games, as well a big comfy chair to curl up in and read, and two vintage rocking chairs. The comfy sectional in the living room is also a pull out couch - roomy for two.

Chefs - the kitchen is stocked with copper Cuisinart pots and pans for your culinary adventures. All the kitchen supplies you need are there to keep yourself full with homemade meals and happy. There is a full dining room with seating for six to gather round and enjoy.

The house has a new minisplit HVAC system to keep it comfortable all year round. The carefully curated house furnishings are new or vintage, and the space is designed to be a place of peace and joy for all visitors.

The Roadrunner has a patio area with a propane firepit stocked with blankies to keep warm during the chilly desert nights. Grab the acoustic guitar and the tambourine from the living room and serenade the desert creatures. Not to mention - now with 100% more tetherball! Hands down the best recess game of all time.

Where you’ll be

Yucca Valley, California, United States

The house is located in Flamingo Heights - a wild and wide open community on the mesa above Yucca Valley. The morning sky is clear and bright, the night sky is dark, and bobcats still roam the canyon. It's home to the best restaurant in the high desert - La Copine - as well as the best coffee shop - Giant Rock. It's a ten minute drive to the Integratron for an amazing sound bath or 20 minutes to the village of Joshua Tree. Fabulous Palm Springs is an easy 45 minutes. Explore Joshua Tree National Park during the day and then check out Pappy and Harriet's at night - twenty minutes across the mesa in Pioneertown.
