The Space

Wake up each morning to one of the most AMAZING places in Portland. We are a sweet little Italian family of 3 that lives here in Portland. We started the vacation studios to help us raise money for our daughter's college education.

Your private studio is very comfortable for 2 or cozy for 3 guests with an extra fluffy queen size bed and a euro sofa bed. The MOKA studio has its own entrance and includes your own private bathroom, shower, microwave & a cubic fridge ( New Seasons market just down the street for supplies ) Free Unlimited Internet WIFI, Flat screen TV, Extra pillows, blankets, and towels are all provided.

There is plenty of room for all of your suitcases, back packs and carry on's, as well as an iron and ironing board station, complete with all complimentary washer and dryer.

Seasonal fresh flowers, fruits, veggies, and herbs grown in our estate garden, in addition to the ultimate sun deck complete with a commercial BBQ, grand hotel teak wood lounge chairs for your enjoyment. In addition, we have 2 older neighborhood cruiser bikes with helmets for your enjoy FREE while you stay.

This historic home was built custom for a prominent doctor in 1910. Today it is a flourishing rejuvenated bungalow that has entertained and hosted hundreds of guests over the past 6 years. Decor is modern with collectible art pieces and an architectural simplicity. The Moka Studio is one of three units, located on the lower level.

Parking is provided in our private driveway.
4 compact automobiles can fit snuggly. Street parking is limited.
For those that have no rentals cars its no problem we are Less than 150' from bus stop #75, and #44 linking all transportation to ( Light Rail, Streetcar,Trains, Planes, and Zipcars ).

  • This little spot was perfect for our college visit trip to Portland. My daughter and I had plenty of room and it was equipped with everything we needed. Reservations and instructions were very easy and clear. Although we didn't meet Maria, we suspect she is as lovely and thoughtful as her accommodations.

  • On our short visit to Portland the Moka Studio was a really good place to stay. We met Maria and her Husband Dino when we arrived – a good first impression of these nice hosts. Dino took the time to give us a funny and brief introduction to the city. There is a quick overview about what to do in Portland in the apartment, too. The room was clean and well equipped. A bit small for three of us. Checking in and out is really convenient. Communication was quick and good. If there are guests in the other apartments of the house you can experience some noise, but Dino and Maria established quiet times, which is a good idea. The location is not the closest to downtown – around 45 minutes by bus including walk to the bus stop. Overall a convenient stay. Thank you for beeing our hosts on our first airbnb trip.

  • Maria and her husband are a very friendly couple who have recently moved out of the house and rent the house and two studios in the basement. The Moka studio does not have a closet or dresser although the other rooms do have closets. So if you don't want to live out of your suitcase choose one of the other rooms. They did add some hangers from the door while I was there. Other than the first weekend I was alone in the house so it was very quiet.

  • Maria & Dino hosted us on our first ever Air BnB stay. It was a great experience; their modern style basement apartment was comfortable for us. The previous reviews were right, the bed is great! It took about 30 minutes to get downtown via Portland's public transit, which was a nice option, but a rental car allowed us to see more of Portland at a quicker pace.
Dino was very nice and was full of history and suggestions on all things Portland. We were sad we weren't able to sample the great espresso or food prepared by Dino that was noted in other reviews - luckily everything we had in Portland was top notch.
We look forward to our next experience with Air BnB.

  • Maria and Dino are wonderful hosts. They were gracious enough to hold our luggage as we had awkward flight times between check-in and check-out. Also, Dino highlighted some great aspects of the city and even took us downtown when we fest arrived! SO NICE. Overall, our stay was good. As other reviewers mentioned the studio is extremely clean, and the bed is very comfortable! The studio is small but very functional and the backyard is a beautiful retreat. Our qualms related more to the location of the place. Although it is close to bus routes, even a trip to the market was at least 45 minute trip one way, and any desirable locations took a minimum of 1 hour, which really dug into our vacation time. In addition, I would not recommend a stay here if you're not an "early to bed" type. The other studio is right against this one with very poor insulation and on the first evening, we stayed up until midnight watching a little tv and talking and received a noise complaint. (Much to our surprise, as we did not think we were being loud whatsoever). Also, realize there is no closet or place to hang your clothes so we were constantly having to iron and dig through our luggage. Overall, a great stay for those looking to sacrifice a little convenience for price.

    Response from Maria:

We are happy they stayed with us. They did have a couple speed bumps following our home guidelines regarding quit times posted and may have needed to do have done a little more research & due diligence to avoid taking one hour bus rides. But overall ... Great smiles, nice kids !

  • My wife & I stayed in the downstairs Moka apartment. It was small, but adequate for the two of us. It was cozy and very clean. Even the bath & shower were immaculate! It happens to be located just a few blocks from our daughter, so it's handy for when she doesn't have room for us to stay.

  • Great studio and super hosts! We were greeted by the wonderful Dino on our arrival, and also met his lovely daughter Luciana, and their dog. Dino gave us the most entertaining overview of the house and Portland that anyone could have! We did enjoy it. Dino should have his own comedy cookery show.

The studio is compact, but had everything you could need. It was spotlessly clean. A very cute and cosy abode. It is in a very nice neighbourhood with easily accessible transport links into the city. We decided to take the bus while we were there, and it was very easy to get around.

On our second evening we were invited to a BBQ by Dino and Maria. It was great meeting Maria, who is a lovely lady.
We had a wonderful evening with them and the other guests staying in the house. Such warm and generous people.

We only wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Maria and Dino are amazing. We plan to stay here next time we are in Portland. There are so many fun things to do in Portland. I was in Portland to scout Universities and colleges with my daughter. It was a great base. It is a few blocks from public transportation. It is near two Fred Meyers stores for food and about 8 minutes from a whole foods market. My daughter came down with a soar throat and Dino was so attentive to help us find the best walk in Urgent care to get her attended to. He gave us directions and helped us get it together for Caitlin to get better. Great hospitality and attention. We plan to stay here again. thanks Dino and Maria. -- Clif
