My cozy 1 bedroom apartment is located at the TOP of Nob Hill, just 2 blocks from Grace Cathedral, the Fairmont San Francisco, Huntington Hotel just a short walk to Union Square. The apartment features a spacious, airy bedroom with Bay windows; a medium sized, eat-in kitchen with high top kitchen table, full appliances and fully stocked with everything you need to cook. The living room is equipped with a futon (serves primarily as a couch or could provide for extra accommodations), a stereo system and the entire apartment is wi-fi connected. Since I work in wine, I usually leave a little something for my guests as a "welcome to San Francisco." :)
The apartment would be great for 1-2 people, ideal for a couple visiting the city and wanting to be in close proximity to Union Square, the Marina and Russian Hill neighborhoods as well as all of the tourist destinations (Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, Chinatown, etc.). I am literally footsteps in any direction to all of these locations, but nestled away enough to feel tucked away in a quiet neighborhood.
Public transportation includes Cable Cars just two blocks away (California line and Powell line), the California 1 MUNI line (outbound picks up just a block a half block away - inbound picks up 1.5 blocks away) and cabs are plentiful in the neighborhood (walking to the corner of Jones and Sacramento is easiest or just another block to California St.). Ferry building is about a 20 minute walk or a $10 cab ride. Otherwise, walking is always ideal to take in the sights!
Nearby amenities include: Nob Hill Market (Le Beau bakery), Nook Cafe, Nob Hill Cafe, Polk Street restaurants and shops, two overnight parking garages (Grace Cathedral & Masonic Center) and plenty of car rental companies. The nearby hotels have spas and brunches and a fun spot to visit at the Fairmont is the famous "Tonga Room"--a tiki lounge style bar that takes you out of the fog and into the tropics.
Since there is a full sized futon, an additional 1-2 people could stay, but it might be a bit of a tight squeeze depending on the length of stay.
Please let me know if there is anything I haven't covered. Happy to answer any/all questions quickly!
My family of 3 pax stayed in Tanya's apartment for almost 2 weeks in January. The place was as described in the website; and there's a market and laundry nearby. The lower floor (just about 6 steps up) is a plus for us as we had several pieces of heavy luggage. The apartment is adequately furnished, a bit tight for 3 but perfect for 2 persons. Check-in and check-out procedure was clear and easy to follow. I could reach Tanya easily by email or phone.
The stops for the bus (to and fro downtown) and cable car (to & fro Fisherman's Wharf) are between 2 to 8 mins away by my walking. Good location to explore San Francisco from a quieter and very decent neighbourhood.
Tanya was so kind to offer us to stay "as long as we want" on the final day because our flight back to Malaysia was at midnight.
Nice neighborhood. Quiet street. Clean and neat apartment. Not modern by any means, but very comfortable as a place to sleep. Very small living room, but we were out and about so it was not a problem. The building itself is a little funky, but no problems.
If you are in SF, I recommend staying at Tanya's place. Tanya left us a nice bottle of wine for our arrival. The location is great and the apartment is clean and a good space. The only issue I had was the noise outside the bedroom (trolleys and cars), which is in the front of the apartment. Overall, however, I was very happy with the accommodations.
Tanya's place was a great place to stay. The location is very convenient and relatively quiet. There's a convenience store, a nice market, and a Trader Joe's all within a short walk. The place itself was comfortable, especially the bed! Tanya was very accommodating and a great host!
Tanya's place is fantastic. One of the most central parts of San Francisco, you couldn't pick a better spot. Her place is clean and tidy, well presented and has everything you could need.
Tanya was a warm, generous and accessible host. Her apartment is well-located and we were able to visit many sights by foot. Of course, because of the steep hills, we often took a bus, cable car or taxi back to the flat. All the essentials were provided. We did find the space a little cramped and sometimes noisy at night but overall would recommend this apartment for younger travellers who want to experience a great city.
Tanya was an absolute sweetheart! Incredibly flexible for a couple of my requests due to travel times / needs, beautiful basket of goodies / wine to welcome me, cool neighborhood, homey & comfortable place, and overall wonderful experience. On a fun note… her wine knowledge is incredible… and "all over the place"!
My name is Tanya and I'm an early 30-something professional who works in the wine industry in San Francisco. I travel frequently both in my professional and personal life, and would love to share my Nob Hill apartment with other travelers to this great city! I'm very active socially, so having a home in close proximity to shopping, restaurants, nightlife and the water is extremely important. Everything I could want in the city is right outside my door!
I love great food and wine, exploring new cities and dining out in San Francisco. I'm an avid runner, cyclist, yogi, hiker and all things fitness. On the weekends you can often find me leaving a yoga class, grabbing a cup of coffee and shopping around the city's great boutiques. I also love hosting friends...dinner, wine and cheese or just a general gathering. Being social is extremely important to me.
A friend recently described my style as "upscale Bohemian"...I'm an diehard Anthropologie fan, not too girly, but sophisticated with a touch of feminity. You'll find touches of this in my apartment.
I like to live life to the fullest and share this with others. Hopefully you will enjoy your stay!
