About this listing
City Apartment IIII “Johann Alexander” (forth floor with elevator, sunny, panorama view overlooking the Little Danube, 473 sf, 44 m², spacious living/bedroom room, kitchen/living room with extra bed, bathroom - SAT TV, DVD, wireless LAN Our City Apartments are like an oasis in the historic city center (1st district) at the Palais Brambilla, there is a restaurant and a beauty parlor right in our house. Lots of sights, boutiques and restaurants are within walking distance. The subway station U2/U4 “Schottenring“ is right in front of our house and the U1 station is close by. The airport bus stops at 150 m from our house. Visiting small children will like the playground behind our house in the park and visiting dogs the fenced dog run infront of our house.
Special for Christmas and New Year the Christmas markets are close by in walking distance and the fireworks at New Years on the little Danube infront of our house can be watched conviniently from your room in case you want to listen to the radio playing Walzer.
We love our neighbourhood as it is a nice community but still urban - we know our neighbours it is almost like living in village in the middle of a city- the shops and restaurant add a hip and down to earth mix to a vast variety of supermarkets from budget to gourmet.
To the sights close by count the two oldest churches in Vienna, the Ruprechtskirche and the church Maria am Gestade. The street around our corner leads into the "Tiefer Graben" a deep ditch that was used by the Romans as fortification and edge of their castellum. If you continue further the "Naglergasse" is the right angled corner of the castellum. The narrow street still shows the Roman street pattern. The St. Stephans Cathedral is in walking distance as is all of the 1. district. The Vienna stock market, the OPEC head quarter and the Juridicum (faculty of law of the UV) are really close. U4 connects you to Schloss Schönbrunn and the Tiergarten/Zoo. The small Danube infront of our house is of lower evelation and connects the sportive crowd to the Prater - and if you just want to hang out on the "beach" down there are a lot of hip bars to do that. During summer there is a ship with a floating swimming pool and bar if you need to take a dip during a heat wave. During winter the close by Christmas markets and twinkling street lights and the Sylvester Path charm and watching the fire works that are started on the small Danube from all Viennese is quite a sight.
The subway station U2/U4 „Schottenring“ is right in front of our house and the U1 station "Schwedenplatz" is close by. The tram 1 and "Ring" have a station in the next block. The airport bus stops at 150 m from our house.

Markus was a great host and met us promptly. He made check in and check out a breeze and even helped us call a taxi on our departure. He gave us many recommendations on the city which was nice to have an insider perspective.
I highly recommend this place for anyone needing a good value in Vienna. :)
Warm and very helpful clear and available welcome from Markus. The flat is very confortable, quiet completely renewed in an an old charming building. Ubahn just across the street. All commodities very close (food shops and restaurants very close) city center at 10 minutes by U4. We will come again. Thanks Markus. Etienne
Very nice place, comfortable and cozy. It was a good location and easy access to everything.
The location is perfect. Metro station 2 min walk, shuttle bus from the airport - station 2 min walk. Shops, cafe, restaurants all within short walking distance. Windows facing the riverside. The key handover perfectly organized. Most necessary things are available in the apartment. Would definitely come there again. And can recommend to friends. Thank you.
The building, as well as the appartment is a fantastic place.
I liked the nice mix of vintage/contemporary.
The appartment is very well equiped (for cooking, breakfast etc.), including beverages in the fridge from 1€ (appreciated).
Take the time to read the docs provided by Markus, they are helpful.
The location is nice as well: you can walk to any place within the ring and we liked to wander in the nice Streets around the appartment before going to the shopping/muséums area.
Markus himself was very welcoming, helpful and flexible.

About the Host, Markus
I am an architect and my speciality are historical buildings. I won a price with the restoration of this building from the city Vienna. I love finding the bones, the good structures in old buildings or within a neighbourhood and create with this knowledge perfect solutions.
I also have art gallery in the former stables of this house. Our "stable gallery" is a perfect place to stable art and show them off to possible buyers.
Our home is named after our ancestor Giovanni Alessandro de Brambilla who was the chief surgeon of Emperor Joseph II in the 18th century. He held this position for most of his life, travelled with the Emperor always and founded the Academy for surgeons (which is not far away from us) and reorganised the way of medical treatment in the Age of Enlightment.
We love to travel ourselves but love the way to be at home far away. We have many frequent guests who love returning to us and our neighbourhood.
