ParkSlope NYC: Minutes to Manhattan

Apartment - Private room · 15th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215, United States

Hi~ long term stay welcome at my sunny, scholarly apartment with creative peaceful pulse, Simple safe area 15-20 minutes to Manhattan R, F, G (N, D) Subway trains; 8-10 minutes drive/taxi to Wall Street!

The Space

Hi, welcome south to Park Slope area with less towers, more trees and neat brick/ brownstone dwellings.. Simple, safe, working class, friendly neighborhood. I've maintained the original old Park Slope style 'Railroad' layout that offers some challenges with its charm. 2BHK check drawing/images/description if its workable for you.

Executives, artists, students, scholars, doctor/ medical/ media IT interns/professors and all stayed here and like the peaceful, positive vibe. New Whole Foods Market Cafe opened just a few blocks away with a promenade, sprawling rooftop bar and winter garden ...

Well connected - short walk to several Subway trains R, F, G (N, D off peak) at '9th Street' Stop and 'R' at Prospect Avenue Stop (just 15 -20 minutes to Manhattan) + MTA Buses and Free shuttle to IKEA, BWC Artists, Fairways Water Taxi, also bike route to Coney Island and Brighton Beaches. Prospect Park and Greenwood just 5 minutes jog.
If Driving it's only 5 to 7 minutes to Wall Street via Battery Tunnel. Airports about 30 minutes traffic permitting:-)

APARTMENT: This simple, quiet apartment has all the basic furnishing - bed, desk, cooking pots-pans, stove, microwave, internet, Wi-Fi etc Bathroom is compact yet has full size bath tub. Heat, Hot/Cold water is instant 24/7. There is decent daylight, breeze..window Air Conditioner and piped heating.

Guest Access

BUILDING: well maintained, clean, safe, quiet, typical Park slope Brick and Stones 'Tenement' walkup building a characteristic style this area is known for. See the Layout Drawing (in photos) 'Railroad' or 'Shotgun' style Apartment is on top floor 3 flight of steps and there is no elevator (lift) no doorman etc, nothing fancy, also no pets and no smoking anywhere in the apartment or building. Nice and decent services, deliveries, bicycle racks, laundry- washer dryer in the basement.

Interaction with Guests

Everything basic one may need. Gentleness and respect.

The Neighborhood

LOCATION: Prospect park is just a few blocks up the slope; mix of families at the median of the increasingly hip and trendy bars and clubs + artzy and auto-body workshops, warehouses and all overlooking NYC at the confluence of Hudson river and Atlantic Ocean, Red Hook, Gowanus, Bay Ridge, Sunset Park .. Pathmark, Lowes, Home Depot, Our own 6/15 Community Garden - - Park Slope Food Coop privileges (TBD) for those interested. Walk, Bike, Jog to Greenwood or Prospect Park (designed by Olmsted like Central Park, only older, better)

Getting around

The SCHPEEL: I have tried to maintain old decor- tin ceilings, rotary phone (high speed WiFi internet, Cable ready), recycled/retro furniture, fixtures, lamps- Its rather rustic. There are challenges with the charm in this Brooklyn living experience.. Its more Spike Lee Stoop style than Jennifer Connolly (both were area residents;-) Access to the terrace via Skylight ladder. It gives panoramic views of Liberty Island across Hudson-Bayonne .. Marlin Brando's Oscar Winning 'On the Waterfront' and Spike Lee 'On the Stoop' movies settings are reflected in this neighborhood's gritty identity, backyard to many activists, artists and creative people. Discover South Slopes where Elizabeth Gilbert authored 'Eat Pray Love' and Julia Roberts filmed here first for the movie..

If not already, now you know New York- Brooklyn- Park Slope South- searching here- got the best kept secret!

  • Yogi is a wonderful attentive host! I highly recommend his place!

  • Yogi is an excellent host and a great person. The apartment is very spacious and has everything you could need. I stayed for an extended period of time and Yogi did everything to make it enjoyable. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, and the subways are close by. Proximity to the subway was the main reason I chose this apartment as Brooklyn has many subway lines that make getting anywhere inconvenient or difficult. Overall it was a great experience.

  • Yogi is a very kind host! He made sure everything was fine and would contact you every now and then to see if you are doing well.
He also was very flexible during the times we had to meet.
The place was pretty much as described. Had a great stay.

  • Yogi was a great host. My plane landed late in the evening but Yogi went out of his way, to wait for me and even prepared a quick meal for us to share ! He gave me clear and helpful instructions on how to get to his place with all the options, and provided me with a map of the subway and useful tips. He stayed in touch with me all along my stay to make sure everything was OK. The place was as described in the add. I had a great stay at Yogi's !

  • Yogi is an awesome host! He is friendly and will keep in contact with you throughout your stay to make sure things are going awesome. He made me feel comfortable and even decreased the rent price for the month because of some apartment renovation that was going on in the complex. Thanks Yogi!

About
Hi there, I'm simple, jovial, busy, creative professional. Airbnb suggest describing life motto.. here it is > strive to explore, embrace, enjoy everything around in the nature.. (maintain some trees/plants as more manageable motto ;-) Now regarding five things ... who can live without food, light, air (shelter?) and some fire in the heart! I eat/drink everything, can mange simple cooking on my own, tea at anytime, and if you ask for it- conversation to go with it at no extra charge ;-) Mine is a bare bachelors pad, its far more than my own minimal needs, I love to share everything and happy to play 'the host with the most' As consultant I'm associated with global corporations as well as grassroots groups and development agencies like UN ICRC etc. I maintain small collection of books on Native New York and a little library of global music.. I like Yoga, Soccer, Autobiographies and Abstract Art.. I try and keep track of New York city, vicinity and activities, Its my first try at AirBnB hosting and I am looking forward to make it nice and fun... Yogi
