Beautiful quaint writer's studio, close enough to everything yet just outside of the hustle bustle. Come home in the foliage, hear the waves crashing at night and get up the next morning to live it up in LA!
Ascend the 72 brick steps winding up a vine covered hillside to reach this classic cottage in the clouds. We're nestled in the canyon adjacent to the world famous Santa Monica stairs.
This writer's studio, with it's own private entrance, is a perfect little getaway, yet close to all that LA has to offer. It is equipped with a small, but full kitchen, bathroom, Wi-Fi internet, cable, plenty of closet space, access to washer/dryer.
Beautiful views of the canyon and the ocean. Three blocks from the beach, biking distance from the 3rd street promenade and the Venice boardwalk. This area boasts some of the finest restaurants and clubs in all of Los Angeles. Spend the morning surfing in nearby Malibu, then pack a lunch and head to Topanga canyon in the afternoon to hike one of the many trails. Hope you enjoy our little cottage as much as we do!!
The Number 9 bus stops directly in front of our stairs, and the bus schedule is online for all other buses/trains.
We now have two beach cruisers for rent! On the beach they rent for $40/day....we will rent for just $5/day!! Lock included :)
The place is nestled in nature, covered in vines, trees and bamboo which house all kinds of wildlife critters like squirrels, birds, and many others you would expect to see in this area.
Your own studio with small, but full kitchen. Washer/Dryer(around the other side of the house)
Bikes available for rent.
Interaction with Guests
We always love to greet you when possible, if we are not at work when you arrive. Other than that we try to give you your space, but feel free to come up and join us for our dinner parties(as we've done with a few guests so far!) or hopefully we'll see you coming up and down the steps :)
This neighborhood is very friendly with many families that have lived here for a long time. There's a school on this block so it's very safe. We have people from all over the world coming to visit this area with the beach and the stairs and the nice little restaurants down the streets. You will love this spot.
There is the number 9 bus that stops directly in front of our stairs. It will take you to the 3rd street promenade as well as link you up with other buses that take you all over LA. We are also directly off the Pacific Coast Hwy (hwy 1) which takes you to Malibu and up the coast, or filters you onto the 10 freeway to Downtown LA. Very easy access to everything.
Other Things to Note
There are all kinds of wildlife here, squirrels, coyotes, cats, spiders, raccoons, birds, and anything that may live outside...we do live in a unique house on the hillside that attracts all living things. :)
No more than 2 people allowed, it's simply not big enough.
Small(and I mean small) dogs only upon request and only if you take the dog with you everywhere you go. You cannot leave the dog in the studio by itself, and the dog cannot bark.
NO SMOKING in the house or outside of the house....sorry the smoke heads directly into my bedroom.
You may have visitors, but No parties.
We will give you 2 keys for entry, and can arrange the key exchange via personal email one day before your reservation.
Please bring valid ID for at least 1 person on the reservation for verification.
Kids are welcome, but no more than 2 people total for the Studio.
We do live in the house and ask that if you have any concerns while staying here to please say something right away. We want you to be very comfortable staying here.
My boyfriend and I had a marvelous stay at Tad and Sasa's studio. Though I never met either personally, Sasa was quick to answer any and all of my questions. It was clear that she really wanted us to have an enjoyable stay.
As far as the accomodations, they were perfect as well. The size was just right for two of us, with all the essentials: a clean, well-kept bathroom, a comfy bed, and a little kitchen for those mornings we chose to (website hidden)ating out. What really sold us on this place, however, was the location. Multiple days we were able to walk on over to the beach, leaving the stress of parking our rental car behind. Tad & Sasa also have bikes to rent (for super cheap!), and I totally recommend a cruise down by the water.
Overall, both my boyfriend and I agree that we would absolutely love to stay at Tad & Sasa's again. It was a much needed reprieve from the Boston snow with caring individuals and top-notch accommodations!
This is a lovely cottage, situated beautifully on the side of a hill with a terrific view. Tad very kindly brought some beautiful flowers for the apartment. It is very small but has everything you would need. Tad and Sasa live above but the cottage still feels very private, I heard occasional noise but when I reached out to Tad and he was quick to respond which I really appreciated. They are both very responsive and kind and great hosts. Had a great stay and would rec to anyone who wants to be close to the beach and sunsets of LA. Thanks
I had a great experience here. Great easy going people, amazing location, and a comfortable, cozy little room. Perfect for my vacation. Thanks guys!
we had good communication, I think that even though the directions were accurate, a specific street number would be great to as as I came from a different direction and GPS was accurate. The privacy and details such: as a welcome wine, flowers, soft pillows, and comfortable bed were super. The space was very clean. Also, details about bikes, tv, heater, internet, a charger, power cord, soft towels, and great access to the beach were good selling points. Not to mention...a little patio with a chaise and a barbecue and an outside hose plus towels, so all seasons are accounted for here.
Thanks for the feedback regarding the directions. There are soo many different ways to get to our house that I had to pick the one that most guests use via the 10 freeway. I will definitely ask new guests which direction they are coming from next time to give different directions if needed. Our address has the number included on the itinerary that is emailed to you when you book. The reason why we don't trust the GPS is because only recently has it actually worked. It used to take everyone to the top of the hill and then direct them to drive DOWN the stairs...which obviously wouldn't work, so we try to get everyone to follow the directions instead. Again, thank you for bringing it to our attention :)
Tad and Sasa were very attentive hosts, making sure I had everything I needed leading up to the booking! The studio was just what I needed: A close walk to the beach, with the right amount of seclusion from the city to make my weekend retreat the relaxing stay I was seeking!
The area is absolutely beautiful, and this spot is a great pic for a single traveler looking for a spot to hideaway for a weekend. It's a quick walk to plenty of food and shopping options, and if the weather's nice (which is usually is), you can frolic on the beach!
Tad and Sasa were very generous and gracious hosts. The apartment was extremely clean and just what I needed for my short trip. I honestly couldn't ask for better Airbnb hosts than Tad and Sasa.
Sasa was wonderful and a very gracious host. A beautiful place in a great location.
Perfect for a weekend stop in LA.
We are 2 friends that live in the Main house who have decided to rent the Studio as a vacation getaway. Sasa has lived in the house for over 2 years, and Tad moved in a little over a year ago. The previous tenants lived here over 7 years so you can see how much this "diamond in the rough" house really feels like home. Sasa has a grass-fed beef jerky company called Jamie's Jerky, and also works in the film industry as a production accountant. Tad is an amazing artist and musician that has recently started his own art studio near downtown LA. We are both really chill people and can't wait to share this side of LA with all those interested.
