The Space

# Your own apartment in a beautiful, leafy, heritage area
# Train and bus services a couple of minutes away
# Cafes, bank and post office just round the corner
# Perfect base for seeing Melbourne's attractions

Your Space

Your clean and comfortable private space is on the ground floor area of our modern home. You'll have your own entrance, a living room with kitchenette, bedroom with queen size bed and plenty of cupboard space, and your own bathroom with shower and toilet - we supply soap, towels and linen. You can also have access to our laundry and clothes line in the back yard.

Facilities

The kitchenette has a refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster and kettle, and there's also a barbecue available. We'll provide you with the basics for a light breakfast. After a tiring day of sightseeing you can unwind with a game of pool in your living room or watch TV or a DVD. Overhead fans will keep you cool in summer, and for winter there’s hydronic heating throughout. Should you require internet access, we can provide you with a 4G WiFi modem on a user-pays basis.

Location

We’re located behind the Surrey Hills shopping strip and close to the Surrey Hills station. You’ll find a bank, car hire, post office, a couple of bakeries, pharmacies and a number of cafes just a few minutes walk away. There's plenty of activity around during the day but after business hours it’s very peaceful, safe and quiet.

It’s a 3-minute walk to the Surrey Hills railway station - a train to Melbourne city takes 20 minutes. It's safe to travel home on the train from the city at night, so you'll have easy access to Melbourne's restaurants and night life. The train will also take you direct to Melbourne’s major sporting precincts - the MCG, Etihad Stadium, Rod Laver Arena at the tennis centre, the soccer and rugby stadiums. In the other direction, the train takes you direct to Victoria's iconic Puffing Billy steam train that departs from Belgrave daily.

It’s easy to find your way here from Melbourne Airport by train. Take the SkyBus from the airport to Southern Cross railway station and then a Belgrave, Lilydale or Blackburn line train to Surrey Hills station.

Shopping and Restaurants

The cafes in our immediate neighbourhood serve delicious breakfasts, lunches and all day coffee and cake. There are a number of takeaway shops open in the evening and a Thai and Chinese restaurant if you'd prefer to dine out close to home. A slightly longer walk will give you the options of Italian, Greek, more Thai and Chinese restaurants, and great fish and chips.

Just a couple of stations away from us are Camberwell and Box Hill shopping centres, both home to good shopping and a fantastic variety of restaurants. They also have clothing and gift shops, fresh food markets and large supermarkets.

Transport

As well as the nearby train service, a bus service is a 1-minute walk away and will take you to the huge Chadstone Shopping Centre - the fashion capital of Melbourne. And if you’re prepared to walk for 10 minutes to the tramline, you can take a tram through the city to Port Melbourne beach, a comfortable and inexpensive way to see interesting parts of Melbourne. All Melbourne’s tram, train and bus services are linked, so getting around on public transport is easy, paying all your fares with a Myki card, available at many outlets including railway stations.

If you're travelling by car, there is street parking nearby.

Your Hosts

As for us, your hosts, we’re a well-travelled couple, who have lived in Melbourne for most of our lives, so we can help you plan your stay and find your way around. Our living space and home office are upstairs from your rooms. Once we’ve helped you settle in, we'll respect your privacy but we’re available to answer any questions and make you feel welcome and ‘at home’ in our home.

  • My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Sherry & Jo's apartment for the second time in a month and it was even better this (website hidden) had noted that I need a gluten free diet so she provided bread, biscuits and milk, all gluten free. Also on our last day Jo made some gluten free biscuits - a lovely thought and very tasty. The apartment is in a lovely leafy suburb, quiet and has a very comfortable bed - so comfortable in fact that one morning we slept an hour past our normal wake-up time - something we never do. Why stay at an overpriced hotel/motel when you can stay here for $105.00 per night - a bargain.

  • Absolutely loved our stay at Sherry & Jo's accommodation. Exceptionally clean, modern and tidy. Fruit, milk, crumpets, jams were made available in the room. The apartment is very roomy with your own entry and even though S & J live in their home above, you would never know - very quiet. 3 min walk to station, the same to some shops and eateries. Sherry & Jo are a lovely couple who really care about your comfort and their beautiful dog, Louis, may visit if your lucky - he's gorgeous (never heard him once - you wouldn't know he was there).

  • Sherry & Jo are excellent hosts. They have made sure that our stay was comfortable, taking into account the small details like when the weather turned cold, Sherry & Jo changed into the thicker blanket to make sure we are warm enough. And they have remembered the day we mentioned we might want to do our laundry and made arrangement for that. The apartment also came with adequate kitchen cutlery, snacks, coffee, etc. (love the shortbreads by the way!)

The apartment is also situated in a very nice area, with a handful of cafes, and restaurants around. On top of that, it is very near the train station, less than a minute walk away.

Leon & I really enjoyed our stay there! Thanks alot Sherry & Jo!

  • Stayed in Sherry and Jo's self contained flat for 8 nights while attending a course in a nearby suburb.Perfect choice ! Arrived late in the evening and was met by Jo and Lewis the labradoodle at the station . Flat was immaculate , plenty of Continental breakfast supplies provided ,and towels changed halfway through my stay. Both Sherry and Jo were really helpful with local information and are basically just great hosts.
I would stay again -so much better than an impersonal hotel .
    Highly recommended !

  • Sherry & Jo were very welcoming, easy to contact to arrange key pickup and gave very clear directions. Their bnb was modern, spotless and had everything we needed and more. The folder of local area interests, maps and restaurants was really useful. We would visit again just to enjoy Jo's homemade muesli! Location just a short walk to the station is such a bonus. We'll definitely be coming back next time we're in Melbourne and have already recommended their bnb to friends.

  • I would highly recommend this accommodation: Jo and Sherry are extremely helpful, flexible and considerate. Their apartment is very comfortable, quiet and situated within a very interesting area of Melbourne, close to transport, cafes and convenience stores. Everything in the apartment is appealingly arranged and little personal touches make you feel very welcome, eg gluten free breakfast. The aspect of the apartment, although facing a laneway, has a beautiful view of an enormous peppercorn tree, giving a sense of peace and beauty to complement the interesting architectural features of their home. I definitely plan to stay again!

Thanks for the glowing review, Marion, we look forward to seeing you again on a return visit! S&J

  • This must be the best Airbnb in suburban Melbourne! The location is perfect – it is very quiet and situated just behind a small and most convenient shopping strip and is just a 3 minute walk to the train station. It is also a meer 15 minute walk/or 2 train stops to the iconic shopping village of Canterbury.
The apartment is separate with its own entrance and has everything you could imagine you would require. It is ultra clean, tastefully presented and has heaps of hanging space and shelving – and the bed is very comfortable, too!
Jo and Sherry are the ultimate hosts – very welcoming and most accommodating. We would highly recommend this lovely Airbnb to anyone wishing to stay in Melbourne.

  • Greta location only 15mins from city centre. Lovely hosts, very helpful and informative. The apartment was spotless and modern. We loved the privacy and had a well equipped cosy place to come back to every day. I didn't even have to cook because there are plenty of great places to eat within a couple of minutes. Loved the neighbourhood.

We will definitely be back. the next time we are in Melbourne
