The Space

This is a design apartment recently reformed. It's like a charming hotel suite. It is on the second floor of a “corrala” patio, which is the typical construction of old Madrid, where there is still life in the neighborhood.

The windows with different orientation provides lots of natural light. To have the ideal temperature, there is a air-conditioner unit with heat pump heat in the linving room, and radiators in the room and bathroom.

The living room has been left with the brick wall and original wood columns in sight. While resting, from the bed you can see a photomural that affords a spectacular view from the terrace of the "Círculo de Bellas Artes", Calle Alcalá, Cibeles Square, Retiro park, ... thanks to the generosity of a friend who makes amazing photos.

You can have lunch or diner comfortably in the apartment. It has all the necessary utensils (dishes, glasses, cups ,...) and an equipped kitchen (refrigerator, microwave, induction hob, Nespresso coffee machine, blender, ... and if any item is missing, we can provide it.

The bed is 1.50 x 1.90 meters with a good mattress. Duvet and pillows.

The bathroom has a shower, towel radiator.

The Neighborhood

The apartment has an excellent location in Madrid. Chamberí is a safe and elegant neighborhood . The stately buildings, offices, shops and hotels, coexist with older and typical houses. Everything has combined a set comfortable and very livable, probably why the square meter is the most expensive in Madrid.

It is an area with a great atmosphere. In any season, anytime there are people on the street. A stroll through Santa Engracia street is delicious, has a high concentration of tapas bars and restaurants.Terraces from the spring till the fall and the constant bustle are signs of vitality. With a variety of styles allows for an interesting route to sample from the more typical to the most sophisticated.

Shopping: El Corte Inglés Castellana is 10-15 minute walk to the north and is a paradise for fans of fashion brands. If you are looking for something more obscure and special fuencarral street and market is the place trendsetters according to experts and is at the same distance in the opposite direction.

Culture has a special place in Madrid and from here is also very accessible. The Prado and Reina Sofia are 20 minutes by public transport. But there are small and delicious museums like Sorolla. You won´t need transportation to enjoy theaters or cinemas.

For buying food, medicines, etc., Chamberí Market, also a supermarket, within 100 or 150 meters.

Getting around

  • The flat itself, the location, the wonderful array of bars and restaurants nearby and the kindness of our host made of this a wonderful holiday. One of the nicest airbnb experiences yet. Thanks again, Jose.

  • Jose was a great host and did everything to make our arrival in Madrid as easy as possible. The apartment is very nice, quite small but has a very comfortable bed! It is on the second floor of the building, with a common courtyard to other apartments. Staying here you feel as though you are really living in Madrid, and are able to hear the daily life (and televisions) of those living next door. We enjoy having that "real" experience as compared to being insulated and isolated in a hotel. The location is close to the metro and you can easily access all parts of Mardid. There are also tapas bars, bakeries and markets in the neighborhood, so you don't need to go too far!

This is the perfect apartment for 1/2 people. The host family is very friendly. If in doubt between this and another one of similar price, choose this one!

  • We stayed for a week at this cosy and comfortable apartment. Enjoyed Madrid by using the subway, which is around the corner. Neighbourhood is very quiet, little supermarkts and cafés nearby. We loved the birdsinging! Communication with José went perfect.

  • A small yet lovely apartment for 2 within a quiet location not far from Madrid's centre. We especially loved the markets nearby and took advantage of the well stocked kitchen to cook several meals at " home".

  • Quiet, nice location. Apartment is cozy (I.e. Small) but well laid out and comfortable for 2 people. Has a washer and lines to dry on. Microwave but no oven. Well supplied kitchen. Nice shower but not much counter space. Very close to the synagogue and kosher restaurants/stores which is why we chose the apartment. Overall a very nice place to stay for 5 days. easy metro access and close to cine Verdi which shows English films with Spanish subtitles (terrific for non-Spanish speakers who want to see a movie.
