The Space

Studio 45m2, thd floor, view to Sta.. Teresa church, confortable for a cuple, but can have 4 people, nice natural lightning, vary aire, tv, eletric fan on ceiling, folding bad, bathroom( good shower), complete kitchen (micro-wave, coffee machine and cooking stuff). You won't get any "homier" than here!

The Rio de Janeiro is the main tourist destination in Latin America, with its tropical climate, landscapes and cultural icon known worldwide. The exuberant nature Rio includes 90 km of beaches, the Tijuca National Park, home to one of the largest urban forests in the world with 3200 hectares of Atlantic Forest and the beautiful LagoaRodrigo de Freitas, among other wonders, like the Christ Redeemer and enjoy the look of the Sugar Loaf.

Bohemian neighborhood with various entertainment, such as the Municipal Theatre, the National Library building also has several museums including the National Museum of Fine Arts and the National History Museum.

Sure, Copacabana was big in the sixties. IN THE SIXTIES. If you're looking for an authentic experience of Rio, though, you may want to consider a more diverse, culturally vibrant part of the city.

Lapa, home to samba musicians, capoeira players, and other marginals and bohemians, has been referred to as the "South American Montmartre". Nowadays, it still carries the soul of Rio in streets filled with music and the most interesting characters.

Located between the historical center of Rio and the heart of Lapa, my studio is a short walk from both the well known bars and music venues, such as Rio Scenarium, Carioca da Gema, Democráticos, and Circo Voador, and from 19th-century beauties such as the Municipal Theater and the National Library..

My studio is inside a residential building and on a street that's safe. Public transportation is very easily accessible from here: for R$ 2,75, you can take a bus to the South Zone and be at the beach in 20 minutes. For R$ 30,00, you can take a cab and be there in less than that. You can also walk for 10 minutes to nearest subway station, Cinelândia and Glória.
Come stay where the locals live, in a studio that's lived i.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Stayed in Marcio's apartment for three weeks including Carnaval.

Marcio was a great host. Helped me get settled in, made sure I had all the info I needed and even walked around with me for several hours helping me find a chip for my iPhone… would have taken me a whole day, easily, on my own.

The place is located literally 75 meters from Escadaria Selaron and right in the heart of Lapa. Now depending on what kind of holiday you are looking for this is good or bad. Walk out the door and you are 5 minutes from the bars and restaurants of Lapa and of it's nightlife… especially on weekends it gets quite busy. Surprisingly quiet in view of the fact that the hustle and bustle is a few hundred meters away. Only problem was that darn dog barking across the street on a regular basis. But dogs are everywhere in Rio. I just had ear plugs and used them when necessary (carnaval is a noisy time no matter where you are)

The place is plenty fine for 2 people, four would be crowded. It was clean, though spartan. The bathroom is plenty big with a big shower. The kitchen is very small, but totally fine for prepping breakfast. Would be hard to cook a full meal unless you were accustomed to such a kitchen.

Bed was comfortable (and a decent bed is central to a good holiday for me) and I slept great. no air con but a good fan over the bed. Goon wifi in the place, always worked.

If you are going to Rio know exactly what you want in accommodation. If you stay somewhere central with easy access to the city, metro, etc… it will be nosier… if you want quiet, you'll probably need to get a cab to and from your accom…. or plan to walk a lot (not fun at 4am after partying)

marcio was helpful and unobtrusive but there if and when you needed him.

  • Márcio's studio is a great place if you want to see Rio without paying the ridiculous prices you'll normally need to stay elsewhere. Lapa is a great area, with loads going on (though it can be a little noisy in the flat) and Márcio's studio is a great base, right in the middle of things, with the subway just a five minute walk away. The place is really secure, with friendly doormen working around the clock. The only downside is the tiny kitchen, which makes cooking a fairly unappealing prospect. Otherwise I recommend this for anyone wanting to see Rio on a budget.

    Response from Márcio:

Never the kitchen size was a problem for any of the guests (it has a regular size for a studio as all can see in the certificate site's photos). Thanks.

  • Fomos muito bem recebidos, explicou tudo com detalhes...tudo limpo e organizado tbm...Recomendamos o apto; boa localização pra quem procura agito, boa opção.

  • Just coming back from a week in Rio de Janeiro. We spent somenights in different places, and have to say that Marcio's loft was the best overall experience.

We booked at last minute just the day before arriving. Marcio answered every question promptly, gave us directions, and was waiting for us at the loft to gave us the keys. Just 30 minutes from our arrival, after some talking, asking for local tips, and a shower, we were already drinking cheap and tasty caipirinhas in the streets of Lapa, with an unmatched party environment just one block from the loft. We are not really loud-party people, but definitely a weekend on Lapa is something you have to experience.

The flat is as described, clean, very well-located, has everything you need, and Marcio is a nice, well-informed, and trustful host. He even let us stay some extra hours the last day for some sleep recovery after two consecutive nights of Rock in Rio. I'd definitely stay again.

    Gracias Marcio!

  • We really enjoyed Marcio's apartment. He met us there and made sure everything was in place and we were taken care of. The apartment is very close to Escadaria Selaron and Arcos da Lapa, both fun and popular spots. The apartment itself had a responsive 24 hour doorman and an elevator. I was working in Centro and it was a brief 20 minute walk.

  • O melhor custo/benefício na área mais boêmia do Rio!
Me hospedei com meu namorado e adoramos.

  • I had a great time staying at Márcio's apartment. It was the perfect location, right in the middle of Lapa, yet managed to be just enough out of the total craziness to actually get to sleep. The place has everything you need and Márcio made himself available to solve any problem should they materialize, but none did. If you decide to stay here you won't regret it. The place is close to the metro, the Lapa arches, and a short walk from most everything you'll need. Hopefully the next time I'm in Rio the apartment will be available for me to rent again :-)

  • Marcio was extremely helpful in every way.
As a tourist guide to a most fascinating part of Rio he could not have been better, and his nice apartment is on the most entertaining street on the planet. His recommendations were all perfect, from restaurants to cultural places. All you need to do is sit on the window sit and look through the beautiful tree to the street below and you will learn more about Rio than anything else you can do. One additional note is that, though I speak no Portuguese, the people living in the building went out of their way to also help me when I had questions about the neighborhood. I will absolutely return and very soon.
